I really enjoy this buffet and eat here frequently driving N/S on 94. Love the crab Rangoon's and crispy chicken. Food is always fresh and good. Inside isn't the nicest but it's a truck stop Chinese buffet so it's about what you expect. Food is good though. read more

Best to get there at start of lunch and dinner. 2-3 hours after start food won't be as fresh or hot Born and raised in Chicago suburbs. There is a difference between here and there. Egg foo young tastes a little bland here maybe it the no msg In regards to egg rolls the hot mustard is almost like dejouin mustard. In Chicago you use it sparingly and if you don't it will take your breath away open your sinuses and your eyes will start tearing. I asked if they have anything like that and they said no they could get it but Wisconsin people don't like it so they don't order it anymore. Carpet and furniture is a little worse for ware but that don't bother me. Tried other Chinese restaurants in 30 mile radius this is the best so far. I'm told Madison Milwaukee and lacrosse are better but I don't want to drive 75-100 miles for Chinese food. Note order take out. Quality is much better Than buffet read more

Dude at the register is a jerk, I might've had a pleasant experience if it wasn't for him. Now I rem why I stopped buying chinese for yrs. Ill stick with the korean & vietnamese the food is better anyway. Wouldn't recommend this place read more

On my way from Chicago to NW Minnesota. Stopped at this restaurant after seeing their billboard along I-90. Surprisingly, the food was good for a buffet. Many selections of chicken and hunan beef. The only chinese buffet where I don't see pork in the buffet. Definitely one of good buffet. The lunch during the holiday (probably considered as dinner) is $14.99. read more

China Buffet - The salad bar has turkey instead of ham. - Cantonese Near Me - Mauston, Wisconsin

Did I ever think I would eat a a place called China Buffet and think I would write a four star review? My friends told me that the truck drivers love this place and has good food and I was impressed that they were correct. Let's call this an Americanized Chinese buffet so don't expect authentic food. They had a variety of the staples like General Tso's, noodle dishes, plus desserts. The buffet had three separate stations so it is rather big. My only disappointment was that they didn't have any soup or dishes with wontons; however, everything else was good. They even had a small section of sushi which I didn't try. read more

Not what I expected. No beef with garlic on the buffet. The miss labeled crab whatever was actually something I loved. Asian pastry filled with cream cheese and they had the sauce to go with it! read more

Small buffet food was ok/not great, water was leaking from light fixture where you walk around the bars, way to kill someone there.....informed the man and acted like it wasn't a big deal read more

Food was very good and plenty of it. Staff are friendly BUT just wish they would clean their bathrooms. Floors, around corners, doors and garbage can need a good cleaning. read more

Great eating place, all the normal favorites and a really great staff! Quick to refill drinks and really fast! Fresh food even at 3 pm, really good. read more

Been here several times and the food and service is usually very good. I find that If I stop at off peak times, between normal meal times, the food on the buffet seems to sit and not be as good as when the restaurant is busy.. they serve Pepsi products and a pretty good selection of beers. read more

China Buffet - a plate of food on a wooden table - Cantonese Near Me - Mauston, Wisconsin

They have parking available for trucks which is great and accessible. Lots of food options and great desserts. The servers were very nice and made sure our table and drinks stayed clean and full. My husband and I ate at lunch time and our bill came out to be less than $40 (before tip) great price for basically 6 plates of food read more

As soon as I walked in, the host ordered me into the bathroom to wash my hands before he would seat me. Unnecessary, as I had washed them at the gas station next door literally seconds before I entered. But I obliged. Upon exiting the bathroom, a new host asked me to wash my hands before she could seat me. I refused, saying I already had. They wanted me to wash my hands after every plate I ate, before I got a new plate, which I refused. If the place is so filthy that touching their plates and serving utensils and eating there makes my hands dirty, maybe they should stay closed. As I was waiting to pay, a man came in. The same host didnt order him into the bathroom to wash his hands before he seated him. He just took him to a table. So this place discriminates against women eating there alone. You will be all but called dirty the whole time you are there eating their mediocre food. Food was mediocre. I was there as soon as they opened on Sunday, so you'd think they'd really put out the best, but no. The vegetables in the cold salads were visibly rotten, and had a rotten produce taste. The bourbon chicken was mostly burned, and disgustingly inedible. I don't eat desserts, so I dont know how those were. Lots of fried foods too, and fake sushi. Waste of a lot of money. read more

Food was sugary and/or salty so it was okay. Sushi wasn't the best. The service was good though. It was a below average experience for a Buffet. read more

The food was amazing but some of the food was very disgusting the noodles are so bad and I would not recommend this business. The choice of food they have is very small and the soup choices are very small and the soup tastes very bad and I won't come here again. read more

Good food and good varieties. Too bad they couldn't get our drinks right, otherwise than that, I'd go again.

