I never thought I'd be the kind of person writing a five-star review for a truck stop, but honestly? Pilot Flying J Travel Center deserves it. My husband and I have been stopping here for years whenever we're driving between the Bay Area and Chico, especially on those nights where you're just too tired to safely keep driving. Over time, this became one of our regular "safe stop" locations, and every single visit has been consistently good. The biggest thing for me personally was the showers. The FIRST time we ever used the truck stop showers, I was honestly nervous because I had never done anything like that before. We even paid for separate shower rooms originally because I didn't know how the process worked, then I awkwardly asked the employee if it was okay for my husband to stay with me because I felt weird going alone. They were incredibly kind and completely understanding about it. And honestly? Those shower rooms were SUPER clean. Like... surprisingly clean. Clean floors, clean towels, hot water, enough room to actually breathe, and it genuinely felt safer and more comfortable than I expected. It completely changed my perspective on truck stop travel stops after that. The entire property is always really well maintained too: * bathrooms stay clean * coffee is consistently fresh * hot food is actually HOT * shelves stay stocked * parking lot feels safe * nobody bothers you when you're resting That last part matters a lot. There's a huge difference between stopping somewhere that feels sketchy versus somewhere you can actually relax for a minute. Most times we've stopped here, there have even been local officers taking breaks or grabbing coffee too, which honestly adds another level of comfort when you're traveling late at night. We actually stopped here again today on our way to the Redwoods, and it still looks fantastic. They've remodeled parts of it over the years, and everything honestly looks even better now than it used to. For a truck stop to earn repeat loyalty for FIVE YEARS says a lot. The only reason I'm pulling off the 5 in Orland here at the Pilot truck stop is they have a Wendy's attached to the truck stop that's open 24 hrs as are the gas pumps. They have all flavors of gas including diesel. Since we stopped I might as well fill up this gas hog Suburban SUV. All the gas prices locally off this exit are the same, so no bargains. Maverick is just across the way with the same prices. Restrooms are super clean (at least the girl's side), and you can get any kinda road food you might imagine inside. We stopped for lunch at the Wendy's, mostly just cause I had a 2 for 1 coupon on some burgers. Lots of commercial truck traffic here so watch out where you're going. read more

En route to Lassen National Park, this was the primary fuel and rest stop. I appreciated the RV lanes. There was no challenges maneuvering at the pumps. That's a plus! For those who follow my reviews, by now you know I have to have them wings at these locations. LOL. Besides their spicy wings, they offered Cajun. I must say I like the Cajun better. Tried their pizza, but it was on the doughy side. I'm also a sucker for their Cinnabons. Expanding on their food offerings, they also have Wendy's as well. One thing I didn't manage to find was a parking area for RVs. I did see trucks parking further back but was unsure where the travel trailers like myself fit in. I did manage to temporarily park at their small lot on the corner, but there must be a better area to do so. read more

How do you review a gas station? I stop at this Pilot Station often on my way to work. This Pilot is located about 50 feet off the Southbound I-5 in Orland, CA. The Station is well lit, clean, has clean bathrooms, and cheap gas. It has a Cinnabon Cinnamon Roll counter and a Wendy's fast food restaurant. I have never eaten either, but have bought bottled water on occasion or vitamin water. The staff is always super friendly. I like this location because I can get off the freeway, get gas, and be back on the road in about 5 minutes. Recently their gas prices have been the cheapest on I-5 between Redding and Sacramento or the Bay Area. read more

