The manager at this store (Jesse) is OUTSTANDING!!! I have never experienced service so excellent at any other mechanic or auto supply store. My vehicle is very old and has lots of issues. Many places I've taken it for repair, have sent me away because they just don't want to be bothered with an old clunker like mine.. but not at this store. All of the employees there were very nice and friendly, and the facility was clean and well organized. They even provided extra help without extra charge. I came in for a patch for one tire, they took 20 min just looking at the tire and checking it as if I didn't just tell them what I needed then I had to wait almost an hour to get that patch done on one tire, and I have a lug nut that needs a specific socket they didn't even ask me for it so idk wtf they did with that even when they inspected it for 20 min before touching it and they charged me 25 for a patch when the are usually 10 bucks read more

I had an 8 am appointment to test my battery as the car needed to be jumped 2 days before. I showed up just before 8 am and my car was the only one being worked on. It was not until 8:30 am (and after I went to ask what was taking so long) that they tell me the battery needed to be charged and it would take 45 minutes to 1 hour. It did and after that, I'm told I need a new battery after all - $296 + tax. And of course, they don't have the battery and it will take 30 minutes to get it. So, that would be 2 hours from me getting there to just get the battery to the place. I left. I went to another car service place and they immediately tested the battery and told me I need a new one - $200, so about $100 less than Pep Boys was going to charge me. Plus, bathroom was disgusting (crap in the toilet and dirty all around) and the waiting room was not clean - dirty coffee cups on the table, trash on the floor, TV but not turned on, dirty windows. Tells you they don't care about details, which likely translates to how they service cars. Will not ever go to this location again. read more

I went in to this location on Jan. 30th because I needed to get an inspection done, but knew that I also needed a couple of tires replaced and an alignment and some work done on my spongy feeling brakes. I called before I went to make sure they had some availability, because I didn't want to go to the location in Mesquite where I've had some problems in the past. They told me they would be able to get the work done for me, and I got there at about 11 am. Ethan and the other employee at the counter were very helpful and friendly, and they didn't try to nickel and dime me- they actually recommended only the services that I needed at the time to be able to pass inspection. It was not the fastest service appointment I've ever had, but given that I needed multiple things done, the timeframe was reasonable. They even looked up my road hazard warranty on my tires from another location and helped me save some money on getting the two new tires. They didn't have an inspector in house that day, so I ran over to the Lake Highlands location to get that done, and was in and out relatively quickly. They gave me estimates on the other work I know that I need done on my vehicle, so that I have that information available when I am ready to proceed with those repairs. If I could give negative stars I would!! Definitely the worst place I've taken my truck for alignment. I changed the suspension and I took it to do the alignment on a weekend, after they did their "job" I drove it back to my house but I started feeling my truck weird, it was pulling to one side then suddenly pulling to the other side making it strong noice and wobbling every time I was pressing the brakes. I took it back the next weekend since I didn't have time during the week and they were blaming me I had an accident that was the reason my truck was doing that! These guys left my driver control arm loose I'm lucky I didn't get an accident like they were saying!! After fixing that control arm everything was working fine! I don't recommend anyone trusting them, I'm not coming back to any Pep-Boys!! read more

Disappointed, PepBoys used to be where I bought aftermarket car parts. They have since changed their business model to a tire install shop. And it's not just this Pep Boys it's majority of them in the DFW area. So now all the car parts I've purchased in the past that have lifetime warranties in order for me to have a warranty performed I have to drive across town to a certain store that doesn't stop many things for import cars then I have to pay for it and order it then I have to go back again and do an exchange and get a refund. I wish I could just return the parts I had previously bought and purchased them somewhere else so that when a warranty issue arises then I would be able to be taken care of with a lot less effort and work. read more

