On our way up to Vancouver, as it was quite late, we decided to find a place in Bellingham for a light meal that opens late, and this restaurant checks all the boxes! We went around 10pm and it was not too busy - 1 other table was dining. You walk to the counter to place the order - there's no menu as they only serve beef or potato pelmeni, and we got to do the mix (half and half) for $9 (tax included). In this economy, it is getting harder to find places like this. Portions are good for a lighter meal for 1 person, so if you get it as a snack, sharing it with 2 people is sufficient. Don't forget the sour cream - it's not the American or Mexican sour cream that's strong to the senses. This is very creamy and like a yogurt so we guiltlessly devoured it while eating the dumplings! I hear reviews saying it's not authentic but it doesn't matter to me. As long as it tastes good I am happy.

Not going to lie we heard about this place a year earlier when we were in the area for a pub crawl and we missed out. This time around we were not going to make the same mistake. We did stop in after a pub crawl. The smells as you walk in the place were amazing. Pretty busy late at night, and from what I heard from everyone for good reason. The lady behind the counter took our order and was also the one doing the cooking. Took only 10 minutes or so. Upon receiving them we ate a little bit of each kind. They were both flavorful and delicious, but I prefer the one with curry more, though you can't go wrong either way. We did not finish them but put them in the fridge. Just note the next day they are just as good. We didn't heat them up, just cold. Pretty sure this will be a staple whenever we are in town. The hype is real!!

Highly recommend by my girlfriend, she said this was one of her favorite late night snacks. This shop only serves two items - beef and potato dumplings. I got the combination that came with both types of dumplings that are then topped with curry powder, cilantro, Siracha and served with side of sour cream and bread. I can see why this is the perfect drunk food - little nuggets of starch and flavor that you can easily shovel down after a night out.

    Sooooo good!

Pelmeni is the Russian word for dumplings (in case you were wondering, as I was). A review said they've changed the dumpling size, but not that I can tell looking at older photos. Anyway, even if accurate, they were a fine size for me. I shared an order of the potato dumplings as a snack, and they were super delicious. I especially liked the curry topping, as well as the cilantro, sour cream, and hot sauce. The rye bread was good, too. I enjoyed them with or without the hot sauce (sriracha-like), but didn't try the vinegar (sounds interesting). $9 for about a dozen and a half dumplings seems like a good value in today's economy. The person who took our order also made the dumplings. He did a great job at both! Had to have these again. The second time we did try the vinegar, along with all the other toppings. Loved them even more! Sooo good. If you enjoy dumplings, just go, it's worth it.

Incredible dumpling spot pretty close to the I5. Stopped in here after a long delay at the border and our usual stop was closed and it did NOT disappoint. Menu is very simple. Two options: beef or potato. Your dumplings come topped with curry powder and hot sauce and cilantro. Highly recommend grabbing some sour cream on the side as it balances everything so well. Dumplings are made to order, so you may be waiting a while on a busy day, but the wait is well worth it. We ordered one portion each and ended up ordering another for the road they were so delicious. Not a ton of seating inside (3 small tables) but they pack everything to go as well. Music isn't too loud so its easy to carry a conversation I have to hand it to my wife for the incredible find on this place. We will definitely be back. Next time we're nearby

Food was good, wish there were more choices. The potato dumplings were good, one of them looked like it had old wilted parsley on it though. sour cream with it was even better. Service was very friendly & I loved the decor and building itself was very beautiful.

Ridiculous! One of a kind place for sure. Super budget friendly and absolutely tasty food. Simple, only a couple of options on the entire menu... Eclectic layout and downtown Bellingham vibe for sure. thankful to have this place in our town.

Absolutely loved trying out Pel'meni! We ordered one order of the potato dumpling entrée and one order of the beef dumpling entrée. Both were delicious! This was such a unique dish that was both comforting and also very filling. One order of each was enough to two people! Highly recommend checking this place out.

Pel Meni is a classic. I ordered my usual, the meat dumplings. So simple and so good. I just love their lights and their decor! A short and sweet review, but Pel Meni is such a staple and a classic!

We ended up getting such a cute table tucked away in the back, away from everyone else. It honestly felt like we had our own little corner of the restaurant, which made the whole dinner feel extra cozy. Our waitress was also so sweet and friendly. She recommended some dishes for us, and she did such a great job because everything she suggested was so good! We ordered borscht, chicken skewers, potato and dill pierogies, lamb stew, and a Salo board. The borscht and chicken skewers were definitely our two favorites! The borscht was SO good and easily became our favorite dish of the night. The chicken skewers were also amazing and something we would absolutely order again. My husband really loved everything and said the food tasted like home, which made the meal even more special. My cousin and friend had never tried Ukrainian food before, so they were excited to try something new, and they ended up really loving it too! The restaurant itself is also so cute, with all the Ukrainian-inspired decor and cozy little details throughout the space. It definitely has such a cute vibe for dinner, and I'm really happy we got to experience it while we were in Gastown!

The server gave us excellent recommendations and built us a diverse and delicious set of dishes to enjoy. Our favorites included: 1. borscht with pork, eaten the Ukrainian way with some sourdough bread, and salted raw garlic 2. Sauerkraut which was a part of the pickled vegetable dish. It comes cold, which is how we like it, is a bit sweet, and doesn't have any of pungency of typical sauerkraut. 3. Duck and basil perogies. A little sweet, a little savory, and fully delicious.

There are a good variety of pork dishes but I ordered a steak. It was bacon wrapped and within the steak was oozing cheese. The steak was seasoned perfectly. It also came with a basket of fried potatoes and a side of cucumbers and tomatoes dipped slightly in vinegar and salt. The service was attentive and on point giving recommendations based on my taste pallette. The dining area was small, maybe enough for a total of 30 people dining max at one time. The ambiance was very quiet, enough to talk and converse without having to raise your voice. Lots of wall art depicting either famous people or places from Serbia. I noticed several Nikola Tesla pictures. A destination to totally visit and wisk you away to the food joys of Serbia.
