Colfax Market (known as "The Corner Market" to locals) is one of the longest running and most…read moretrusted businesses still operating in Colfax. Paul and his employees and family have been serving this community for longer than I have lived in Colfax and I've lived here almost 20 years (on and off). This store offers pretty standard market items with a comparably better selection of local products, but what really sets this market apart from similar markets is the owner, Paul. My opinion is that he operates on a value system that has been greatly lost in this country. Hard work + excellent service = successful business. It becomes obvious when you see the store owner himself unloading huge boxes of products into the store, in the freezing cold of the early morning or when you move back to Colfax after 12 years and he STILL recognizes you and treats you as if you never left (I realize these are very specific examples, but I only have my own observations to go off of here). My conclusion: If you're in Colfax, whether you're just stopping through on your way to the slopes or trails or slots, or if you are a local, get your gas at the gas stations, but please make the two minute drive to Colfax Market to buy your market items. We need to support our local independent businesses in this community because we have lost most of them and there are plenty of vicious corporations trying to end the rest of them for good, waiting outside the towns borders like a pack of rabid dogs outside a rabbit cage. Corporations do not care about you or the locals or the community. They just look at you as a source of revenue to exploit.

Known for their pies, it's a great place to stop and grab lunch, snacks for your picnic, or just do…read moresome shopping. There were so many options to look and choose from, that you can easily get distracted on what you came to grab. The salsa and dip bar had a variety of options for any occasion. Chips and guac, to spreads and meat options as well. The hot case also had a handful of options to choose from if you need a quick snack for the road. We picked up a couple of coffee pound cakes, and already were making a list of stuff for our next visit. Staff were nice, and polite when checking us out at the end.

Their produce is so fresh and delicious. I especially love their spring and summer fruits. And their squash is top notch! There burgers a pretty good as well. They sell many other items like, honey and dried fruits and so much more. I really want to give this place a higher rating however, I cannot due to the poor customer service. They have young people working here who acted like you're bothering them if you ask a question or they look at you as though you don't belong, either way they are not friendly nor welcoming whatsoever. I really hope this changes because that's not okay. They have both indoor and outdoor seating for dining or just to relax and enjoy the atmosphere.

If you were to ask the 400 or so residents of Dutch Flat which drink they prefer, the overwhelming…read moreresponse would be Bud Light. That makes Abe the biggest Bud Dealer in the area :P - This store is the Lifeline of Dutch, when the snow hits, you better believe that Abe will be there, when the hunger hits, Abe will be there, when the Diapers need Changing, Abe will be there (to sell you the diapers, not change the baby) As a community, Dutch Flat would not be what it is without the Trading Post. In fact, I hereby decree that on your way to Reno or Tahoe, you are required to stop by Dutch Flat Trading Post and support the most important local business in town, Abe's. WE LOVE YOU ABE!!!!!!

I'm here to say the only bad one star review from I dunno who, but not listed as from DF should be ignored. ABE has been the only owner I have ever known in the past 18 years - he is dedicated to this town, to this community. The pricing is posted and more than fair - he is here rain shine or massive snow. If power is out he is STILL here to serve our community and he is well loved throughout. If you're ever lucky enough to see Dutch Flat and shop in this circa 1800's Trading Post - you will savor the experience, this little store and this historic town. 5-star all the way!

These are the best milkshakes you will get on the Pacific Crest Trail, hands-down. They have a multitude of flavors, including fresh fruit and berries, they are the perfect consistency, and they are only $10! It's actually a steal. The chicken sandwich was juicy, burgers were delightful, and onion rings were crunchy. I literally have no feedback.

I'm glad it actually worked out that way, because this place was absolutely amazing! Such a cool little country store. Groceries, drinks, beer, snacks, some hardware, toiletries a small wine/liquor section in the back, and a great little deli. There were cute signs all over the walls. I decided to try a cup of "luau Larry's. not so famous homemade chili." The very nice and friendly lady working in the store said that "luau Larry" is her husband. Let me tell you, he makes an amazingly fine chili.... For a 'cup" of chili, it was huge! I enjoyed it very much. I found out that the chili is made with ribeye! It was delicious. It was Hearty, it had a deep rich flavor, and it had a nice little "kick" to it. Well, within what I like for spicy. The lady in the store did tell me that Larry "tweaks" the recipe a little bit from time to time, but she says it's always a great chili. I do not doubt that at all. She asked me if I wanted cheese and onions, and I said, of course! I love fresh purple onions. They are both sweeter and milder than the white or yellow onions. They really added to the chili, as did the cheese. The chili and a soda ran me about 11 bucks. A little bit high, sure, but this is a tiny town up in the middle of the mountains. I get it. Besides, for the quantity and quality, it was worth every single penny. I would come back just for another cup of that chili. Thanks.
