Huge thanks to Diandra L for introducing me to this fabulous gym!…read more In town for a family wedding, I kicked off my Saturday morning with a P.I.T. Conditioning class with Sara. My cousin was my partner in class and there was no lack of motivation as we made our way through 20 stations and got a full body workout including strength and cardio. Sara and Nico were both super welcoming and this gym has an awesome community feel to it where everyone feels welcome. If I lived in the area, I'd definitely be a regular here. Instead, I'll keep it in mind for future visits!

I've been on class pass recently to discover new gyms and routines that get me excited to work out…read moreand let me tell you Legacy is becoming one of my favorites! I have done this workout at their Wynwood studio and also the Little River location so I knew I was in for a challenging but fun workout. The workout format is PIT (Partner interval training) so you rotate around the room with a partner for 20 stations for 2 minutes each. Depending on the exercise you and your partner alternate for reps or time or work together. If you're someone who has anxiety about trying a new gym and having to pair up with someone you don't know - do not worry about this here! The trainer and also everyone in the class are welcoming and friendly so it's a-ok if you are walking in alone. I love the idea of pairing up with someone who's super into the class because it pushes me to lift heavier, try harder and make them proud. I have gone to Nico's 7:10 am class for the last two weeks and then another Saturday class with Andre. They break up the classes into strength, conditioning and performance days to focus on different styles of training, but I have grown to love the set up of this workout. The studio does have some parking spots in front, but there is also plenty of metered parking nearby as well as a garage. Pro-tip - if you go to a class before 9 am, the meters are free. You'll also want to be sure to bring a towel to this workout as the studio does require it. It's def needed because you work up a sweat and don't want to leave your equipment sweaty for your partner or other class participants. The energy and music during the classes with fuel you to an epic calorie burn, that is gaurenteed!

I decided to give burn a second chance, considering my gym is still closed due to covid…read more In December 2020 a friend reached out to me stating they had a promo 'bring a friend for free'. So i tried it & decided to give it another shot. My experience was the same as 2018, and i was happy to see that there were very few people in classes (usually less than 7). The trainers are all different, not the same quality as before, still just rush thru the WODs. The gym advertised 1 month for $69, so in January i signed up for it. The gym heavily advertises to sign up for focus meetings, which is fitness assessment. I signed up for it, and received a confirmation email, upon arrival first i was told i was not in the system, later i was told they had double booked, and long story short i was not able to do it. My schedule is tight due to work, it was really tough to be there on time, and the fact that my appointment was not respected was unfortunate. The staff doesn't seem organized, or customer serviced focused. I complained on site, all i got was attitude and 'sas', despite the fact it was their bad.. anyway.. Upon arrival, you check in via iPad, my first two weeks of January, were fine (January I paid for the $69 special). Suddenly, upon checking in, the screen started saying 'unpaid see front desk', along those lines. I did and I requested that to be corrected, as I did pay.. and once again, attitude, sas and rudeness stating 'i had done two trials, i was not supposed to, but whatever, they would still allow me to attend'. I was invited in December by a friend, and I did pay the full month on January. I didn't really get any fine print with details.. so my last two weeks were annoying & uncomfortable as every time i checked in i had to basically show my payment receipt to the front desk (unnecessary), as they never corrected the check in process... considering my gym (TruFusion) is still closed, I would have signed up for a few months at burn paying regular price, i had those intentions... i was surprised at how the customer service dropped.. when the gym was managed by Jennifer the staff was always very nice and welcoming.. and the trainers, (with the exception of Ben, and patrick) don't seem that focused on helping or correcting posture.. i wonder why one of the girls teaches & walks around barefoot? Kinda gross. Tip: do not wear light colored pants, if you do floor work, your pants will get very dirty. I wore some peach colored pants and were very dirty afterwards..

