I've been wanting to try a class at Pure Barre for a while now, and it was worth the wait. Even though I'm not the most flexible person, I was still able to follow along and get a solid workout. The class takes you through a variety of pulses, stretches and movements that target different parts of your body. Personally, I was looking for a mix of high impact cardio + stretching, so it wasn't exactly what I expected, but I was pleasantly surprised by how effective it was. I haven't done barre in years, so I booked on ClassPass. The instructor was really sweet and welcoming. I got the hang of it easily because she explained and demonstrated well. The workout itself was moderately challenging, but I'm usually looking for something a little harder. I might return when I want a workout that is challenging without being too challenging if that makes sense. I don't totally love that it's a carpeted square room. I guess I'm spoiled because the place I usually work out has amazing views. Just note that you need to find street parking and it can be a bit hard. read more

Always looking for new places to work out, I decided to try out Pure Barre. I popped in on a Monday I had off. I did their 8:15 AM Pure Barre Classic class. This class is 50 minutes long. That doesn't seem like much in the long scheme of things, but believe me, it's all that you need. The class will make you break out a sweat! From what I saw, they also offer Pure Empower and Pure Reform. The former is intense at 45 minutes, the latter is more of a restorative Barre at 50 minutes. Just something to keep in mind, depending on what you're seeking. Anyway, I went in as I'm a member of ClassPass and Pure Barre is on there. Went by early, paid metered parking, filled out some waivers, spoke to the instructor, did the whole shebang. Staff at the front desk and my instructor, Sydney, were quite pleasant, especially considering that I'm not a morning person whatsoever. Their friendliness definitely brightened up my morning. As far as the facilities go, parking in this area is metered, so show up early and get a spot. I was lucky to grab one directly in front of the studio. Also, the studio itself is insanely clean. It seemed everything was sparkling. No idea if this is with the outbreak of coronavirus or in general, but this is definitely a place where you can work out in peace. I think the only legitimate gripe I have with this place is that I wish that the class had the instructor working out. It seemed as if she just showed poses and went around to correct our forms. I have an issue with this if only because sometimes it's easier to correct a form by actually seeing it done correctly. Then again, she had warned me about this, so eh, it is what it is. read more

I thought I was the only one who has been treated poorly but it seems like their staff needs to be trained better. I couldn't take the class because it was overbooked. Not only that they don't follow any covid safety measures absolutely don't care. I told the front desk staff this is very disappointing. Then she offered me to book another class in the future. So I called a few days later to reschedule the class. Taylor who was very unfriendly asked me what was the reason for the call so I explained it to her. Then, she was like you were rude to the front desk staff last Saturday with her attitude. I then, asked her Do not yell or raise her voice. I refuse her being rude to me. She is extremely rude and very unprofessional. They didn't even refund the point that I purchase the class. I am very surprised with their customer service. I have been regularly attending classes at Pure Barre Coral Gables for over 6 months (about 4 classes per week), and have loved every minute of it. Tomorrow is my 100th class! I am 40 years old and have re-gained a tremendous amount of strength and confidence thru these classes - something I've been unable to consistently achieve thru any other local workout classes or gyms. The class instructors are all excellent and pay close attention to detail, offering immediate corrections to my form as needed, and praise when I've mastered a certain technique. More than anything, I truly feel like they're invested in my achievements. Every single instructor has provided a valuable experience for me, more than worthy of the price for the membership. Lastly, every class starts and ends exactly on time which is hard to find in this area, and works well for my schedule. Absolutely LOVE this place. While I definitely like to move and exercise, I'm not a heavy weightlifting kind of person. I like that Pure Barre tones your body and gets you in shape while being low impact. Barre is inspired by ballet so the kind of muscle you get from this exercise is the long, elegant kind of muscle. It helps shaping your butt and legs without being heavy on the knee. The study itself is very clean. All the instructors are very friendly. It's a very classy and zen type of atmosphere. They sell cute barre merchandise as well. There are three type of classes offered here: classic barre, pure empower (very cardio heavy) and pure reform. The latter has elements of Pilates and is my favorite. All exercises have very minimal movement but they tone the muscle very well. I just wish they had more classes offered at different times. read more

Such a great workout! I was a bit skeptical at first mainly since a lot of the movements were foreign to me and I was not sure what I was suppose to be "tucking" ! buy wow the next day I was sore in places I didn't even realize I had worked on. I really like the concept of the workouts and it is very low impact but you do sweat! I am particularly impressed with the great service, I was worried that the environment would be somewhat snobby but the staff is very friendly and attentive. The teachers made sure I was comfortable with the movements and answered all my questions, and I also received follow up calls about my experience. So far I am really happy! It has only been my second class but I think I will definitely stick with it. read more