Scheduled an oil change and got it done during my lunch break, but when I got home I noticed my car was leaking oil. Pep Boys paid for a tow & 2 Lyft rides just to see what the issue would be. The head mechanic looked through the issue with me, and pointed out that there was a crack in the oil filter connecter. My car was returned to the way I brought it in, and they treated me extremely well. I stayed calm throughout the process, and so did the shop. Very positive experience, and Pep Boys earned my store loyalty! Will definitely be back. read more

I brought my 2016 VW Passat here because the tire shop where I bought my tires from gave me a free voucher for an alignment. My car was driving perfectly fine before I came here. After the alignment was done whenever I would go above 60 on the highway, the backside of my car would move side to side. Took it too where I bought it from and they told me it was a bad alignment. Went back to pep boys and the service manager told me it had to be something else like this suspension or struts. Wouldn't take blame or offer to fix the problem. Will never be back. Will not refer any friends or family here either. read more

About $1500 of work front-end completed by Scott/Jeffery. My front end was recently redone by another shop after an accident. Somehow, they didn't catch the fact that the motor mounts were damaged and that the front of my motor was basically sitting on my right front axle. I find it hard to believe that both the adjuster and the first shop missed this problem when they had the whole front end taken apart to do the repairs. Jeffery was great and I appreciate his honesty and knowledge. Chris, the manager, was very helpful and personable. We highly recommend this store and are thankful they fixed the additional issues with my car before something bad happened. read more

Don't bother going to this Pep Boys the manager Joe is not really worried about your happiness and your satisfaction. He sees me walking in the store with a battery I make it all away to the back and he tells me got to go back to the front for service not service department for service. Now he tells me he's not warranting this battery because I initially bought one seven years ago and it's my fault that these batteries are lasting..I told him they replace this battery just over two years ago that's a new transaction this battery says clearest 36 months free replacement.. hey said that doesn't matter it's from the first time not the replacements purchase.. as I'm walking out to spend my money at O'Reillys he says he'll do it one more time.I told him it's not about the money it's about the principle I'll spend my $150 somewhere else.. thank you have a great day.. read more

No Good for Honda Alignment Bought a set of Michelin tires and had an alignment done. They did OK on the tires and it was a good price. This is why I give 2 stars. (the alignment gets 1 star) The car pulled hard to the right as soon as I left the Shop. Immediately took it back and they said the alignment was right on, said something wrong with the car. Car did not pull before I took it here. Took it back 2 more times and they said the tires were bad and I would need a new set of tires. BUNK!!,total BS. Finally gave up and paid full price for an alignment at the Honda dealer. Car drives great now, and I am enjoying the new tires. These guys have no idea how to align a car, they just trust the machine and if it says it is good, then they think it is good no matter how the car drives. read more

I took the car by because it failed to start, I suspected something wrong with the electrical and for 1 1996 car with almost 300,000 miles, I'll keep repairing it until the car is totalled, I have a bunch of money on my hands to replace it or it has a major repair issue. So they did a diagnostic, found it was just the cables, which is good, they charged about $30 in labor to fix the issues. They spotted a hose on the radiator that was bulging and a fitting that was very corroded, they recommended replacing both and a complete coolant flush and test. It sounded OK, the cooling system is a critical system and I don't want to be stranded. They finished ahead of time, I used a coupon to save 15% off of labor saving me about $60 and was happy. The next day, I drove the car to work and parked in the garage. Within a few hours I received an email from security stating my car appeared to be leaking a lot of fluid. So I visually inspected it and found it to be coolant. I called Pep Boys and they were very apologetic and told me how to get it towed back to them for a gratis fix. The horror story is getting the car towed back to the Garland store from Richardson. Number 1, a car in a parking garage needs special equipment to be towed out of the garage and the towing service kept sending full size tow trucks after I repeatedly told them the max clearance was 7 foot 8 inches. Finally, after waiting 20 hours to get a toe (I did not wait at the car, I waited until I was told the truck was almost there.) They never dispatched the proper equipment, so I cautiously drove the car out of the garage making sure the gauges stayed safe. After loading unto the tow truck, the tow truck driver refused to tow it to the Garland store. I called the Garland store, they were very upset at the towing service for taking so long and NOT ever getting it right. Blain at Pep Boys told me to go ahead and let it be towed to the Plano store and they would send Chris and a technician to the store to fix the issue. After they fixed the issue, which was a poorly routed hose which rubbed against a pulley, causing premature failure, they then offered to drive my car to my house and drop it off. The worst part of any roadside assistance is the tow truck experience, regardless of the service from what I can tell. The Blaine and Chris at Pep Boys Garland Store, did the absolute best they could to rectify the situation, to the point they were going to send a technician to the garage where the car was located to fix it on the spot or get it out of the garage and to the Garland store without my having to be involved. The service desk at this store bent over backwards and DID NOT avoid me in getting this done! Would I have them rather get it right the first time, you bet, however; when EVERYTHING went sideways, they hung in there and got it done and delivered the car to my house. For a chain store, it is good. I use Pep Boys for all my standard type repairs because they are nationwide and I expect them to stand behind all of the Pep Boys repairs and they have todate. Are they perfect, NO, but they are about the best for a national chain auto repair operation. read more

