    We had a couple of great experiences. Honest and good work so we continued to go trying to build relationships/ trust (etc.) My husband took my car Thursday to get it diagnosed (eval) to figure out whatever was going on with it. He took it Thursday 8/3 and was told it would only take a few hrs. We were not called until Friday morning and told the eval results. We then said we would come pick it up and discovered that personal items were missing from my trunk and they ransacked through it and also out of the middle counsel inside of my car. No damages to the outside of my vehicle so a break in was improbable. We then called and explained the situation and was told by the manager that he would check security cameras and call back by the end of the business day. We received no such call. We then called the next morning and was told he didn't have time but if he did he would look at it and call us back. We then received a phone call a few hrs later from a different employee NOT THE MANAGER and was told there was no footage of anyone going inside my vehicle and they were not responsible for what happened in the parking lot and to file a police report. Sad part is we had multiple cars that we trusted pep boys to do maintenance with and now they have lost all of our business.

    TAKE YOUR MONEY AND RUN FROM THIS FRAUDULENT ESTABLISHMENT‼‼‼ CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT PENDING‼‼‼ Drove my son's vehicle to the pep boys in Garner NC for a free engine light diagnostic. Checked in the vehicle with Renee (supposedly the "GM") of this location. (MY EXACT VERBIAGE!) I advised her that the vehicle is running hot and the engine light has come on, "I would like a free diagnostic to determine what the main issue is." I advised her that I've taken several of my Volvo's' to Pepboys in Miami (where I live half of the year), for simple oil changes and tire rotations. Renee proceeds to ask "phone number", she advises that she has located my account. She then advises she needed to "update my account" and proceeds to ask for my address. I'm assuming she's looking at my Miami home addresses. So I assumed she needs an address for my property here in Cary. I provide it. Then she asks for the keys - asks if I am staying or leaving the car. I advise I would be back for the vehicle once the diagnostic is complete. Renee advises "we'll call you once it's ready.' Approximately 30 minutes later I receive a call from Renee (the manager) who advises that the entire engine was blown and would cost $3,500 for labor, not including the cost of the engine. On a vehicle that I seamlessly drove from my home to Pepboys?! If that didn't sound sketchy enough - what I didn't advise them of, was that my neighbor (who's a mechanic) had already taken a look at it and gave me a $200 quote on a cracked water pump replacement. I was taking it upon myself to get a second quote before I preceded with the water pump repair. Renee then asked, if I would like them to locate an engine for that vehicle or if I would like to pick it up. I advised her, no thank you - I will be picking it up. She then proceeded to say "your invoice would be at the front" and she hung up! Once I arrive to retrieve my car and key (Renee has left for the day), and a big fat old man is at the front desk. I proceed to provide my information so he could hand over my key and I could leave. He pulls an invoice from the desk with a $$ amount for a coolant check and parts. He advises he would not be releasing my key until I pay for the services preformed. I advised him, there must be a misunderstanding because Ive dropped off my sons vehicle for a free diagnostic check - there shouldn't be a cost associated with a FREE diagnostic! He then calls Renee to clear up the misunderstanding - when she advises that SHE HAD COMMUNICATED A DOLLAR AMOUNT UPON DROP OFF OF THE VEHICLE?! Renee barely lifted her head up to acknowledge me at check in, NEVER-THE-LESS communicate a cost above and beyond the FREE DIAGNOSTIC I was requesting! I look above the front desk and notice a camera security system, and ask the man at the front desk to please replay the footage where she advised me of "the cost"! He proceeds to say - VERBATIM, "those cameras are footage only, they do not have audio - so you will not catch us that way"! Almost implying, that they've fraudulently done this before! What Renee ("the manager") wasn't aware of - is that I am a defense attorney for the State of North Carolina & Florida! You have a bigger problem on your hands for fraudulently preying on the finances of clients who are entrusting their personal property to a "reliable"/"integral" establishment for honest quotes and services! I proceeded to advise the man (name unknown) at the front desk, that I will be towing my sons vehicle out of the lot IMMEDIATELY! He then advised, "if I did that, he would call the police"! I laughed and advised him - my GOOD OL' FRIENDS at the county police department were already ON THEIR WAY to assist the escort of my sons vehicle! The following day, my colleague at my firm was in contact to retrieve paper trail evidence and my sons key! All individuals evolved will be served and summoned to court shortly! THERE WILL be a complete and thorough investigation into this Pep Boys establishment in Garner NC! I'm confident that there are many other victims that would like their experiences shared! Sorry to all of the other victims of this fraudulent business establishment!

