    Terrible customer service and inexperienced mechanics. A year ago, I came to this Pep Boys for a batter install. They installed it incorrectly, causing it to leak battery fluid (determined by a licensed Subaru mechanic at another shop). I received a new battery under their warranty and my own mechanic replaced it. Less than a year later, that battery failed. I went back to this same Pep Boys as it was under warranty. They confirmed that it was warranty and that I would not be charged over the phone when I made the appointment. When I arrived for the appointment, a mechanic confirmed once again that this would be covered under warranty. When the manager, Jose, called me to check out he told me that I owed just over $200. I let him know that this service was under warranty. He had to ask someone for assistance. He then told me that I owed $17 for installation. I read their contract to him which states that "Pep Boys will replace the part, at no charge to the customer." My invoice also states "30 month free replacement." Regardless of the contract and invoice, he insisted that I had to pay for the install. I paid and left because the price of the installation was not worth the headache of a continued back and forth with a manager who had absolutely no knowledge of the company's contract. AVOID THIS LOCATION, or better yet, go to your local auto mechanic instead.

    Pep Boys is a great place for picking up parts or for getting parts fixed. Over the years I've only ever had to come here to have a headlight or brake light replaced, but I always leave satisfied. Even when they didn't have what I was looking for, they were able to send me to a mechanic that was able to help me. The service dept. has always been helpful and treated me as an equal. I just hate it when a guy talks down to me, because he thinks that I don't know anything about cars. Sure, I could change the bulb on my own, but that's not happening with a 5 year old running circles around me! This location has a great waiting area with comfy seats, charging stations, coffee, snacks and a large tv. I would've given 5 stars, except for the fact that their products and services are slightly overpriced. Nonetheless, I'll be back the next time my light goes out.

    I have the unpleasant experience during my service visit with pepboys in Berlin CT, I have accompanied with my friend during this service visit and he also got annoyed based on this service visit. I came in for my vehicle - 2013 Chevy Malibu - check engine light issue, honestly we are not mechanic- we are consumers, I told to Pablo clearly I am planning to sell this car and I want this check engine light in the dashboard to get fixed, I got an estimate of 981.82$ to fix - I paid (have the proof of receipt) And while getting the vehicle delivery out on may20th evening at 5:20pm EST - I have requested mechanic to come over, take a look and test ride before delivering the vehicle out as I paid nearly 1000$ want to make sure everything works right, but Pablo did not accept my request and he mentioned mechanics already inspected and you are all set, ready and good to go.. Hence I took the vehicle delivery out and while on the way back to home - my Malibu check engine light came ON and the original issue which I reported during the service visit(ac off due to high engine temperature came back on in dashboard) that was my original issue and purpose for my visit to Berlin CT, pepboys. I immediately turned my vehicle and dropped back to pepboys to take a look( this is the reason I requested mechanic to have a test drive and inspect before making the car delivery out but pablo did not accept my request and delivered without proper inspection) - I have been charged 981$ for nothing(issue not fixed and original issue is still on)

    Pep boys receipt 1-year ago for one tire service after being told they can't repair only one.

    Went for service after my left-front (driver-side) tire had a small puncture. I was first told that they could not salvage my tire as there was a small nail found in my tire and due to my car being all-wheel drive that I needed to pay for all 4 tires which would have cost me $1,000. When I refused service and asked for other alternatives I was disrespected and mistreated by a pep boys servicemen who decided to talk under his breathe and tell me to get tf out. I simply left and went to Town Fair tire who removed the nail from my tire and patched the hole which cost me $13.24. Big difference then paying $1,000. Pep boys will scam you if you allow them too. Switch to Town Fair for any tire repairs.

    Checked in for a nail in tire issue. Had to wait a while but the tech told me the nail didn't puncture all the way through so he pulled it out, sprayed it and check my tire pressure all for NO CHARGE!! thank you for the honesty and excellent customer service!!!

    These guys fix flats for free - can you believe that? Since I bought some parts there previously (and it wasn't a tire) when I later returned to get a flat repaired it was no charge - what a great surprise. It is just amazing how many employees they have standing around doing nothing. Very attentive, friendly, ready, willing and of course available to help - but how can they afford a payroll like that? Place needs a little cleaning and bathrooms are atrocious, but overall I'm a fan!

As I briefly perused the inventory, most of his tires have a lot of life left. Will you get a matching set of four? Probably not, but can you argue with $100 to replace ALL your tires? Perfect for someone with a beater that just uses their car to get around town and doesn't see any sense in spending much for new tires. More important to this review: my situation. Balancing tires is somewhat of an art form. And god did I have some horrendous tires and wheels on my truck. Honestly, they were beyond repair. But even so, Rolando and his helper ALMOST got rid of all the vibration related to poor balancing on my original wheels. It was a good job given what he had to work with. But finally, I had it with the stock tires and wheels. So two weeks later, I craigslisted me a nice set of gently used alloy wheels with Goodyear Kevlar All-Terrain tires on them, and I took them straight to Ronaldo. He ran into some challenges during the balancing process, but the result? PURRRRRRFECT. No vibration whatsoever. And amazingly, he charges $5 to mount and balance a tire. CRAZY! I tip him every time. Technically, the total cost of services rendered during my two visits was $55, but I've paid him $80. Worth it. Yeah, it's just a little tire shop crammed into a garage in New Britain. But aren't people more important than presentation? Ronaldo Cruz is a good man, and you should give him your business for sure. Hablan Español!