We were in Town for a drs. app't the food was never great but we decided to give it another try well bad choice I ordered sweet&sour chicken very dry and some I couldn't even eat my husband ordered hot&spicy shrimp very bland we had everything to go I also ordered egg foo young well when the guy packed it in a paper bag he put one of the sauces on the bottom and you guessed it it squeezed out of the paper coated little cup and was all over the bottom of the bag and also the food needless to say we won't be back no more chances.. read more

We come here every few months for a break from traditional restaurant food. That and my wife loves chinese! I like it, ocassionally. The food is predictable with no surprises. Once you have eaten here, that pretty much is it. ALL of the staff is Chinese and they speak often amongst themselves! You really know you are in a Chinese restaurant! The service is very fast and folks are constantly roaming the floor to pick up dishes, TO A FAULT, from tables, almost as fast as you move them to the end! Makes a person feel rushed. It is always clean here and staff helpful. Only negative and thus the three stars, none of the food is ever hot. Luke warm at best. That is a bummer for me because i like my food HOT! Plenty of parking and handicap accessable. This building used to house a country kitchen and has never been remodeled. The booths are tight and the seats have long ago lost any padding! All in all, we come here a couple of times a year. It is right off of I90/94 at the Mauston exit. read more

Food really had no taste to it. rice was burnt and soggy at the same time, how the hell were they able to do that. gave them two stars for that reason alone. don't really come up here too often but maybe I'll forgive/forget and try again someday maybe read more

Really disappointed. The Food is only hot when it's brought out. I like food to be hot. Unreal no Egg Foo Young!!!! How is that at a Chinese Restaurant. The inside needs a Total Update. Ceiling tiles filthy. Booths not real comfortable. Customers should be greeted with a Smile! I've been here before and no improvements. China Buffet you can improve, Please. read more

I'm not going to lie, I wasn't expecting much from a Chinese buffet in a small town. I was pleasantly surprised. It's pretty standard Chinese Buffet...as in not the most authentic, but more authentic than some I've seen. Other reviewers are pretty correct... the food here is WARM. Not hot. Service is fair. read more

Poor selection, food was warm but borderline cold, almost everything tasted the same probably due to being cooked on the same surface with little to no in between surface cleaning. Chicken and broccoli was cold. I like broccoli so I ate it anyways and there wasn't much to chose from Fish was okay, drown it in tarter same with the shrimp. Not very warm but it is a buffet at 7 pm I expect fresher food not supper leftovers to stay in the bins Wontons were soggy Egg rolls had no flavor, seemed like just shredded cabbage inside Noodles were good Rice was undercooked Sushi was okay nothing to write home about but not bad Mongolian beef was barely warm, The waiter seemed annoyed because I came there by myself and sat at a table for 2 but asked to move because I had a couple friends coming to join me. Waiter gave me a disgusted look. read more

Great food. Always hot and very tasty. Good selection and variety. One of my favorite places!!

I just ate here today for about the third time in 6 months. I never ate here in 2013 when those bad reviews were given, but if it was bad then I think they've come a long ways. They have some really spicy soup (Most places just barely spice it up so whips won't throw a fit). I thought the buffet had a great wide variety of dishes. I've eaten here during the week at lunch hour when there's a good selection, but not as much higher value dishes as on the weekend. The staff was really attentive and picked up right away when dishes were finished. I gave a 4 star because they're really good, but not exceptional like a 5 star would be. read more

Great Food and Service, along with extremely clean tables. The staff was nice and respectful and were all great at taking used plates and filling our drinks. Food was delicious above all. read more

This place is amazing. Delicious food and great service. Best Asian food i've had in a long while.

Not impressed. Food not bad service fair. Just mediocre food. Nothing spectacular. Lots of everything good and hot. Flavors fair.

No. I found bones in my General Tso's, the soup was almost grey, and nothing had much flavor. For $11 (a pretty expensive chinese buffet in a small town) it was NOT worth it. Don't waste your time or money. read more

Terrible. Gave this place one more shot, and they have gotten worse. Food is lousy and looks worse. We went before the dinner rush, and almost all the food was cold. I would give 0 stars if I could. It's pretty expensive for a Chinese buffet too. I will not be back. DO NOT RECOMMEND. read more

Very good food. It was fresh and hot enough to actually need to be blown on before eating. That's a first for Chinese buffets from my experience! read more

Our favorite place for a celebratory meal or to start a difficult day with a great breakfast. Lady Wife and I have been recommending China Buffet since before they relocated from a harder-to-find, smaller place. A world-traveling epicure may have things to complain of, but we practical folk are glad of the best Chinese cuisine within an hour's drive or more. That includes Baraboo, the Dells, ... We see truck drivers there besides local folks. As folk musicians we are biased away from loud music, grateful for the restorative atmosphere and super-friendly wait staff. Our expectations, educated in Chicago's Chinatown restaurants and New York, give us no regrets for moving away. read more

Great selection, quick service, friendly staff. We were seated, the food was out and prepared. The dishes were clean and the price per person was actually pretty fair. For 2 people it was around $22.00 with drinks. Not bad! Hope it stays around as we stayed at the Hotel across the street and were looking for some food to eat. read more

Really enjoyed the selection. Clean restaurant. Good food. Nice service. Will be back for sure.

Loved it. Will definitely go back. Arrived early. Food plentiful and hot. Price was right. Staff pleasant.

Stopped here on way to international falls, MN from Rochester, NY about 3 weeks ago. After being on the road for about 14 hours we wanted something quick to eat. This was across the street from our hotel. It hit the spot. Some items were very good while others were fair. Not the best Chinese buffet, but definitely not the worst. Would stop here again. read more
