While the remodel does look nice. The employees are dumb and seemed to be under the influence. Completely forgot my order when I was one of 3 people in there. People kept coming in through the door and they kept making other peoples orders but had forgotten my own. It seemed the staff was high on drugs and unaware that they were working at the moment. We used to frequent Pekoe when it first opened and was very popular. Since the remodel, the quality of drinks has gone downhill. The inside ambiance and decor is plain and boring. I'm writing this review to report the 2 drinks I purchase for my 2 daughters on 09/13/2025 were spoiled! I bought them the Honey, dew you love me with boba. When my daughters started drinking their boba drinks, they said, "Mommy, my boba tastes sour! And why is the honey dew drink keep separating from the boba balls?!" I looked at their drinks and sipped one of them. I literally gagged! The boba pearls were spoiled rotten! How could Pekoe sell spoiled boba pearls to their customers?! I immediately returned to their store and demanded a refund. The cashier was apologetic and offered to remake the drinks, but I said, "No, my girls now have stomach aches and one actually vomited." As I was waiting in line to request my refund, I noticed other patrons who were sipping their boba drinks kept making weird faces like their boba pearls were spoiled or tasted odd. Came because my friend really wanted to try the drinks again after not having them since 2 years. This was my first visit to the store and love the vibes of the place! They've got cool leather white couches on the left side of the store and the right side is where you order and pick up drinks. The music is pretty loud so it could be a little hard to hear while inside, but I think it's supposed to go along with the vibes the store is trying to give off.  I got the Jasmine Milk Tea with their honey boba 1/2 ice with no additional adjustments. I thought that the sweetness of the drink was spot on, but for honey boba it wasn't really that sweet. The biggest part that threw me off were the prices because it seemed a little high for boba, but that could be because it's been a while since I've been to any other boba shop other than Happy Lemon. SOOOO many modded cars and vapers in the parking lot LMAO. The lounge-like interior basically guarantees Pekoe as an ABG/hypebeast magnet. Cool concept, ok drinks. I've been here a few times with friends, never particularly impressed at any point. IDK what it is, whether it's the brand or mixing or what, but their milk teas always taste heavily of nondairy creamer. If you're a slow drinker, you'll immediately notice that their drinks separate quickly and look pretty sad right away. The tea flavor isn't that strong, and the drinks lean too sweet, even when adjusted. I'm surprised bc most boba spots that boast fresh ingredients usually deliver on the flavor... Other than the overall novelty and "cool" look, this is barely better than Quickly??? If you're looking to stick around, expect to either deal with loud ass EDM music inside, or the sad-looking communal benches outside. read more

OMG, where have I been this entire time? I've frequented a lot of boba spots in the South Bay by this point and its taken me this long to find this place. After just one trip, they've shot up to my top three boba spots in San Jose - hands down. Pekoe is a chill tea bar in Evergreen with a modern aesthetic and drinks that will make you coming back for more. Their menu isn't large but that's what makes them so good. They offer a variety of non-dairy milk and fruit tea drinks, all with its own signature flare. Pretty In Pink? Manly Melon? All of the names each deserve some praise as well as the quality and addictiveness of the actual drink. I ordered the Pekoe Special - their house jasmine tea infused with lavender, orange, and included with boba and grass jelly. Since they were out of the later, they were kind enough to let me sub for some lychee bits, which was a fantastic decision. This drink was everything - high quality tea and a wonderful mix of flavors to go along with the softest boba. I was immediately hooked and wished I had ordered another drink because I really couldn't make a decision based on all the descriptions. Pekoe is simply one of the best and I am so grateful that we stumbled upon this shop. I for sure want to come back again soon because I was living for this drink. I also want to give a huge shoutout to the staff here. On the day we went, there was an incredibly obnoxious young lady that mocked the mask policy and refused to keep her "it doesn't even work" painter's mask on while inside the store. I felt like I was gonna get diabetes just drinking that one drink. I would say the flavor of the milk tea is not bad...but I can't even say that with confidence because all I can taste is the sugar. I didn't even finish half my drink. It wasn't enjoyable and just didn't seem worth the calories/caffeine. The drink comes with boba, but they don't give you very much. Maybe my opinion will change if I come back and order light sweet. Although I don't even think I saw that as an option on the menu, and the cashier didn't ask me what level of sweetness I wanted. I hope this is just a blip on the radar, but my tea today was almost undrinkably bad. Pekoe has long been considered a top-tier if not the best bubble tea shop in San Jose. I would try to stop by most if not every time when I made it back to town to visit family, and (certainly pre-pandemic) lines would often be out the door. Today, I stopped by during Monday afternoon during the height of COVID-19 and nobody else was there. That wasn't too surprising. What was surprising was that the Pekoe Special ($5.50), the namesake, was terrible. I know what it should taste like, having enjoyed it several times before: earl grey with bergamot notes, mild sweetness, and a creamy mouthfeel. Today, it tasted oversteeped in both the sense of the tea tasting too bitter and the sour citrus of the bergamot being totally out of control. On top of that, the creamer component was decifient enough that it almost feltlike a non-milk tea. I did have it at 50% sweetness, but that shouldn't result in something this out of whack. The boba and grass jelly were actually just fine but did nothing to allay the lack of sweetness or other flavor balance. It's a big world out there, and I just may not go to Pekoe again unless a friend specifically invites me to do so. With so many local options, it really does take just one hot mess to tip the scales. read more

Very cool nightbar setting that attracts a lot of people at night. Drinks are made very fast. I think the tea is average and the drink overall is really sweet. You should be fine with half or no sweetness. I got the black dragon which is roasted oolong and I can't help but think while drinking that I've had better roasted oolong at other places. Super good quality boba! I was visiting from out of town & decided to stop here. I love the option of being able to split cups because I am super indecisive so this allows the best of both worlds :) I wanted a tea drink and a milk based drink & I got both! I love the idea of this. The Angela is really sweet so I recommend getting 50% sugar! As the for the thai tea, the sugar level is also pretty normal, but I decided to go with 50% sweetness as well. We only found out because the girl at the cashier had told 2-3 people after us that they ran out. I really enjoy contactless ordering so I was super excited when I found out you could order online. However, it said my gift card code was invalid even though it worked when I came in to order instead. I've heard that people have driven from other cities to try this place out but I don't really see anything special that I can't get anywhere else. Their fruit drinks are decent, and the only thing I would get if I do come here. My favorite fruit tea is probably their Manly Melons - it is refreshing and the name is humorous as well. I do not prefer their milk teas because of a weird aftertaste it gives off. I've been a loyal customer for this business ever since I was 13 years old and I would remember the Foxy Brown as my to-go drink, but nowadays I typically get the Pretty in Pink and Manly Melons flavor, which are some of their top sellers. I would say the service could be improved, because I work in a business like Pekoe where top-notch customer service is the standard, and I usually notice the employees putting the drinks out after shouting the number and walking back to the tea stations afterwards, so a "You're welcome" or a "No problem" would be greatly appreciated. Another thing I notice is that the music they play is too loud to where it's a bit difficult to communicate with the cashiers, but it typically happens at night, which are their busiest hours. Besides the music, the inside of the shop is well-decorated with a club like style, best experienced at night. In conclusion, I appluad Pekoe for their longevity and creativity in the milk tea game, and how they became more popular over time.