That flexible schedule was important here, because I personally would not have been able to motivate myself to get there in the morning, just way too many burpees for me to start the day! While bootcamps aren't my favorite style workout I did appreciate that the classes were always different and there were some really fun exercises on occasion - my favorite being the pull ups we did with elastic bands. I like that they are trying to foster a sense of community with evening activities for their members and different theme days at the gym and Mark definitely grew on me. At the end of the day though I decided not to sign up after the trial, my main reason being their lowest commitment was for 6 months and it was for a steep price tag compared to other gyms in the area. They offer 'free' childcare so I imagine if you are able to take advantage of that then it is a great deal. I went to the gym here 2-4 times a week during my month trial as well as supplementing with other types of workout. I don't think I noticed any huge difference from coming here. (I normally work out that much a month, just not as part of a 'bootcamp'). Another thing that bothered me a bit is I felt like a lot of times each station of exercises was a bit too long, so that you were bound to give up and take a break before the round ended. I would have preferred to know how many reps I need to do or see a clock countdown. Otherwise 2 minutes of plank jumps can feel like an hour.

I've tried other gyms/classes such as barre but I didn't enjoy it. I needed something with more movement. The staff is really helpful and nice. Don't be scared to try this gym out. Most importantly, I love that it's an all women's gym. I also really like that they offer classes at night since I get out of work at 6pm. They give you the option of buying their heart rate monitor to keep track of your heart rate during your workouts but I keep track of it with my Fitbit. Give it a shot!

I've been going to this gym for several years now. I get a good workout most of the time, but…read moresometimes the routines can be a little disappointing. Their class times are less convenient than they used to be. They have one class starting at 6:45 and the next one isn't until 8:30. The latter being too early for me, but 8:30 ends pretty late in the morning (and is after free parking ends on the street). There's definitely some instructors I like more than others. I stopped going regularly over a year ago, when my shoulder was bothering me and I found that some classes I would have to modify a whole zone and it was a struggle to get the instructors to suggest other exercises. Because they continue to play their music very loudly, I've taken to wearing earplugs to protect my ears, but then it's hard for me to hear the instructors. Doing a lot of the exercises on the floor hurts my tailbone and forearms (I wish they had yoga mats) and I miss the rowers (and towels!) they used to have. At least one of their bikes is slightly broken and their ellipticals have been broken at times too. They use monitors to show you what routine to do, but I would say 80% of the time something is cut off like the # of reps. Meanwhile other TVS will have nothing on them. I wish they would invest more effort in making it easy to see what exercises you are doing, especially when they have TVs they aren't using. Almost no one seems to use their heart rate monitors anymore. I stopped bringing mine ages ago, because 50% of the time it wouldn't connect to the screen and I rather use my watch, and who wants to be the one or two people up on the screen? What I find most frustrating and what prompted me to update my rating, is they constantly text me with offers that they will not honor. If they say they are for new members, I've just ignored them, even though it would be great if they didn't text me offers that aren't for me at all. Recently they texted me offering a free week to try their new workout version, with no mention of it being for new members only. Throughout the years, I've noticed changes such as added or removed equipment, but never noticed something drastically new, so I wasn't sure if it had been rolled out already or not. As someone who already works out there occasionally, but hadn't been a member in over a year, I thought maybe they were encouraging me to try to come more frequently like I used to, so I asked if there were any catches and they said no, and I accepted the offering, cancelling another class for next week to go to this one instead. The next day they told me they were revoking the free week. When I expressed my frustration that were not honoring the offer, they called me and aggressively made up a bunch of excuses such as that I texted back too late at night for them to know if I qualified (they texted me after closing time themselves and I responded that same hour) and that their system cannot tell if I come on classpass or not, but not taking ownership of that. Ugh. While I'll continue to partake in their workouts while they are on classpass because as I said I mostly get a good workout, this shady communication was another reminder of why I didn't want to be a full time member. There's been times I was charged a no show fee for a class I didn't sign up for (and therefore didn't attend). When I was a member, I was constantly stressed about if I would be able to use all my classes and I stopped looking forward to my workouts. When I did try to cancel or pause my membership, I always felt harassed about it, having to provide a reason, which is annoying. It has to be done 15 days in advance, which if you are new member, it's especially hard to know after two weeks if you want to keep going or not and I've even had them cancel my membership effective immediately even though I had classes left over! Other times they've been more accommodating, and extended my membership when their was a death in the family and I didn't get to use most of my classes. I wish they were more consistent and reliable with their practices and workouts. So while I recommend trying this gym, I do not recommend becoming a member.

