Brisket Sandwich
Paddy S.

Bun too small for the stacks of meat! I ordered the brisket sandwich and it was pretty darn tasty. The sandwich is overloaded with tender slices with a good smoky flavor. The beer selection and service are fine. When in the establishment, it is easy to forget it is attached to a gas station. Outdoor seating with nice fireplaces are available but this time, it was too hot for me. I will likely return to try out other menu items.

Shrimp tacos.

Penryn Grill is fairly new family owned grill located right next to the 76 station. I saw some posts and thought we should try it out. We went on our way up the I-80. I tried the Shrimp Tacos. I got 3 impressive tacos with large yummy shrimp. The best shrimp tacos in many many years. My husband got Smoked Brisket plate. Excellent. It is a thin (but not too thin) and tender. Has a light amount of BBQ sauce. The option side is Cole slaw but hubby substituted Fries and the fries were very good. They have a large tap selection of beers and option of wine. Staff was very nice, friendly and helpful. Definitely worth a stop.

At first driving in to a 76 station, we were confused! They did an amazing job with the decor. This place is incredibly comfortable. I think we would describe it as contemporary-rustic in an upscale way. Ashley gave us great suggestions and was very knowledgeable about the food and drinks. She has a delightful personality. The food is absolutely incredible! We tried many of the appetizers. There are several things that are "Fridays only", so I think we will have to come back again very soon. This is truly a hidden gem! There are lots of TV screens for sports enthusiasts. We would highly recommend this experience.

Crispy Chicken Dinner - tasty and very hot & crispy thigh and drumstick, legit mashed potatoes and gravy and veggies.

Today was our first visit to Penryn Grill and it lived up to the good reviews. Great food and service and very reasonable prices! A rarity in today's world, that's for sure. The place feels comfortable, lots of TVs for those who are interested, and super clean!! Our server, Bre 2, couldn't have been better and was not only efficient but informative and really friendly! Also a rarity in today's world. Keep up the good work Bre 2! We had the crispy chicken dinner and a quesadilla. Chicken was tasty, hot and extra crispy, legit real mashed potatoes and gravy, veggies and a delicious little honey bun too. Great meal for $14! Quesadilla was four big pieces with pico and sour cream. We subbed guac for sour cream, for a minimal charge. Our drinks were a lavender lemonade and a Michelob draft. Both cold and hit the spot on this unseasonably hot day. They make fresh soup every day and will go back to try the clam chowder on their Seafood Friday. If you're looking for a new place and like to support local businesses, try Penryn Grill and then spread the news!

Connected to the 76 gas station off Hwy 80 and Penryn sits a charming little restaurant with a lovely outdoor seating area! We were lucky enough to try this place during its opening week. The interior is super cute, and the staff is fantastic! We enjoyed our visit and would love to come back, but we did feel that some things could be improved. We got the deviled eggs, which were delicious, but there were only three on the plate as a starter--you'd think there would be a couple more. The chicken wings were served naked with a side of dipping sauce, but the waitress kindly offered to bring us a bowl to toss them ourselves. We also split a burger and a side of mac 'n cheese, both of which were yummy. We're looking forward to coming back and trying other options on the menu!

Best shrimp tacos

I tried this place out. The shrimp tacos were very good. The beer and wine selection was abundant with local varieties. With the quality of the tacos, I am sure the rest of the menu is just as good

Burger bun was well done.

I had the brisket sandwich. It was tasty and tender. It's a bit pricey, so be prepared.

So this specific Shell Gas Station is kinda an interesting gas station. The only reason why, is…read morebecause the store is well-lit, A/C works upon entrance and isn't hot, they have numerous drinks to choose from to quench your summer thirst to stay chill: alcoholic beverages (wine, beer, liquor), non-alcoholic beverages (juice, soda, water, tea, energy drinks, coffee). Namm sayinn.. Snacks wise is subpar, but I prefer Costco Snacks, it is more flavorable and easy on the pocket. Quite to my surprise, they also sell dairy (milk/yogurt). Like, who buys milk or yogurt at a gas station? LOL! Other than that, good gas, but is somewhat expensive compared to Costco Gas, but the quality of gas is easy on the car compared to other cheaper gas stations. My engine will thank me in the long run, yo. Other than that, they also sell Lotto Tickets and Scratchers, and the jackpot for lottery tickets for Mega Millions, Super Lotto, and Powerball lottery are updated quite often after each loss when no winner has won the jackpots for each category yet--Like me! Other than that, best place to go to get your lottery tickets. And GOOD LUCK California Residence. May the odds be always in your favor! Side note: Restrooms are a hit or miss on cleanliness and bad odor is why I knocked down 2 stars. Sighhhhh!