Miami is slowly opening after the virus outbreak and I wanted to give a shout out to my studio in Coral Gables. Miami Coral Gables went above and beyond with the safety rules. The groups are smaller to secure social distancing, the equipment is minimum, the corrections are verbal. It feels safe to attend the studio and yet so more effective and joyful than at home. Today was my first time.. my sister had been raving about it so even though it didn't seem up my alley, I tried it out. Wow.. it was definitely harder than I expected. Not only was it a great workout but the exercises were unique to other classes I've done. Jessica was our instructor this morning, and she was great. Since it was my first time, she asked me before class of any injuries and showed me alternate ways to do exercises in ways that wouldn't hurt them. Additionally, she made sure to keep coming around to check that I was doing things correctly and fix me when I wasn't, which is especially important for a beginner in a class like this one. I'm already sore but I know I'll be feeling it even more tomorrow.. I'll definitely be back! read more

Finally took my first barre class at Pure Barre this morning and while I felt like I got a pretty good workout, in comparison to other barre classes I have taken, this one wasn't great. Why? The classes are 50 minutes long and work all the major body parts. Prices are similar to what everyone else is charging and the concept is pretty much the same. What was lacking was guidance on using proper technique. Had I been a total barre rookie, I wouldn't have known what to focus on half of the time. I still had a hard time keeping up at times. The thing with barre workouts is, you are using such small range of motion that proper technique and form are absolute key. The studio needs to add 10 minutes to their classes, include more stretching and explanations in between exercises. read more

I am not a fan of this place. Don't get me wrong, I understand why people dig it but as someone who takes classes on a regular, I felt quite frustrated at the lack of guidance. Having never taken Barre classes before, I felt really lost throughout much of the classes and the instructors, as nice and enthusiastic and friendly as they are, provide minimal information and feedback plus they aren't doing the exercises themselves with you so you can't observe the proper technique. I also feel like they don't really properly 'warm you up' which I realize is probably part of their philosophy but I personally feel the need to get going before going balls to the wall with my workout. This place is the kind of spot you just need to try on your own and see if it suits you. It didn't suit me, but they are nice and the studio is well equipped and maintained. Give it a shot, it could be your cup of tea even if it wasn't mine. read more

Holy cow! What a workout! I always think that if there were spectators watching, they'd think we couldn't possibly be getting any work in. Most of the movements are tiny and make us look like we're just standing in place! But boy do they hurt. The day after my last class, I woke up sore in places I didn't know could be sore. I've been a few times and I still feel a little lost since most of the instructions are a bit vague. The instructor does walk around and correct technique but it would be more helpful if the instructions were more detailed. All in all it's a great workout! read more

While the workout is absolutely awesome, I'm not sure how professional the staff are. I have had two instances now where I have called the studio to ask questions, the girl who answers does not know the answer, takes down my information to have the manager/owner call me back. Guess what? Two weeks later I received a call and voicemail. My question was regarding the class that was two days away. The second time around, I double checked with the girl a few times, after she hadn't asked for my number - if the owner/manager would for sure call me back, and she guaranteed it by the end of the day. Again...no call back. I'm still waiting on that call. Their voicemail assures you that someone will get back to you within 24 hours and they also supply their email address. I emailed them also, no reply. I find this unprofessional and don't appreciate it, seeing I'm a paying customer. Since there are many other barre classes in Miami, I will take my business elsewhere. It's unfortunate as it's in an excellent location and a great workout; but I don't appreciate customer service like that. read more

I am a person who likes to work out, but I wouldn't consider myself someone who commits to a regular workout schedule or is a "fitness buff." After taking a class at Pure Barre, I decided to sign up for the new member special ($99 for the month) and I haven't looked back since. I now go at least 3-4 times a week, consistently, which has never happened before outside of me swimming in high school. The workout is great and targets every muscle area in your body. It never gets easier (in the best way) and will leave you with the good kind of sore when you first start out. I could see my body changing after about ten classes. I'm OBSESSED with this Pure Barre location and I'm so sad I'll be moving out of Miami. Everyone that works here is THE BEST and goes out of their way to get to know you. I recently missed a week and when I came back everyone I knew at this location asked me how I was doing and where I had been. Things like this are part of the reason why I keep returning! read more

I first came to Pure Barre of Coral Gables back in August of 2015. Rebecca is a great instructor. Before barre class began she gave me some pointers I should know and walked me through the terms, etc. Suggested ideal positions. This all made a difference. "Pulse" was new to me yet I felt it. Rebecca is one of the reasons I would return. Fun class! I had another instructor but it wasn't as awesome, probably because for that class I had come straight from another workout and my muscles needed a break. Barre class is fun with loud music. It consists of workouts targeting different areas like arms, thighs, abs, & legs. I loved the ballet feel, brought back memories when I saw the barre by the mirrors. Reminded me of when I used to dance Ballet. These were minor movements that burn and shake. In the barre area the flooring is carpeted and there's a pure barre red mat for everyone, small red ball, bands, & hand weights. They're located on the street before Shops of Merrick Park. Finding street meter parking is quite an issue but there are garages too. I don't think they validate parking. Sometimes they have special packages. Attentive, we did a lot in those 55 minutes. Starts with a warm up like "the hundred" from Pilates & ends cooling down. read more

