After a scenic motorcycle ride, our group of 11 stopped at Whorton's Market for lunch and breathtaking views. The food consistently impresses, and this visit was no exception. With everyone ordering something different, we got a good sense of their diverse menu. My salami sandwich was outstanding, easily one of the best I've had. Several others raved about their burgers, calling them the best they'd ever eaten. The menu also includes hot dogs, prepared hot food, and pizza. For those in a hurry, pre-packaged options are available. Despite our large group and other customers, the friendly staff efficiently handled our orders, getting our food to us much faster than a traditional sit-down restaurant could have. We enjoyed our meals at the outdoor picnic tables, taking in the stunning, panoramic views from high above the treetops. Whorton's Market is a must-visit in the area. I used to like this store. We love Foresthill and often stay here, sometimes for weeks. However, on Sunday, June 21, we had a strange encounter with one of the employees. Around 7 pm, we entered the store in a great mood as always, and I was stopped by an associate named Luke, who told me I couldn't shop while carrying my backpack. Luke suggested that I leave it at the entrance, on a pile of bottled water. When I expressed my concern that someone might take it, he said, "The chance is pretty low." I found it interesting, considering that the chance that I would still something apparently seemed high enough to justify the request. I couldn't believe it - especially because many people come to this store while camping or hiking, and carrying a backpack seems completely normal here. I also hadn't noticed any sign about the policy. When I said that I would rather leave the store, Luke replied, "Sounds good!" I do not recall ever being treated this way in a grocery store before. In the future, I will try to avoid this store as much as possible. read more

Amazing burger and curly fries. Probably the best western burger I have had. Juicy burger cooked to medium, perfectly crisp onion rings, chewy crisp bacon, bbq sauce and all standard produce lettuce, pickle, tomato, mayo, and mustard. Only complaint I had to ask for ketchup for fries and got to picnic table a 1/4 mile from store and no napkins. Talk about messy. read more

Full service market in the foothills of Foresthills. If your going camping and forgot something this is the place. In addition to being a market it also has full service deli hot and cold sandwiches. Sandwiches priced reasonable. Shop local instead of the big sandwich shop. Then you'll want to take that sandwich outside and have a wonderful view of the American River Canyon. Friendly service staff. Plenty of free parking. Picnic tables, be prepared to clean your self. Restrooms are outside and your taking a chance on the porta-pottys. So plan accordingly. read more

We went to Foresthill for our boys cross country run and stopped for a bite to eat at Worton's market. The staff was welcoming and they were able to get through a line of 50 plus people within minutes! We sat outside to eat and our view was beautiful. It's a great local source for food. It's pretty well stocked very friendly, employees and great delicatessen.

Popped in here for snacks after adventuring on the Western States Trail. We got a make-your-own turkey/provolone and everything was sliced nice and thin with a fresh sourdough roll. The sandwich was also way bigger than expected and overall just a well prepared deli sandwich! It may sound funny to get so excited but a quality deli sandwich is NOT that easy to find... The market also had a great craft beer selection at affordable prices. Would definitely recommend stopping by when you're in the area! read more

