What changed? * As noted last time, this is definitely Northern style barbecue here. I had said before it's not very BBQ inside, but I'll reframe that. You still absolutely get friendly service and not a very long wait. * I said before the meats are clearly prepared previously and just warmed to the order. I don't think I'll say that again. The meats were perfectly done, moist throughout, perfectly seasoned and smoky on the outside. * When I had gotten the two-meat plate, the brisket fell apart on my fork. The pulled pork was the opposite of what I expected - in fact, I'm wondering if they gave me pork or chicken now that I think about it... but it was good. Didn't occur to me at the time, but that might explain some of the taste and appearance. * This time, I got the ribs. A half rack of ribs filled me up, and YUM. Some ribs fell off the bone a little more than others, but oh boy was that perfectly good. My parents loved their chicken and brisket. * I think they read my review about how much meat you get for what you pay. It's not cheap here, but we all felt that we got a good amount of meat, mac 'n' cheese, or whatever else we ordered. It's great when a place listens! * Last time they upcharged me a dollar to swap cole slaw for cornbread. This time they gave me chipotle BBQ instead of regular BBQ without any charge at all. So again, maybe they read and responded! Still loving the flavors, textures, sauces, cornbread, and mac. This is a winner and earned the fifth star - we're all coming back!

With the food standing on its own, maybe between 3 and 4 stars. From what we tried, would rank the pulled pork first, then the burnt ends, and then the brisket. The pulled pork was smoky and had great flavor and not many fatty pieces. The burnt ends had a lot of flavor (maybe a little too slathered in sauce), but too much fat in the pieces we were given. The brisket too dried out for my taste - have had much better and would definitely not order it again. The restaurant looks great inside - great paintings on the walls, signage, etc. Puts you in a BBQ mindset! My biggest issue was that the staff made us feel a bit uncomfortable there. It's weird, because they were SO friendly to their regulars. But so friendly to the point that when they were so emotionless and dismissive to us, that we felt like we did something wrong and weren't welcome there. Unfortunately with the first experience we had, hard to become a regular to get the better treatment!

We ordered two meals to be picked up at Pete's Meat at 1-55pm but due to work was unable to pick it…read moreup until 2:50pm. I requested for fresh fries because we picked up late, and the bald guy always cutting up meat there, seems to be operating under some form of substance as he let out a tirade on me about he would be out of business if he's giving out fresh fries. I requested that he takes the fries out, he said no but I can take it out and he would trash it for me, I opted to do that and immediately ediately I took the fries out on tge counter on laminated menu so that it van be thrown out, the guy snatched the food out of my hand and yelled at me that he's walking me out and I told him not to touch me as he was about to drag me out as he held on to my order. After I refused,to follow him out, he walked outside and threw my food out on as shown in the picture and then refused to refund my money because it was paid from online order. I called the cops and typical of Wayne Police Officer to always favored the white race, the police immediately started to antagonize me and told me it's civil. I asked him if it would be a civil if I take the food out without paying and Officer said that would be considered shoplifting, shouldn't the reversal of it be treated exactly as that would be. I had to stand my ground for the Officer not to put his hands on me as he was also trying to forcefully remove from the premise when my meal was thrown out by this person that insisted on not refunding my money back and cops was also about to punish the black girl fir having the audacity to call for help, when cops are supposed serve and protect. Please abstain from Pete's meat if you can, this is not an experience anyone should have to go through. That bald guy, I don't know if he's the owner but there's been no time I'm there that he doesn't seem like he's operating under the influence of something. I've been there before when he was raving about the importance of weed to another employee, it seems that weed is having negative effect on him, as no business-minded person would treat their customer like that over an order of fries. He could have offered to put it back in the oil to get it hot again in lieu of fresh fries and that would have been greatly appreciated but not this terrible experience. PLEAE BEWARE!!!

Yesterday was the first time the stars aligned. Walking in was a terrific feeling. The vibe of regulars in there jiving with the staff made me feel like I was home even though it was my maiden voyage. The meat and salad cases were two of the most impressive I have ever seen. I ordered a pastrami and Swiss on a roll with 1,000 Island, mustard and onion. I was drooling imaging the mountain I was promised by those in the know. The sandwich was delicious. But as you'll see in the photo it was actually kind-of-small. Maybe I didn't order correctly. The coleslaw and deli pickle were perhaps the best example of each I have ever had.
