First off the staff was laterally made if feel like they were irritated we came for lunch. I have had some food in my day that I was like oh that's not good. This place made me for the first time spit into a napkin on several occasions. There ice cream freezer is up Too high the ice cream was burnt but I guess it would have to match the rest of the dry rubbery tasteless food. I would not suggest this as a first date. Do not patronize this place. While the food is actually very good the staff attitude toward the people that eat there is HORRIBLE!! I arrived at Tomah to stay the night after a day-long drive from North Dakota. Being hungry after having had no formal meal at all during the day, I went immediately to the restaurant after checking in at the hotel. I got to the restaurant about 55 minutes before they 'closed'. Despite this, I was told that they would not be bringing out any fresh food because they were "about to close". About 10 minutes after I arrived, they then began breaking down the food that WAS on the buffet. This was accompanied by people beginning to wipe down the buffet tables to include countertops and the glass canopies over the steamer tables. Then, 10 minutes before the restaurant was to 'close', the person working the cash register came to the table and said I was free to stay until closing but he asked that I pay now so that they could "turn the computer off". I went to the cash register and did as he asked but, when I returned to the table to finish my drink, the staff had completely cleared the table!!! Oh, and yes, I was charged the same full price for the buffet despite not having access to all the items on the menu because they stopped replenishing items that had run out as well as beginning to break down the buffet LONG before they 'closed'. The restaurant staff have no clue about customer service. That they are there to serve and make the dining experience pleasant for their customers--The people who pay for the meal. The buffet should remain fully stocked the entire time you are open! This includes replenishing items that get eaten as well as not beginning to breakdown the buffet until AFTER the time you close. You SHOULD NOT begin to clean up (sweep, mop, etc.) until AFTER the time the restaurant closes. By performing as you did when I was there, you demonstrated your contempt for your customers and showed that the only needs that you care about are your own. read more

Pleasantly surprised! Here for business and stayed at Holiday Inn near the restaurant. Lots of fast food to choose from in the area. (Ate most of the places for lunch and dinner) Was reluctant to try but on the last night I decided to order via their website for pickup. (Nice website and easy to order). Picked up via their drive up window. I got the small hot and sour soup and Happy Family. Both were delicious and great price. If back here again for work will definitely go back. I read the reviews and almost didn't come. But then I know that the secret to buffets is go when they open or during rush hour then the food will be fresh. They are a little on the expensive side though. 11.14 and the buffet is on the small side, about 50 items. But it good though. I would come back. The employees aren't the friendly type if you are of color but if you are white about 60 years old then they will talk to you a lot and see if you are ok. I seen that with my own eyes. But again I'm here to eat not make new friends. If you are easily offend then u might not want to dine here. I'm a truck driver so I'm use to it. read more

One thing is for certain: you will not find a more honest, authentic Chinese restaurant in central western Wisconsin. When we stepped through the front door, we were instantly greeted by a friendly staff member, and the sweet, welcoming aroma of General Tsao's chicken. We were seated at a cozy booth, and through the authentic decor felt instantly transported back to my childhood home of Liaocheng. As we strolled through the buffet line, our ears were serenaded by the mellifluous sound of Chinese pop music playing in the background, while our eyes beheld the wonder of iridescent light emanating from the vast variety of food selection. As for the food, it's hard to know where to begin. But like always, sushi caught our eye like the pretty girl at the bar. It was a work of art; handcrafted by none other than a world-class sushi maestro. Wonders of combinations only the bravest and boldest chef would dare try, from caviar with avocado, to salmon and crab, but by far the best was a traditional tuna roll. Our palates were satisfied but the array of remaining dishes enticed us. The Mongolian beef was unlike anything else. It surprises you with a kick to the tongue, but finishes off with a smooth, sweet flavor, comparable only to your first experience with Sour Patch Kids. And this review would not suffice without mentioning the crab rangoon. As you take the first bite, the texture is crunchy with a creamy filling that fills your mouth with wonder and amazement. If you live within a three-hour radius, it would be well worth your while to travel to China Buffet of Tomah, Wisconsin. Our family will certainly be making it a tradition. On our way home from a day in Wis Dells on Sunday and hoping for crab legs. After deciding Crabbys in the Dells was overpriced, we hit the road still not sure where to get dinner. We happened to see a billboard for this restaurant in Tomah- what luck! We had a nice, attentive waitress and the restaurant was busy but not packed thanks to plenty of seating. Crab legs only come out every 20 to 30 minutes but for only $11 per person (inc drink) it was worth the wait! Our other favorites included the roasted chicken, grilled pork and spicy beef. read more

We typically stop here to and from Milwaukee as it is about halfway from Minneapolis. Food is very average and sometimes certain dishes are a bit old on the buffet. But the price is reasonable and it is a quick stop when traveling through. A good alternative to the fast food places in the area. Last weekend the hot and sour soup was pretty good. I have had way better. We came in on a Sunday evening but still well within operation hours. Yet many things on the buffet buckets were empty, the food was sorta old, the salad bar had lots of things to add to a salad but no lettuce etc. The waitress takes our drink order, brings us our drinks and never returns to ask about refills or anything else.