Special thank you to Cashier Michelle!…read more Long-winded story ahead... It's been a few years since this gas station opened up in our neighborhood. We haven't stopped by as much due to having an electric vehicle as our main driver and using the Chevron app (with discounts on gas) for our other car. On the evening of Sept 30, I had an unusual dilemma. A couple years ago, someone had gifted me a Visa gift card. I had used it here and there but then last month discovered that it would soon be expiring on 9/2026. Told myself to make sure I spent the balance before the last day of September, but you know how those Visa gift cards are---sometimes if you try to spend more than the balance, it just rejects the entire purchase (instead of giving you an option to pay for the remainder in another form). So on Sept 30, I was trying to spend the remaining $15 at home--ordering something from Amazon, Starbucks, etc but when it came to putting in the expiration date of 9/2026, all the platforms I tried alerted me to put in a valid expiration date (since in some parts of the US, it was already Oct 1). It was getting late, around 9pm, and I decided I'd have to try to spend the balance at a local store in person, instead of online. The closest business that was still open was Chevron, so I decided to head there. As I was driving there, I noticed Maverik across the street and thought about going there. But since I was already in the left turn lane, I continued to Chevron. Spent quite a bit of time wandering the aisles, trying to figure out what to spend the $15 on. Didn't really NEED anything... So finally I decided on some bottles of Jarrito's and Frappuccinos. The cashier rang me up and I put in the gift card. It said "Declined." *sigh* I wasn't sure if it was the expiration date that was the issue or the total price being too close to the balance amount, so I suggested to the cashier that I ring up one item at a time with the gift card. However, a line started to form at that time, so I decided to wait till the cashier rang up all the customers before trying. Long story short, it got declined again. *deep sigh* I asked the clerk if there were other buttons to press, like a credit button, versus debit or gift card, but she said there was only one option for "CARD." Dejected, I put everything back on the shelves and told the clerk I would try Maverik. I was unsure if the issue was with the expiration date or a lower balance stopping the transaction or something else. Got to Maverik and was greeted by Michelle. The establishment was brightly light, seemed inviting and very clean. I explained my dilemma with the gift card and decided I'd just try with a pack of Mentos first. Despite the card saying "debit," Michelle said to make sure I clicked on "credit." A few seconds later, it was approved. I looked at Michelle in shock, surprised at how easy it was, since it had taken so long at Chevron. Grabbed a few Frappuccinos and smoothies and then went back to Michelle, hoping for the best but expecting the worse. Once again, Michelle was able to process the transaction effortlessly. Not sure if it's a difference in Maverik vs Chevron's payment platform or just lack of cashier experience at Chevron, but Michelle at Maverik was able to process my transaction efficiently and easily. I was pretty amazed. Had I not had the difficult experience at Chevron, I might not have appreciated Maverik as much. Went home super happy that my gift card was now at a $0 balance. And now we have a fridge full of yummy drinks. :P Maverik & Michelle FTW!

I got to admit I love how wide the gas station lanes are outside-this is the kind of gas station I want to frequent always. Walking inside I was really taken aback by the sheer size of the place..I guess I should've figured it out by just looking at the size of the building but yeah I was still surprised. Inside they have so much ready-to-eat food available-so much grab-and-go options but the thing that looked the most intriguing was the brisket wraps-next time I'm there,I will for sure be trying those brisket wraps. They have a pretty killer beer selection as well located in their stand-alone beer locker that keeps the beer ice cold. I can't quite put my finger on it but I just really liked the vibe in that gas station-the employees seemed happy and friendly and everything was super organized and clean. It's one of those rare gas stations where you don't feel like you're just stopping for gas--you actually want to go inside and look around. I can say with some certainty that this is my gas station of choice in the Rocklin area. It's a good one......Now to check out Buc-ee's.