Kickboxing and boxing have always been something on my bucket list. I never got around to it for…read moreseveral reasons, time, school, work, etc. but after having gone through something quite harrowing and challenging , I though it was the perfect time to jump on the boxing bandwagon. Times are changing and people are becoming more unhinged and you have to be your own advocate as nobody else will. That being said... On my hunt for self-defense classes in Miami, I had come across a few options but weren't really what I was looking for. This Tapout location has been by my house for a few years now and I never thought to try it out until recently. I realized how crucial it is for women to be able to learn how to stand their ground and defend themselves especially if they encounter a threatening situation. Now, the classes aren't necessarily geared towards that but you will learn how to jab, cross, hook, and roundhouse which is sufficient for me. That being said, I took a free class to see if I would like it and I did! It was a Tapout Fusion class. They have different types of classes each with a different dynamic. So far I have taken Tapout Sweat, Tapout Fusion, Power Pilates, and Tapout Strong. Each class is set up differently. You don't spar with anyone. It's you against you and a large punching bag as well as pads set up along a wall. They also have other workout items like kettlebells, dumbbells, TRX bands, and Airdyne bikes. I have yet to try the bikes out but they look pretty cool. I have taken classes with two instructors, Kellie and Calvin and they are amazing. They don't make you feel out of place or intimidated in any way. They support you, guide you, and coach you through each set or movement. Also, they really know their stuff. I particularly enjoy Kellie's class because it's empowering to try a sport that's very male dominated...(yes women box too and they do UFC fighting and WWE)but it's not often you come across a female fighter. The only one I know or have heard of is Ronda Rousey so being taught and led by a female teacher knowledgeable in those techniques makes me feel like it's possible for me to be strong and hit just as hard as a man would. It's like the best kind of motivation. I'm all about women empowerment and am proud that I've taken steps to make myself and my body stronger. The gym itself is very clean. There is ample space to workout. They also sanitize everything after. You can rent boxing gloves if you need to though I recommend bringing your own. There are also lockers in the back as well as changing rooms. They are pretty diligent about getting you to come back after that first free class which is understandable. I worked at a gym and did sales myself briefly so the membership component and acquiring members is at the forefront and a goal of any operation that's built off of memberships. I was contacted several times via phone but I was a good lead lol because I genuinely planned on signing up. It was just a matter of time, work, and scheduling. I didn't want to sign up for something I would not have time for. What attracted me to signing up was the cost, the location, and my urge to learn self-defense and keep the momentum going that I acquired while taking classes at the other facility I went to for a bit. They have classes all day and each class is set up differently so it's not repetitive or boring. It's a new workout regimen every time so you can tell they plan out the classes well. Most Importantly, they make you feel welcomed. There are people of all shapes and sizes and levels. Me being a beginner I didn't know what to expect though after having an introduction to boxing at FDT, I kind of had an idea of what I was in for. There is something so satisfying about hitting a punching bag. I'm not a violent or aggressive person, but it just feels so empowering and is a big confidence booster and stress reliever. I highly encourage you to try it out for yourself. And it's nice they mix up the workouts with strength training and interval training...that it's not all about boxing. I'm still trying to get comfortable on the TRX bands because they can be tricky but I know they will benefit me in the long run. The trainers come up with cool, innovative ways to use them and they will guide you on how to use them effectively. All in all, signing up and working out at Tapout was a good move for me. I have met some really nice people, not their for an ego boost but actually just workout for the sake to workout out and better themselves and I've gotten stronger along the way so thank you Tapout. I'm glad I finally decided to stop by:)