I asked for the tire rotation and balance and didn't get or pay for it, but didn't really have time this time. They do speak Spanish here....with an interpreter on hand. Hours on Saturday were 8-6pm...was a little tough to communicate that and get an answer. They were ready to replace my 120$ Hancook tires with a 25 dollar tire...which would have been fine. But I made it clear I wanted to keep my tire if at all possible, and they removed a 1 inch screw and just charged me for the patch, which I would have to say is honesty since I dropped it off and picked it up.     full disclosure, this experience was nearly a year ago but the location was just suggested to me by…read moreyelp so I'm writing this up now. They aren't great at sticking to appointments. I brought the car in for an oil change and to troubleshoot a lack of heat on the driver side. They advised they confirmed the heat was working despite not letting it run long enough to possibly get up to temp. I told them I would go run some errands and come back to show them what the issue was. Before I was able to get back I was called and asked to come back becasue the bay the car was in "had some fluid" in it. I asked what kind and they said they would figure it out. it was oil. The filter gasket was cracked and it leaked nearly all the new oil out in my 15 minutes of running around. When it was back in the bay they also left the plastic skid plate hanging by one screw under the filter and I could see the oil dripping off of it. #1. Troublehsoot the customer complaints #2. How are you going to not notice a cracked filter gasket, or did you just not care? #3. If you can't identify that a mystery fluid in the bay is engine oil you should lose your ASE certification. #4. After coming back the following day (and sitting in their lobby for hours, my airbag light was on (new) and I was told they don't touch airbags and I need to go to the dealer. They did fix that when I asked them how they replaced the heater core without taking the dash apart which would have required removing at least the cable for the passenger airbag indicator. That only took them 20 minutes to fix after I told them I would be having the dealer invoice them if I needed to go there. I have the lifetime alignment service so that is the only thing the vehicle will be back in for and only because I'm sure they won't refund it several years after purchase.

My car never left the space I parked it in. Why bother making an appointment if they're not even going to TRY to honor it? I took my key back and left with no oil change (no apology, either). All in all these people wasted four hours of my day. Congratulations, Firestone, you have permanently lost a longtime customer.

    I have been doing business with this company for a few years…read morenow with my Jeep Grand Cherokee. A few weeks ago, my Jeep engine light started to flash on my way back from my son's basketball game. It got the point where my gas pedal was on the floor and I couldn't accelerate at all. I called Computer Tune and Lube and Dan, the owner, told me to drive it straight to their shop. So I did, and he said he'll have his team take a look and give me a call. Gave me a loaner (2010 Toyota corolla, that sounded worse than my Jeep). Told me not to drive it on Monday (day of the blizzard). With a quarter tank of gas and the way it sounded I just drove it home. Within a few hours I got a call from Dan. He explained that "fuel started to leak on my exhaust tank, which caused my catallactic converter, radiator, temp gauge, etc to not work properly and he'll have his guy start tonight if I give the okay. He told me it would be around $3,800 plus tax for everything. I felt EXTREMELY pressured. I told him to let me talk to my husband and I'll give you a call back. He said, "I'm leaving for the day, and so will my guy unless you give me the okay to go ahead. Otherwise, I can't get to working on your car for another week or so." So I did give the go ahead since I needed my Jeep fixed soon with 6 kids and activities and sports going on next week. Fast forward to last week, I picked up my car on Wednesday and paid in full the $4,267.28. The invoice was 2 pages long! Dan even said " you got a lot of life left in that Jeep. My brother pays over $1,300 for his new jeep, so no need to get a new car anytime soon" Well, yeah especially since I just put $4,000 into it. On Saturday, I drove my jeep on the highway it started to flash with the engine light again. Then my temperature gauge went all the way up to "H." And then it went right back down to "C." Thought it was a fluke so drove it home. On my street, I could barely accelerate and it started to smoke. After getting a second opinion, from another mechanic, they told me this is the shops fault. He said "you just paid to have your radiator replaced which is what cools your engine and prevents it from overheating. See if they can take a look at it free of charge since they caused it." On Monday, I went in person to talk to Dan and see if he could resolve this. He told me that it's my "fault I drove it. I would have to bring it back in the shop and he'd look at it and if it's on them, they would fix it otherwise I would pay for the tow and all other costs associated with it." I told him my jeep never overheated in the past and I just got my radiator fixed from your team and now my engine overheats. He says "it's an old car and has a lot of issues." I felt scammed and didn't trust him after that. I contacted the BBB and decided to write this review to warn others, especially women. His shop caused my jeep to overheat and now after $4,000+ of repairs I can't even drive it. It's NEVER overheated before and I just paid for all those parts to be replaced and then my car overheats and he won't even look at it free of charge? Women, moms, beware, this guy takes FULL ADVANTAGE.