You're immediately confronted with a breathtaking view of Foresthill's beautiful valley landscape expanding to the snowy mountains of Tahoe. I proceed into the store to be greeted with a very inviting ambience that felt like home, compounded with the vast selection of products, I was impressed. I continued to explore the options at their Deli and I was lost in possibilities. I ended up ordering one of the best burgers I've ever indulged in plus a side a soup to pair with the rainy day. Worton's is a community favorite, and for good reason. They provide several functions for locals and tourists, including (but not limited to) providing fresh produce, abundantly stocked shelves and cold cases, quality meat selections and even food made to order. If you find yourself up on the mountain and want lunch or dinner, you have to try a burger, sandwich or pizza from their deli counter. Give the workers a break and call in large orders, and understand your brief wait for your food is well worth it. The staff is friendly (as long as you're not cranky towards them) and the family who owns the store supports the community in so many ways! I love seeing the kids from the high school who are employed at Worton's developing the strong work ethic they'll need to be successful in life. *Note~try "Worton's Salsa" in the cooler by the produce. I have really enjoyed this place and have been here many times making a food or grocery purchase between shifts, spending some time at the many picnic tables. However I Was just told by an employee here that because we work for a rafting company we can only park here long enough to buy their ( very overpriced ) food and eat it in a timely fashion and then be on our way. I've been frequenting this business mainly for its convenient location. I love Worton's breakfast burritos-worth waking up early for. The fact that they offer salsa and/or sour cream with it is an added bonus. The chicken flautas in the deli hot case are delicious. However like others have said both on here and Google, their customer service is severely lacking. The staff at the deli is rarely friendly nor helpful. They act as if I'm disrupting their day, like I'm a nuisance. Tell you what-make everything grab and go for your deli customers so we don't have to interact with you at all. There was a point where I wanted to do a special order for their coffee which I love so much. Now I see why y'all like the Peerless chocolate macadamia nut coffee and raid it early in the mornings-HA! Two different staff members of Worton's assisted me at one point in regards to ordering said coffee. They both never got back to me, after waiting for months. One of them deliberately avoided me when I was shopping in the store. Their bathrooms for the public are port o pottys which aren't cleaned nor maintained enough. Half the time the pump sink to wash your hands is broken or filthy. Trash isn't emptied enough. Today was the last straw. Since Worton's has very little shade midday, I parked in the new rock parking area alongside Foresthill road. They recently paved the parking lot, added this new little parking area and redid the outdoor bench layout-it looks nice. I was relaxing in my car enjoying my deli goodies from Worton's, including the above mentioned chicken flautas. This guy in a gray sports car parks right next to me and talks to me. He tells me this little parking lot is for staff only. I say I'm sorry, I didn't know and I just wanted some shade. I guess I should've told him I was a customer because what he said next was rude and offensive. This staff member had the nerve to tell me there are "Park and Rides" elsewhere and that I had to move my car. My response was that there was no sign. He retorted that they just built it two days ago. His nasty attitude and to have the nerve to tell me to go to a "Park and Ride" when I'm a paying customer really upset me. You have a beautiful area for people to sit outside, enjoy the view and eat their food. I chose to do this in my car and I get admonished like a vagrant. I couldn't get out of there fast enough. I don't care if who you are even a member of the Worton's family- you don't talk to people like that. read more

My absolute favorite small town market. We recently moved to this glorious little gem, Foresthill CA from Auburn. Worton's is a quaint market that has an incredible view! Come for the view, a deli sandwich or something yummy from the hot case. Enjoy a picnic on the tables overlooking pure beauty! As a guy who lives in the large suburbs of San Francisco, it's always a different experience for me to visit a small grocery store in a small town. However, this store is a bit bigger than you might think. From the perspective of a city guy who sees sterile, corporate looking stores e everywhere, it was nice to visit a grocery store in the middle of the forest. Brown, wooden interior, with a mind blowing view of the mountains from the window by the deli. I'm sure the employees are over it, but it's pretty cool for a new timer to see. Prices are good from what I'm used too. Wish stuff cost this little where I live. Staff is very young, which is nice to see in a place like this. Good first time work experience. Cashier was nice enough, but he didnt exactly seem thrilled to be there. But I was the exact same way when I first started working, so I'm not gonna judge. Came across this market as my husband and I went to looking at some wedding venues in forest hill. First impression looks like a small town market that's is kind of in the middle of the forest. But once I went inside it was larger than I actually thought it would be. This market gives you the feeling of a small town it seems most people that were there all new each other or were connected in some way. I didn't look too much around in the store to compare pricing on items. I was most interested in their deli section. My husband and I ordered off their grill section I ordered a custom burger which was one the best burgers I've had. The best part is that outside the market they have these cute picnic tables that you can sit, enjoy the view and eat at the same time. We live in Sacramento and at least once a year, we take a drive to Worton's for the Bigfoot Burger, my husband's artery-clogging favorite. The staff are friendly. Deli prices are typical. Best small town grocery store ever! Everyone that works there ALWAYS has a smile on their face. Most of the employees feel like family to us, especially my little girl. They have a very nice selection of meats and produce as well as most of your other grocery needs. The BEST part of Worton's is the deli area!
