Quickly becoming one of my favs when I'm in Tomah. Service is great and food is terrific. Hit and sour soup is on point . Highly recommend.

Good food and good service in downtown Tomah. Not a lot of choices around here, but this is a good option. It's pretty inexpensive for the quality of the food there.

I haven't been to the Peking Restaurant in years. I was craving it so bad. We went to visit my hometown Tomah from the twin cities, and this is by far still my favorite Chinese place to eat at. The staff is all friendly, and all of the food is amazing. The last time I visited was before the renovation. The inside and back area are absolutely beautiful! We ordered the general tso chicken, orange chicken, and Hong Kong chicken. It included broccoli, soup, and steamed rice. We also ordered the crab rangoon and dumplings. They both were so good. I have nothing, but love for this small town favorite.

The food was excellent. The service was very pleasant and attentive. Broccoli in Carlos sauce was 10/10 for me. Friend had General Tso's chicken that was also delicious. This is a little gem in a little downtown area with a small-town feel. I will definitely be back.

Ambiance was awesome. My first sit down Chinese restaurant and they did great. The service was great and the food came out fast and delicious. I got a whole spread of food for $20. I got the Peking special dinner (see pics below). Everything was delicious. I cannot stress that enough. Definitely your go-to Chinese in Tomah. The chili oil was $1 extra and they gave me the whole pot lol. Love it.

Whats up with those bear and panda dumplings? Are they good? What flavor are they?

They are called dimsum. They are all made of something different. I remember one of the staff told me the dog was sweet potato, I don't remember the others though. They are more of a dessert type food, but they taste pretty good. However if your eat… Read more

The food is mostly Sichuan, with some American Chinese staples as well. It's also a huge space, so you'll never have problem getting a table. They do a lot of takeout business as well. I highly recommend the spicy Sichuan chicken (with tongue-numbing peppercorn), the Chongqing chicken, home style tofu, and spicy green beans. I also brought several colleagues who enjoyed Taste of Sichuan very much, and returned themselves!

The server who took our order was very friendly. I was hesitating about whether to add more dishes, and he honestly told me that what we ordered should be enough. He was right--we couldn't even finish it! The restaurant space is quite large, and most of the customers seemed to be students from the nearby area. The reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because the front desk staff had a pretty bad attitude. I called earlier to ask if the restaurant was open, and her responses were impatient, and she even hung up the phone abruptly. That really affected the overall experience. Overall, the food is good and the portions are great, but the customer service at the front desk needs improvement.

The veg egg roll ($4) wasn't bad with a good wrapper and non-mushy filling. The sauteed green beans ($9.25) (vegan by default) depressed me as it consisted of frozen green beans turned chewy in a flavorless sauce. The vegetable chow mei fun ($9.75) (vegan by default) consists of thin rice noodles in salty seasoning. I'm assuming it was MSG (which doesn't bother me), but the dish won't wow you and it might turn you off. The beancurd w/mushroom & bamboo ($10.75) is the only substantial vegan tofu dish and here it's a mix of vegetables and tofu in a gloopy brown sauce. While not amazing, it wasn't terrible. I also ordered a vegetable gyoza, but they forgot to give that to me, and it wasn't worth it to complain once I figured it out. La Crosse doesn't have a ton of Chinese spots other than stripmall buffet spots. Great Wall is a couple blocks away and, while I didn't try it, it seems popular and the food looks decent based on its pictures.

When we walked in, a waitress and hostess where sitting at a table and cutting the tips off of a crate of fresh green beans (I took that as a good sign that the vegetables where fresh). I started with an egg role, a crab Rangoon and a cup of hot and sour soup and a cream cheese stuffed mushroom. The egg roll was good, with a crispy outside and flavorful inside. The crab Rangoon was very good. The mushroom was ok, but a little watery for my taste. I am a huge fan of hot and sour soup, but most restaurants leave me a little flat. The hot and sour soup here would rate with some of my favorites! My daughter also loved it and got two bowls. I then moved to the main courses. The fried rice was ok, but not great. My daughter liked the noodle. We both had a number of the chicken dishes and they were great. I had some port, seafood and vegetable dishes and everything was prepared well and tasty. We both went back for seconds. I finished off with some bandana pudding, which was obviously made from scratch. They had a number of items for desert including ice-cream. I would definitely go back the next time we are up in the dells area.
