First time visit. I ordered their big breakfast "hungry man" with 3 eggs, choice of meat, hash browns, and toast. Scrambled eggs, sausage patties, hash browns well done and rye toast. The portion of eggs was huge, seemed more than just 3 eggs, hash browns weren't well down as requested and too much butter on toast. Nice dining room with lots of diners. Good value. read more

I ordered the stuffed hash brown. The potatoes were chewy & mushy. There were very little meat and veggies in the mixture. I would have sent it back but the waitress never came back to our table to check on us until the bill was dropped off. Also never order your eggs over easy because the previous time we were there they were so runny they were dangerous. It took the third time of requesting replacement eggs before they were edible. They get food out in a timely minor by undercooking it. Previously we had good breakfasts of country fried steak and eggs benedict. Nice cafe just improve those undercooking issues. read more

The Moondance Cafe was your typical diner in a small town. The food was good and it seems to be one of the better places to eat in Fremont. The carrot cake was 4 tiered and phenomenal. We also liked the homemade pasta salad that was served with the wrap. We came for the coffee flights but we couldn't believe how much they cost. $20 or more depending on what flight you choose. We thought it was a little overpriced. They have blown up on Facebook because they keep posting about their flights, which is understandable, but they know people will over pay for the flights because it is the " in thing" right now. Moondance was a great find! I was really surprised with what they had to offer and it was definitely more than I expected out of a random place in Fremont. The breakfast was made perfect and they had a ton of different options for bread (including gluten free, if that's your thing!). Most notable for me was all the coffee they had - tons of options - it looked like they sold a bunch of different bulk beans (not sure what I got with my meal -- but it was tasty) and they also offer a good selection of custom coffee drinks. I'd stop by again and recommend this place without hesitation. read more

Every time I go I get hair in my food! I've gone many times and it's just disappointing and gross. Wear hair nets please. The food is usually good though, other than the hair, and the service is great. Although I have to add one time my grandpa went here and got food poisoning from the eggs. read more

The food is very good and the service is always excellent. Since Cathy bought it and took it over, it has improved, although it was already fairly good. It's the best sit-down restaurant in town. The atmosphere is nice and the place is always clean. The people are the reason it's always nice to be there. The food is what I would call Americana comfort. I love to go there when I'm feeling good, and I appreciate how it cheers me up when I'm not feeling so good. I feel like I should say something negative, so that my review is believable, but I honestly cannot think of a thing...wait, here's something: their sign is old. Since I can't give a 2 1/2 star rating, I will go with 2 (could have been better). Friends and I were visiting the local hospital and we asked for a recommendation on where to go for lunch. One of the nurses said The Moondance Cafe was their favorite place in town for French Toast. so we had an open mind and good feeling when going there. However, when I'm hungry, I'm looking for something more substantial than toast with syrup on it. The best way to describe my first impression of The Moondance Cafe was that it was the size of a small diner, but had way too much stuff crammed into it. The whole coffee and drink area seemed out of place and squeezed in haphazardly. The cakes in the cooler right as you walk in the door looked inviting and homemade, but the emphasis put on coffee and iced drinks reminded me of a wannabe Starbucks. The result was tacky, not inspiring. Nothing was fresh. All their syrups and flavorings in bottles or beans it seemed. Ho hum. The 3 of us all ordered regular coffee and thought there was absolutely nothing special about it. By comparison, there are several small Mom & Pop shops where we love their coffee and always get more than 1 cup each. Even if it was just "regular" coffee, Moondance should really care about their coffee reputation. Even truck stops know the importance of good coffee. We sat at a table and chairs. If you don't get there early enough, the booths are mostly taken by people who linger and read the paper sitting alone at a booth or just chatting with a friend. So annoying when you're squeezed for space. The tables are all crowded in the center of the room with waitresses walking a maze around you carrying food and empty plates. Or, you sit in blinding sun and or roast at the window. One of my companions ordered a breakfast with eggs as well as biscuits and gravy. Oh my. Hard, old biscuits and salty gravy. Also, one egg was runny, and the other was hard. Huh? How did that happen? He'll never order eggs in that restaurant, again. The cook could have seen the egg was hard. I ordered a burger, my usual safe choice at a first time restaurant location. With it, a side of onion rings. My burger was OK as I sat at the window with the sun burning my neck. The bun was not toasted, the tomato was very green, there was a single ring of onion on it. Then someone blasted the whole thing with mustard. Ewwww. The meat looked pre-formed and tasted frozen, though they say it's hand packed. Dry. No meat juices, and I am not one to eat rare meat. I had to wait for a waitress to ask for mayo as I scraped off a copious amount of mustard. Then I had to wait again for her to bring it. By that time, my friends were almost ready to leave and she was writing up the check. By then, my burger was cold. I wasn't hungry anymore, but I wasn't happy, either. My little lunch experiment had set me back $20 not including tax and tip. I didn't even get the cheese I asked for, which I paid extra to get. If I could go back in time, I would have ordered one of their salads, which seem to be about the best and freshest choice on the menu. Maybe with a big slice of cake. But the people I went with have shown no interest in going back. One of my companions said, "they spend so much time trying to figure out how to make malts and Italian and French sodas, cappuccino and latte's, hot chocolate and smoothies that nobody has time to learn to cook an egg." Meatloaf, Crab Omelettes, Burritos, Deep Fried Green Beans, BBQ Ribs, Hot Dogs, Cappuccino, Southwest Spring Rolls... their menu is all over the map. They should focus, and become consistent. I think what the restaurant needs is a professional cook/chef who can make the kind of bistro/ gourmet food the people of Fremont would like to have and the restaurant owner wants to serve. My impression is that they have people with marginal short order experience running the kitchen with the help of local home cooks... and one special person who really knows how to make cake. read more