Good place if you're just getting diesel and leaving, but if you plan on staying the night in your truck don't go inside. There's a rude girl working at Cinnabon, who cares more about flirting with guys than doing her job. The women's bathroom is also gross, paper towels and toilet paper everywhere. The handicap stalls toilet has also been running since last night at around 8pm, it's 6:03am the next day. Now I was waiting in line for maybe 5 minutes so not that long, a man walked up behind me and patiently waited as well. He wasn't even standing there for 15 seconds before Cinnabon girl called him over and said " Hi sir, I'm open over here. How can I help you?" She helped him and he went on his way. I didn't say anything I did not suggest anything with my body language I let it go because i thought maybe she is just training or something. I waited for the cashier, and while I was waiting, the other cashier said to the Cinnabon girl "could you". Cinnabon girl cut her off and said I got it, or something like that. And she called me over saying "excuse me, can I help you?" So I told Cinnabon girl about the bathroom and she simply said "you flush it to make it stop" I said "I did, but it didn't work, I just wanted you guys to know it's been running-" but she had cut me off half way through my sentence and said " well that's how we get it to stop, but I'll take care of it. It is difficult to write an epic review of a travel center, especially during the COVID-19 Pandemic. Gas here is less expensive that other stations and that is important when you are filling the gas tank on a RV. The center is right off I-5 with easy access to the gas dispensers. Pay-at-the-pump works as expected and I quickly pumped 40 gallons of gas. We were going to buy something to eat there; but, everything was closed up except the travel mart. I love it here, I could stay forever! Just kidding, it's only a pit stop. However, this is hands down the best Pilot I've ever stumbled upon. What really cinched it for me was the selection. It has all of your standard convenience items, but there is also a hot food bar, and fresh whole food. If you're looking for something hearty like meatloaf and mashed potatoes then you're in luck! And if you prefer to keep it fresh and have a salad with hard boiled eggs and fruit, this this place will surprise you! This is the best Pilot that we have stopped at to date. The parking can be a little scarce, but there's plenty of space to get around unlike a lot of other Pilot's. The showers are spacious, the bathrooms are always clean, and the staff are friendly. The lot is clean too. The other great thing about this Pilot is it's proximity to coffee and food. There's a 76 across the highway that you can park at (not overnight i believe) that has room for trucks. Within walking distance there is a Dutch Bros, Starbucks, Burger King, and Walgreen nearby. We love stopping at the Pilot in particular because we can drive over and grab a coffee on our way out in the morning. Overall, I love this location and look forward to stopping here when we pass through the area. read more

This Pilot Travel Center is amazing and worth a stop if you've been on the road for hours and need to resupply (gas, food, peace of mind). This place has shorted me 4 times of change. It's been less than a dollar, and not to sound petty but seriously. I know we are having a "change shortage" but get your s*it together y'all. Last time you shorted my wife .99 cents and she didn't want to be difficult. I would have asked for a dollar personally but she is a gentle soul. I understand they are busy. I understand there is no one to work the open jobs, but when I can't get a receipt from the pump because no one loaded the paper I want to go somewhere else for fuel. it's a huge pet peeve for me that they ask do you want a receipt? Then can't print one. Also if you put your pumps out in the back 40 maybe they should have a lot attendant on the island. Also why has nobody invented a pump with an indicator light when it's out of paper? The rest of the place isn't bad. It's fairly clean, and always busy. I just wish they would reload the paper more regularly. I think they just ignore it personally because I never see anyone do it and I'm there quite often. I see the guy dumping the garbage and cleaning up spills but never have I seen someone loading paper in any of the 16 pumps! read more

This is the greatest Pit Stop on I-5 here in Orland; They've got superb Customer Service that greets you as you walk in to the Plaza and their Wendy's is open 24 hrs a day(In case you get the on the road need for Munchies). Their Fuel that they provide is a great grade; Not the watered down stuff like some other Gas Stations. Nina and I stopped here for gas on the way home from Ashland yesterday. I had intended to stop at the Valero in Corning as we got back on the freeway but missed it as it came up sooner than I had expected. No matter, I had plenty, I just wanted to fill up so there would be no question of going on 505 too low on gas. When I saw the sign for the Pilot Travel Center in Orland, I got off the freeway and drove in. Regular was $2.25. Saved 20¢ a gallon over Valero. The station is huge, well laid out and obviously pretty new. There are fast food restaurants in the complex. As I was gassing up I heard an announcement of a shower being available for a customer who had reserved it. I paid at the pump rather than going inside. It was a very convenient stop, more convenient than our sometime stop in Redding and certainly cheaper than anything I saw in Corning. read more
