I am hoping Penner's saved out butts. My son and I were excited by the idea of buying a car at the local auto auction. Ha ha. The extreme caution that should have hit me before we plunked down our 3 grand cash hit me only after taking the car to Penner's and finding out everything wrong with it. Cracked engine mount, no rear brakes, massive oil leak, shredding belts, bald tires. Jerry's estimate for this work was about what it would have cost to fix the engine mount alone in my neck of the woods. Jerry was sympathetic to our situation and knew we couldn't take the car on the 3 hour drive home. Thanks to his willingness to turn on a dime for us and fix all the problems he found in less than 30 hours at a very reasonable cost, we seem to have added a good car with lots of mileage left to the family "fleet" without significant inconvenience and while still paying less than retail. I'm still wondering if buying this car was a temporarily insane decision, But thanks to Penner's, we might actually have a decent, safe car that will see our kid through college & beyond. About halfway through my road trip, my truck's alternator went out about 5 minutes outside of Orland, where I had to stay for that night. The next morning, I called AAA to tow my truck to Penner's and had already mentally forfeited that day to waiting for the repairs. The owner was a nice guy, straight shooter, and he personally called me during the process to give a quote and then provide updates on the installation. It took them about 90 minutes from delivery until I was back on the road again. These guys saved me a whole lot of stress and time on my trip, and handled my business efficiently and, most importantly, honestly. It's such a relief when honest people help out others and don't exploit them in their time of need. I couldn't recommend Penner's any more! Didn't have to wait very long made an appointment within three days. They gave me a ride home and pick me up when they were finished with my vehicle they fixed what was wrong and the trucks never ran so good and they were very economical honest good folks so hard to find these days I'd recommend my grandmother to them read more

While driving from Sacramento to Oregon, my wife and I had our check engine light turn turn on. We stopped by an AutoZone (very friendly folks) to ask where we might get a quick diagnostic test. Without skipping a beat, the person at AutoZone recommended Penner's Automotive. When we arrived at Penner's, there was very friendly, knowledgeable mechanic/shop owner ready to help. He figured out the problem in no time and we were soon on our way. I wish I had a mechanic like him to rely on in Sacramento, CA. On Labor Day weekend on my trip to Oregon already 150 miles form home, my Jeep's differential decided to give me grief & it was blessing to have found Penner's Auto Service. Jerry and his brother were beyond kind to me as I was trying to figure out how to continue my trip so not to miss a wedding the next day. They were generous of their time, knowledge and all around really friendly guys. They let me know what my Jeep needed, time frames and cost for them to do the job and like any good friend would do, they genuinely cared. Since I needed to be back to work before they could get the needed parts, ( holiday weekend remember?) I ended up towing it back to the bay area a few days later but they generously let me park it near their shop until I returned from Oregon in the rental car from another great local shop they referred me to (American Rental and Leasing.)
