It was that time again needing to get my annual exam and buy a new set of contacts, and was referred to Penn Eye Care by a good friend of mine. It was easy to make the appointment on their website and was treated with first-class care & service by Danielle during the exams and by Dr. Phan for the follow up and consultation. Superb service and above all, the team treated me with respect and kindness from start to finish. Yours and your family's vision is important and you deserve to get this level of service and care like I did - so do yourself a favor and make an appointment to come see this team, you'll be so glad and thankful you did. Tell them David sent you. read more

Noe was very helpful, patient, and very nice and the eye doctor was very professional informed me a lot about what I can do and what o need to do to better my vision can wait for my new glasses!!! read more

The space if clean and neat. The staff were friendly and informative. They also did a great job of breaking down what was covered by my insurance. I didn't have to wait too long for my appt. I'd definitely recommend. read more

The front desk woman was friendly and did the initial eye tests. I was there for a general exam and a prescription for Bimatoprost. Dr. Penn was a disappointment from his reviews. He wasn't that friendly, just all business. I told him I needed a prescription for Bimatoprost, which is what Latisse is but cheaper, for eyelash growth (off label, since it is normally used for Glaucoma). I even brought previous prescriptons I had gotten. When the exam finished he walked me out and told me to sit at a desk in the eyewear area. I said "Wait, what about my prescription?" He said (while walking away) come back tomorrow, that doctor will do it. The charge for the exam was ninety dollars and the front desk told me to come back at 3:15 the next day. My husband had an appt then so I came with him, assuming there was a good reason for seeing another doctor for a prescription. The doctor was Dr. Phan who looked SO young, but very nice and thorough with my husband (I was in the room). He asked alot of questions of my use of Bimatoprost, which I've been getting and using for eyelash and eyebrow growth for at least 18 yrs! My regular Opthamalogist had moved to downtown Houston and Penn was much closer to home. Anyway, the woman (who never introduced herself to my knowledge) came back and did ANOTHER pressure test and something else, which I had the day before. I jokingly said "Is this so you can charge me another visit?" She didn't answer. Dr. Phan finally agreed to do the prescription and they told me to wait in front again. The girl who checks you out was told to charge me one hundred dollars for the visit, for which I complained that Dr. Penn COULD HAVE written the prescription the day before! Then the woman in front told the check out girl to charge the same $90 (big favor!). I don't plan to return after being charged twice and have to come back and be charged TWICE just to get a prescription! Also, my husband had a glasses prescription change so we looked at their prices of frames. WOW! Almost $300 price tag for there "cheaper frames" (with a special 40% off!) NO THANKS! I basically was charged $90 for a prescription plus the time to return again! What a SCAM! They tricked me when they could have been up front that they were going to charge another visit IF I wanted the prescription and give me the opportunity to refuse! read more

Staff is excellent and Dr Penn is thorough, communicates well and all give fabulous service!!

SUPER impressed. Dr. Penn and his entire staff are skilled, kind and welcoming. They took all my anxieties away about my eyes, and it was a really good visit. Dr. Penn took time to answer ALL of my many questions and Noe took time to help me find a pair of glasses that looked good on me. The whole staff welcomed us and even weighed in on the glasses. My husband saw the other Doctor there and we both felt they took very good care of us. We highly recommend this place. read more

Reconsider your eye care provider! I went to Penn Eye care to get my yearly prescription and purchase a new pair of Maui Jim sunglasses and left looking forward to my new purchase only to receive a call two days later that I needed to pay an additional $200 to complete my purchase... I paid $380 for the glasses which cost $299 online and my insurance paid an additional $200 for the frames and lenses. I was given a paid in full receipt and now they would like an additional $200? They claim an associate who has worked for them for 12 years accidentally made the mistake and forgot to add the additional fee... The office manager was rude and had no intention to resolve the issue. Do yourself a favor and go to a Eye care who values their customers and wants to earn your future business. Ridiculous, read more

Dr. Penn and his entire staff are professional, skilled, and pleasant. Together they make, what is sometimes thought of as an unpleasant requirement, a peasant experience. I look forward to seeing everyone in his office. I have gone to him for over two decades and wouldn't dream of looking anywhere else for vision care. read more

Wow! What a crew! Everyone there was sooo nice and inviting while I was over here shaking in my boots. I don't do well with appointments I get really nervous, but they walked me through the process effortlessly. I will definitely recommend having your eyes checked here. They are keeping it clean and safe throughout all this maddness in the world! Thank you Penn Eye Care! read more