Low tire alarm, pull off 635 and yep, tire flat. Change tire, wrong spare in new car. See hole. Fortunately was right next to Pep Boys, so drove over to get sruff to plug tire.Guy at register sees me pull in, walks over and LOCKS DOOR! It's 745, I'm thinking maybe they close at 730 and he forgot. Look and see they don't close till 8! I pull back in , try the doors again, and the 2 guys at register just look at me while I give them a WTH look. So I'm sitting in me car now, had 2 crackheads in the last half hour try to sell me fruit then loose sockets, can't leave my car here alone with the street people that keep walking by and checking me out.. really didn't want to sleep in my car to give them money the following morning. I got a flat tire on Sunday evening and couldn't find any other place open to repair the tire besides Pep Boys. Luckily, this place is amazing! After repairing my tire, I would all the way down from Plano to this store for my regular oil changes and other maintenance. The team working here is always helpful and clear. It is the only place that didn't try to get me to pay for "repairs" that weren't necessary. I would have continued going here but I recently moved out of Texas. Great place, though! read more

I have taken my 1995 Dodge 3/4 ton diesel 4wd to this shop several times in the past few years. I have always been polite and courteous and have found Jeff, Criss and all the techs to be the same. They completely rebuilt the front end under my truck and it drives and steers beautifully now. I have taken it back for a couple of minor corrections which could have cost me $200 elsewhere but was pleasantly surprised to hear " no charge its covered by warranty". You can't beat honesty like that. It took us two hours to put new headlight bulbs in. At auto zone l had to do it myself. As a disabled vet l can't bend over and reach things like l used to. Pep Boys struggled with those old bulbs and holders for 2 hours. No labor charge. I love the old truck God lets me have so l want to keep it up. I have found the place to assist me. read more

Went in for an alignment because my car was drifting left slightly. 1500 miles later a set of 7 month old front tires are completely bald on the inside edges, (told to me when the car was inspected.) I go back to the store and speak to the manager who tells me they will realign it and he will quote me on some new tires to which I told him he should replace them since they set up part of my alignment so far off when trying to fix it last time that it completely ate up a set of tires with less than 3k miles on them. The parts area is great & they have a good selection & a VERY friendly and helpful staff , why no 5 stars? its the repair area. If they were parts alone Id be giving them 5 stars on that Dept, which is fantastic.!! The repair area is less so They have fixed my Lincoln &Monte Carlo ok in the past, (10 years ago) but they dont do much in the way of complicated repairs these days & most of the work on the imports I drive these days is more than they are willing or able to tackle. Tires , oil change that sort of thing is OK but they dont seem to be very special. an OK place to get your car fixed on a Sunday, IF they are able to fix something that is not too complicated. read more