They have the best stuffed Hashbrowns and friendly staff that are on there tired and very reliable when it comes to your visit you are in and out of there with very little wait time! I love how open the space is you get to enjoy all the natural lighting from outside with all the big windows and cute set up. read more

I absolutely love Moon Dance! By far the best restaurant in Fremont. They have an excellent breakfast, lunch and dinner menu. My favorite breakfast items are the veggie burrito and the crab omelet. As for lunch, I'm a sucker for a good Olive burger so that's usually what I order. Their meat is excellent. They have a huge specialty latte menu as well as restaurant basics like tea and soda. They have beer and cocktails as well. Try to get Lori for your waitress, she's awesome! read more

Must be new ownership because the service and food are not what they used to be, terrible. When i saw one of the staff wearing a t shirt from the local ice cream place just off downtown i knew. The same ice cream place that i will NEVER go back to because they refused me service because i was not wearing a mask during covid and i was outside!!! read more

The service was very good, my waitress was nice and very pleasant to have. I wish I got her name because she deserves the recognition. The food was okay, my mother ordered the baby back ribs that were a bit dry. I orders a chicken caesar wrap which was good. Had stuff French Toast Banana was really good. Our table tried 3 of the flights of coffee,hot & cold. Great service that time. Went back in again & we tried the panni, granddaughter had French toast sticks. Server hard time after she gave the wrong food saying that's what I ordered. Then forgot to bring my daughter her refill. Took her time bring our bill. We will be back because to like the food. Make sure we don't get that server again! read more

This is a gem. We came for dinner on a Friday night and the service was friendly. Our food came out fast and delicious. I had the chicken noodle soup and you can tell it was homemade with love. When the new owners purchased it, I came back in and gave it a second try. The first two or three times were great! In the last few times I've come here, the coffee was burnt, the eggs were undercooked, the hash browns weren't cooked all the way through and tasted like unchanged grease or with a fishy taste, so they offered me toast, which was "expedited" but came out half black. The waitress told me that she comped the toast. She offered me toast, so why would she not comp it? When I came here before, they toast their biscuits on the griddle. I ordered the sausage and biscuits and the biscuits came out burnt. The waitress looked at me like I was crazy. Like everyone bakes biscuits on a griddle or a grill. Although they reheated others in a toaster to placate me, they had an attitude about it and it wasn't my fault they can't NOT burn bread. The place looks great but the attitudes of the staff and the lack of knowledge and culinary skills of the cooks is obvious by the presentation and quality of food that is presented when it comes time to eat. This was a great find on my Fremont adventure. They make bread in-house each morning for the toast. BFF Missy and I shared the raisin bread and it was a thick, yet light slice of spicy sweet bread. Yum. We also split the peaches and cream stuffed french toast and stuffed hasbrowns. Ha, ha! We're stuffed too. Everything was served warm and freahly made. I'm a huge fan of the taco salad. They serve it with homemade tortilla chips and the salsa/dressing is amazing. I've tried a few other things there, but the taco salad is the one thing that really stands out for me. The service is something that could be better. It always seems like they are understaffed and the kitchen and service is slow. So if you have the time to sit down, stop in and enjoy a very good meal. read more