I've been going to Dr. Penn for over 20 YEARS! I went to another doctor a couple of times, but came back to Dr. Penn and never left again. He is friendly, knowledgeable and he and his staff are very professional. Plus, the office is always clean and neat! read more

I've been seeing him for 5 years or so. Never had a bad experience with him or his staff. They are so helpful and kind! He is never in a rush to get me out of his chair to get to the next patient! read more

Dr Penn is very personable and will take the time you require to answer your questions. I won't see another eye doctor until he retires which I hope is a long time from now. However, his staff are even better. They are always extremely friendly and make you feel like part of their family. I've spent nearly an hour trying to decide on a pair of glasses and they never seemed perturbed or tried to rush me. They will also tell you if you look like an idiot with a particular pair (but in a nice way.) read more

The whole staff are amazing and professional. I always feel at ease at my appointment. Dr. Penn is truthful and kind. Love Penn Eye Care!

I love Penn Eye Care! Friendly, knowledgeable people! The best experience ever at an eye doctor!

I just went for my first time today and this place is great. They're super efficient and mindful of your needs plus the office is super clean and very professional. The Doctor listens to what you have to say and helps find something that works for you. I have tough eyes to find contacts for and on a suggestion from a friend wanted to try a specific brand and that's what they gave me! It's just nice being heard and appreciated as a patient. read more

I first went to Penn Eye Care last year when I took my elderly mother for an eye exam and new pair of glasses. Dr. Penn was very thorough and nice, and the staff was very pleasant and friendly. So when it was my turn for an eye exam I made my appointment with Penn Eye Care. They took good care of me and I would highly recommend them. read more

I have been going here for years and love it. Everyone is always so kind and professional. The only reason I can't give 5 stars is because of glasses selection. I have had same pair of frames for years simply because they don't really have small frames for narrow faces, so I just get new lenses put in them. Thus year I will have my exam done here and get my contacts but will go elsewhere for glasses. I love the professionalism here and very accommodating. Last year I had an unexpected appt. Pop up at MD Anderson 30 minutes after my appointment time and the office fit me in early so I could make it to MD Anderson on time read more

We've going to Dr. Penn for years! He's the only one that have done my wife lens prescriptions that are on the money all the time! Him and his staff are pleasure to deal with, wouldn't change them for nothing! read more

I've been going to this eye Dr for years! By far the best IMO, great staff, super clean office, they get you in and out. I moved 12 hours away and plan my visits when we come home. I don't see myself ever changing. Can't say enough good things about Dr.Penn and his staff. read more

Marissa was soo friendly and made me feel comfortable. She made the experience fun. Dr Penn was very knowledgeable and gave me some good advice. I was able to choose my glasses and out the door within 1 hour. read more

Can not believe the way a friend of mine was treated today by this Doctor while breastfeeding her newborn son - completely covered and in a private exam room I might add! He told her to get her stuff and finish in the waiting room and then refused to see her afterwards. What way is this to treat a customer??? I would avoid this place if your looking for a kind, understanding, family friendly Doctor. read more

I was referred to Penn Eye Care by my mother as I just moved to Houston a year ago. I went last year when I arrived and just went again this year. Everyone is very friendly, outgoing, professional and just a pleasure. Service is quick and Dr. Penn is just a true gem. Not many doctors are as friendly as him (he really makes you feel happy and comfortable). Overall everyone is friendly, prices are great and service is quick. I would definitely recommend this place and of course will be returning. read more

The office is nice and appears to be clean, the doctor is so down to earth, the office staff is pretty nice too. Easy to make appt with ny insurance and the actual appt was quick with little wait time. Only issue I had was my lenses took quite some time to come when they told me it would be within a day or 2. I had to keep calling to see if they were in yet. The ine lasy who always answered the phone (short blond hair) sound as if I was a pest each time I called. She told me they would call when they got them. The day they came in they didn't call me, I called again of course. Wouldn't had known they were in if I hadn't called read more

We were referred to Dr. Penn by our Peditrician. He works with adults and kids and is fantastic with both! The staff is friendly and attentive, and Dr. Penn has a lively personality, but finds a balance to stay focused on the problem at hand. Great experience and will definitely be sending my whole family there in the future! read more

I have used Dr. Penn for years! The staff is friendly and helpful, although I had an issue with one employee several years ago concerning insurance. (I have not seen that employee lately, so I presume she's moved on.) My insurance doesn't cover cost of frames or lenses, so I go elsewhere to fill the prescription because of cost. To his credit, I feel Dr. Penn gives me the same courtesy and consideration as he does patients who purchase from his office. read more