    These guys did a bang up job, with a hammer no less, and nailed it…read more I'll save the sad story of breaking down at a truck stop in the middle of corn city and jump to the chase. I get towed here on a busy Saturday and am ready to freak out about my van. I explain the problem and what I understand could be the culprit in causing my van to not start. They listen and I sit in a nice room with AC, TV, and all that Jazz, while I wait while they don gloves and prepare to stick a thermometer up the exhaust pipe. I decide to take a quick stroll over to the nearby shopping center and return to find my car already running again. The maintenance tech Robert says that he simply hit the starter with a hammer and the thing turned over. I was beside myself with glee that my vehicle could run and that all I needed was the most common household tool to crank her up. Then Robert tells me there's no charge because it took 5 minutes and cut me loose. That's awesome! No bill? -well I'll be back next week with my other car. Thanks Firestone!

    They couldn't change out a battery because they said the screws holding the seat down were corroded…read moreand let the car sit for two days without doing anything. I showed them the corrosion before the work had even began and they said they would give it a try. (Battery is under seat which is just peachy). They said they were busy, so they might not get to it Monday. I asked when on Tuesday would be good, suggesting 3PM and that was "plenty of time." I called at 2:30 for an update and they said the technician wouldn't be able to work on it due to it being a safety issue. If the seat is unscrewed, obviously it would be dangerous. I told them to just remove the front two screws and it tips back (how I've changed the battery before). They said they would give it a try. I called back AGAIN at 6PM and they said, "Nope, still a safety issue and the tech was afraid he would bust the screw head off if he tried any harder." So, they jumped the car and I got it going. I went and bought the 10mm triple square bit and all the fixins to drill and reverse that screw out. Guess what? The screws came out easy, no issues. I think the real safety issue is they have someone working on vehicles who doesn't possess the strength to turn a ratchet. I would suggest that management require the person to perform a company mandated physical or an investigation. I'm concerned for the safety of an individual who is unable to provide a slight torque on a ratchet without fear of injury. This could be a sign of a serious medical condition, and I think Firestone needs to investigate the wrist and arm strength of this technician before they break their thin birdlike bones.

    Reasonable price, great owner, and nice location…read more Came in for an oil change and to track down the cause of a recurring stall issue with my Volkswagen Tiguan. The mechanic listened, asked good follow-up questions, made sure he understood the problem before drawing any conclusions, and then diagnosed it cleanly. The part arrived within the window he quoted (2-3 hours), was installed without fuss, and the final bill was reasonable. What stood out as much as the technical work: he flagged a slow coolant leak and a minor oil leak -- this is an older car, so neither was a shock -- but there was no pressure to pile on services. He showed me rough estimates so I'd have them when I'm ready and left the decisions to me. That kind of straightforward, no-upsell approach is rarer than it should be. The waiting area is a genuine plus: free wifi, a table big enough to work at, and a small fridge with complimentary drinks, large TV. My one suggestion would be to add a coffee in the AM. Also, the door to the reception currently reads "B". Might want to avoid any confusion with better signage. That said, I am a big fan of this establishment and will be using them for repairs in the future (apparently sooner than I want :) Bonus: he pointed me to a wonderful Indian place across the street, Biryani, which I'd highly recommend if you have time to kill while your car is being worked on.

I ended up needing more work done and while it was expensive as cars are it didn't cost an arm and a leg. Gia the manager was also just pleasant to talk to and very communicative overall. She even offered to let me come around the desk to type in my credit card number for privacy which I felt was a thoughtful gesture. Overall my experience was great and my car feels better! Just minutes later, my driver reported that the truck was shaking extremely bad. When I called them back, they told my driver to meet them about 10 miles away--only to then say there was nothing they could do. Since then, I have been calling them all morning with no answer. On top of that, my toolbox was stolen off my truck while it was in their possession. This entire experience has been unprofessional, dishonest, and unacceptable. I paid $4,000 for work that was clearly not done correctly, and now I'm left dealing with additional damage and missing property. If they do not communicate with me ASAP, I will be filing a civil suit and taking this matter to court. Do yourself a favor and take your business elsewhere.