I tried to change a headlight on my 2014 Jeep Cherokee yesterday during 29 degrees weather. The access panels on my car under the wheel wouldn't budge. Frustrated, I took my car to the nearby Jeep dealership (Closed) then to Sams (Only tired/batteries - but they suggested I head to Pep Boys on NW Highway.) I took the headlight I already bought from another business with me and they gladly agreed to finish the job I already started and said they would only charge for labor. Once the job was done in about 10-15 minutes the guy told me no charge! He explained they were glad they didn't have to remove the bumper to get to the headlight. I needed new set of tires and he gave me all of the options that were available, gave me a quote and all applicable discounts. Randolph is very knowledgable and helpful. Everytime I've been to pep boys for anything it's always been a bust. They never have what I need. Today I went for an oil change after making an appointment on line. When I arrived they told me it would be an hour to an hour and a half before they could look at my car. So like what's the point of an appointment? Recently got my oil changed here. 2018 Chevrolet Silverado with only around 17k miles on it. Seemed fine at first and noticed a small oil spot in my parking spot. Didn't think much of it at first and then noticed it started to get larger. Thought at first maybe they were just messy with the drain or fill and residual oil was leaking off. Begin to monitor dip stick and throw cardboard under the truck along with visual inspection. Absolutely leaking from the filter, I'm guessing either loose filter or gasket from previous filter was left on and doubled up. Topping off and taking to the dealership ASAP. Not worth the trouble given I paid over $100 for an oil change. read more