Pure Barre Miami has everything I've been looking for in a workout and more! This unique 55-minute workout is truly enjoyable and effective. Not to mention, I noticed changes in my body after the first week of class! They offer a number of classes which is great for our busy lives. The classes I attend are early on in the morning and small in terms of size which are both a big plus for me. I get a total body workout by applying isometric movements on arms, thighs, seat (glutes) and abs. My muscles get a good burn and my heart rate is up/down at different points during class. From the minute class starts, I break into a good sweat and it continues until cool down. The music selection played during class is fun to listen to and complements the area(s) we work on. When we cool down at the end, slow music is played and the instructor's voice becomes calm and serene (believe me, this helps a lot during cool down). The more you attend class, the better you will get and the instructors are wonderful about helping to adjust your form during class and addressing questions after class. If you are on the fence because of cost, I strongly recommend you give it a try. It is worth it if you want something out-of-the-box with immediate results. I am hopeful that in the future, there will be discounted packages available to Pure Barre "lifers" because I will be one of the first to take advantage of it :-). I'm addicted to the burn! Just started taking classes at this location, and they've all been great. The workouts kick my butt, but I don't leave the place looking like a sweaty monster. If you're not familiar with barre workouts, they're ballet-inspired exercises that focus on small isometric moves, so you develop long and lean muscles. It's HARD. Even though you're moving just an inch back and forth, it will get you shaking and trembling. And I love it. It's kinda like therapy for me. I get one hour to focus on my body, and it's actually quite meditative. The pace is pretty fast, and it takes some getting used to, but I think it needs to be fast in order to target every part of your body. The studio is clean and spacious, and the instructors are very friendly and energetic. I've never had an issue with parking. I would definitely encourage you to check it out! read more

The place is a perfect fit for what I have been looking for to really get me committed to my health. The instructors give attention to individuals but also continue to control the class at the same time. I'm still a beginner but feel that my progress is coming along. Actual classes are good but staff is NOT. Tried doing my first free week to see if I wanted to become a member and on my second class I was not allowed inside a class I preregistered for because I was 6 minutes late but my friend that came with me was allowed in. I tried calling to let them know we would be late to see if there was a strict policy on this but no one answered. We arrived at the time the actual class was starting and I told my friend to go inside and sign us in and to let them know I am parking. When I came inside the girl was going to let me in but then told me I had to wear socks and could buy their $18 socks. I then went to my car to get my own socks and when I came back she said it was too late for me to go in. This place has no parking lot so I had to find street parking which is what made me 6 minutes late. My friend and I drove 40 minutes to get to this class only for me to sit in their waiting room while my friend took the class (since we came in the same car). On top of that they wanted to charge me for being a "no show". Thankfully, the owner waived this fee and the front desk lady apologized that someone should've told me about the policy but what I really wanted was just to be able to attend the class and not waste almost 3 hours of my day in this ordeal. This class only had 5 people and I was only 6 minutes late. Bad customer service if you're trying to get people to become members. I had brought my friend because I liked the first class so much but due to this incident neither she nor I will attend any more classes at this place. Blame the receptionist. read more

I am truly thankful to have found this barre studio! I always had ups and downs in my fitness journey. When I found this studio, it changed my perspective on what I wanted for myself. Learning new techniques challenged me to do my best even if I was not good at them. The instructors are always giving words of encouragement to do our best and the instructors even go around the room to help fix our posture. Every time I take a class, it's never the same workout; which is great for the body. All of the workers in this studio are always there to answer any questions that someone might have. I have to say that maybe my expectations were too high but the bare minimum wasn't even met. I just moved to Miami and been doing barre for years and so I was very excited to find a studio near me. The team in charge of calls were super friendly and booked me for a trial class. They gave me instructions to arrive 15 minutes early for the introduction to the studio. I did and when I arrived no one was there to greet me. I sat there for about 10 minutes and no one showed up until the instructor did right before class which started late due to a delay from the previous class. Situations that happen and that's understandable. What really made me feel unpleasant was the overall mood of the space and the instructor. I had read a previous comment that said they don't do the workouts with you and I didn't think much of it until I realized that's actually very important. The whole "adjustment" excuse is bs because you can adjust me all you want if I don't have a point of reference the exercise will not be done properly. It's easy to get lost and confused. You also need motivation if you're right there doing it with me it will encourage more to follow and fix your form with the instructor. Another client and myself kept looking at each other and the other attendee to figure out what was happening. To say the least I barely busted a sweat and felt super annoyed at wasting my time there. Workouts are supposed to be fun and allow the time and space to release stress not cause it! Carpets for a studio is also a big mistake. The entire place smelled like mold. Very grimy and I'm sorry to say I felt dirty being there. There's so much that can be improved. I have visited many different studios and barre classes and this was such a bad experience overall. I was petrified whine I signed up for my first class. I am not built like a ballerina and was not sure how comfortable I would be surrounded by tall skinny girls. From the moment I walked in I felt so welcomed. The young lady at the front desk helped me sign in and told me to get comfy before the start of class. The instructor was so helpful, kind and took the time to make sure that you were in proper form. This workout is hardcore! I was sore for two days afterward, but it was awesome! The studio is immaculate and they ask you wipe your equipment after every class which I really appreciate. I can't wait to come back for another session! read more
