Pekadill's is a cute sandwich and ice cream shop located in a white frame building with large front porch - just like a general store out of the early 20th century. My husband enjoyed the vegetarian croissant and side of homemade scalloped apples. I had a delicious French dip and a portion of dilled coleslaw as my side. One of the nicest features of Pekadill's is that you can order exactly the size sandwich you wish - small, medium or large. We capped our meal by sharing a hot fudge brownie sundae with Ashby's Michigan Pothole ice cream - YUM! The employees were friendly and the service quick. There's a beautifully landscaped rear garden and deck with tables so you can enjoy your meal outdoors or elect to sit in one of the pleasant indoor dining areas - one even has a cast iron stove for those chilly winter days. Whitehall is a small town, and Pekadill's is a small-town sandwich shop and ice cream parlour. It is so typical and descriptive of its environment, you must stop here when you visit Whitehall, even if just for an ice cream cone ... or take time for a homemade sandwich in their lovely garden patio. read more

I was in the area on vacation and stumbled across Pekadill's in a local advertisement, so I took the family there for lunch. It was an absolutely perfect lunch experience. The sandwich selection is dizzying, but I finally picked one along with some coleslaw. Perhaps that style of coleslaw is regional, but I've never seen anything like it. In any case, it was very good. I loved how the cabbage was shredded into fine little strips. I really enjoyed it. The sandwich (the #9 for those keeping track) was awesome as well. The bread was soft and wonderful, the deli meat was tasty, and the veggies were fresh. Oh, and the lettuce was cut into super thin little strips that just take the sandwich to the next level. I don't know why that makes it better, but it does. Believe me. I had the whole sandwich, which in retrospect was almost too much food for me. It was around $6.95 for the whole sandwich and a side, which is a fair price for the quality and quantity I got. I could have been pleasantly full with the half sandwich which was (I think) $4.95. That seems really reasonable to me. My wife wife had a sandwich on a croissant, and she thought hers was excellent too. Also, I should mention the kids menu is very nice with options like hot dogs and toasted cheese sandwiches, which come with a side and a drink, and the kicker is that the kids combos are only three bucks and change. The icing on the cake is that Pekadill's has great ice cream too. The kids had the "real" bubble gum ice cream that most places don't carry: the kind that has actual gum in the ice cream. I had some sugar-free butter pecan; it was nice to see they had some sugar free options. I can't forget to mention the really friendly service (everyone was so helpful!) and great atmosphere (vintage ice cream shop) too. And finally, it is always a bonus to find a place that offers a pleasant outdoor dining environment when you're in the mood to dine under the open sky. I can't say enough about this place. Great food, great service, and great atmosphere. My only complaint is that I live 4 hours away. read more

We discovered this little gem after dropping off our daughters at Blue Lake Camp. They have the best sandwiches we have EVER had. Very fresh, nice sized portions and a nice outdoor garden area with llittle nooks to eat in. Fast and very friendly staff. The soup was also amazing. We would consider driving an hour away from home to come back. read more

I was brought here by a friend who's been coming here for years - her all-time favorite sandwich shop. My sandwich was perfect. The whole wheat bread was light, airy and just a bit toasty on the edges - mmm! Generous portions of ham and turkey, the exact right amount of mayo...Yum-Oh! The inside of the restaurant is retro and very cool, including photos from the past. We sat outside in the garden - it is beautiful and relaxing. read more

First trip here, man I wish we lived in the area. Every meal ordered was perfect. They have Ribs and chicken on Fridays and Saturdays (I think Saturdays as well lol), and holy crap the Ribs were better than expected. Best ribs we've had since being in Michigan. We're from the south so we're self-appointed BBQ snobs, but these ribs were great. We'll up to our "standard". Planning to make another visit this weekend! read more

1st time dining here...came in for lunch. I just moved from Florida and coming from a busy town with hundreds of different restaurants, this place is AMAZING!!!! And so far tops all the sandwich shops I've been to back home... Will be back again and possibly my new favorite new place to eat as I consider myself a foodie. Nice selection of sandwiches, soups and salads. Choice of bread, English muffin, croissant for sandwich. Side choice of packaged chips or macaroni salad, warm apple sauce, Cole slaw-each tasted homemade. Very quick service-food is ordered behind counter, paid for then you sit and the order is brought out to you. They also have ice cream! Waffle cones, sundaes, sodas, shakes, etc. a bit expensive, but definitely give them a try! read more