Went in for a routine oil change and came out with loud noise and smoke from dipstick. Brought it back and they denied all responsibility. No manager Chris was on site and apparently he is never at the store when he's supposed to be. They claimed smoke was normal and that no way they messed up. Impossible. Went to Chevy dealership and was told it looked like a mishap happened during oil change , may have dropped something in or out wrong thing in. When I mentioned this all I got was attitude. Filed claim. Now since Chris is very unprofessional and trying to cover his tail Bc he wasn't in the store he tells Brenda Bey (agent) that it was running rough on arrival. He WASNT even there, why is he lying. Would give zero but not possible. Manager Chris is NEVER in the store when he's on the schedule. Went in for a routine oil change and came out with a LOUD engine and white smoke coming from the dipstick. Took it right back and they denied. Opened claim and now Manger Chris (who wasn't on site) says it was "running hard when we brought it in" can we CHECK THE CAMERAS bc there was no manager on site. This is all a SCAM! They are telling the claims agent Brenda Bey that car was running hard when it came in because he is trying to cover himself for not being in the store when he was supposed to. My car had no problems even have machine diagnostics ran weeks prior to this incident bc I got the one problem it was having fixed! He then says we can get it diagnosed for 90+ dollars. We had no problem paying once diagnostic showed it wasn't cause from the oil change. Nope all I got was rude saying we had to pay regardless and after telling us to be at store at 8 to get it done he proceeds to service cars there after me saying I'd have to wait until 11 bc he made the schedule "bc the other cars came in for work and not trying to blame us for their problems" um excuse me. My car was running no problems and now since an inexperienced tech fluked an oil change. INVESTIGATE this store! Brenda claims managers are always on site when I told her there wasn't one, she couldn't tell me which manager though. There are cameras to prove there was no manager on site yet they are taking the word of a manager who leaves the store often while on the clock. I work I don't have to false claim something like this happening I have no problem fixing my car ever but they're acting like i would try to scam them. If your employees or workers didn't mess up, why is the manager Chris trying to cover it up with lies? Now dealing with claims is even more frustrating, they answer 1 out of 100 calls and return 1 out of 200 calls when you leave a message. If their workload is too much to return a phone call within 48hrs then you guys should hire more agents. This is crazy, never met a million dollar business that tried to penny pinch and get over on regular customers. Your techs did this and I need action now! And just like James Solinger said that he would have everything reimbursed after someone came out to access the vehicle and it shows they caused it. But getting someone out to look for the car seems like it's never going to happen and it seems like it's a biased party. How is Pep boys the judge, jury , and executioner. Of course they will find themselves not a fault, of course Chris knows all the right things to say to make it as if they didn't cause the problem , of course if agents get paid to deny cases they are going to take the word of a non present lying manager. Check the tapes! Check the time slips. And we will see managers clocked in on duty but no manager on site , at home taking care of his kids. Corporate needs to look into this! I need it solved in a timely manner which I was quoted (48 hrs) but it's going on 7 days. I just want justice! Don't go here unless you want to interact with rude management and employees forced to step into the roles as management bc the real managers are somewhere chilling out of the store on the clock. They were quick to wanna check the tapes to show the oil change but never mentioned showing the tapes to prove manager who says "car ran rough when brought in" wasn't even in the viscidity or even at the store on his shift. A white guy in a white shirt told me it's not a skill to be a mechanic and that it's easy so no one messed the car up. Dealership said otherwise. And nba players still miss layups. Why lie if you know for fact you didn't do it. No need to add extra lies unless you're trying to sell your story bc you KNOW you're responsible. Waiting for action. Pep boys said if they deny it I'll have to take it to the courts. So let me get this straight Pep boys is biased hires no unbiased 3rd parties. They hire in a circle, all working together. I was going to get my oil changed at another shop, however the oil shop employee informed me that he didn't want to go through with replacing the oil. Informed me that I had a cracked oil cap and an open gasket, and that any money I spent now would be wasted upon repair. Normally I would've taken my car to my normal mechanic, but unfortunately he closed shop. So I decided to use this Pep boys, and it was a mistake. The workers there were informed of the two issues and instructed to look at the wheel bearing because of a strange high pitched whirring that wasn't coming from the engine. So my car is dropped off and then my stepdad picks it up the next day and takes it home. The next morning I start my car up and begin my commute. Except my car isn't accelerating even though I'm pressing down on the gas pedal, so I press harder and I mean HARDER, and it finally accelerates normally. But then when braking with the brake pedal, the emergency brake light comes on So I drive my car carefully around my neighborhood to determine if it's working correctly before I get out onto the busy roads. The gas pedal was working but there is like half an inch of space where I press down and it doesn't accelerate normally, and the emergency brake light comes on every time the brake pedal is pressed. Other than that it's fine. Until I get on the highway...at around 50 mph or over it started shaking. This shaking originated from the front passenger side. Honestly no big deal, my car has done this before after new tires being put on and the wheel being taken off and put back on. My tire shop fixed this issue when I brought it to their attention in 15 mins...but this is too complex of an instruction for this Pep Boys location. So I bring my car back in the afternoon. Tell them the aforementioned issues and leave my car. They inform me that the line connecting the gas pedal to the motor was "clinched" and that the emergency brake sensor was not properly inserted. Sounds like a sloppy job to me? They also inform me that it's the motor mounts that are making the car shake so they didn't do anything and I will still be experiencing the issue. No mention of rebalancing the tire at all like I asked them to do. But at this point, I'm so fed up with them that I leave. I didn't want to take my car back in the first place to begin with. So anyway gas pedal issue is better...but still sticking slightly, never had this issue before. Going to get new brakes anyway soon so I'll be able to get the tires rebalanced. I'm very sure this will fix that issue. Because it wasn't shaking before so how could the motor mounts make it shake? Perhaps they messed something else up as well? I want to get another mechanic's opinion on this but I don't have one I trust so not sure when I'll be able to find out if they did or not. Save yourself the time and trouble and stay away from this Pep Boys location. Perhaps Pep Boys in general. I know I won't be returning anytime soon. read more

Came here for oil change on a Saturday morning was being helped by Randolph the service manager. I appreciated the outstanding customer service that he and staff provided. Randolph and staff wore very attentive and helpful. Because of their efforts it took about 30 minute wait, I was very satisfied. I will continue to visit this store in the future. Before I came here I had went to my dealership (prestige ford) where i purchased my car I was very upset their customer service did not compare with staff here. I left very disappointed. read more
