I don't often write reviews about chains, unless they are really good or really bad at a particular location. This location is impressive. First, I've always avoided this business because it was a child of P.F. Chang's, which isn't terrible, but got on my nerves. They divorced a few years ago. We happened to be driving home from picking up a new cell phone, and my wife mentioned the other major Asian chain. Pei Wei, however, was a left turn away. We were there well after the 5-7 p.m. typical dinner hours, and our order was quickly taken at the counter and cooked within our view. The Orange Chicken and Firecracker Shrimp were pretty damn good. Fresh and crispy with appealing sauces. The Firecracker sauce is what General Tso's should be -- some sweet and heat. The Orange Chicken sauce, has a little bite, but I could also taste the orange. I get it that some mom & pop restaurants might serve five-star recipes on one night, and single-star recipes the next, because of issues involving product procurement and a lack of consistency when it comes to employee training. While I mostly go with the mom & pop joints, consistency on occasion can be my friend. Bottom line: The food here was good (to-go) on our visit. And almost as good the next day when we warmed everything up in the microwave. Employees here are friendly, and the place was spic and span. I'll be back. read more

I used to love Pei Wei and went on a regular basis years ago when I lived in San Antonio. Granted I haven't been in years but they have definitely gone downhill. First we stood at the counter for a little while before someone came up to us. There was a guy cleaning the tables and he could've let us know that someone would be right with us but he did not. I didn't think he would be the one taking our order but he was so that made it even worse that he didn't acknowledge us. He took our order and I asked for brown rice and he gave me white rice but I just ate it because he didn't charge me for it. I ordered the Mongolian beef which was always my go to but the meat had a funny after taste. We also got some of the Thai donuts for dessert to try and they tasted like they were fried in old oil. Lastly I got iced tea to drink and it kinda grossed me out how dirty the tea machine and urns were. It just made me wonder how dirty the kitchen equipment was if the tea urns and machine were that dirty and they are on display for all the guests to see. All I can say is do better Pei Wei. I won't be coming back here again. read more

This location has gone down in their quality. We hadn't been there in over a year, so decided to get Dan Dan noodles, Mongolian beef, sesame chicken, and vegetable spring rolls. There was a hair in the sesame chicken, the beef was mushy, and upon further inspection, was completely raw in the middle. The Dan Dan noodles were dry, under seasoned, and the chicken was overcooked. Extremely disappointed, as this used to be a place that had good food at a decent price. Not sure what happened, but this place is not on our rotation anymore. read more

Michael at the front is always rude. He never speaks to black customers or asks if we need help. I'm thinking about staging a sit in with a few of my friends and see how it turns out. I get $80 per diem from work but I never hardly eat here because every time I do I remember how rude they are and that's the reason why I don't. I have eaten at and ordered from this Pei Wei location numerous times over the last four years with excellent service and delicious food! Tonight my favorite, lettuce wraps, came with lettuce that had been frozen. Completely limp and transparent. EPIC FAIL not what you want delivered on a $47.00 order. And for the first time ever Honey seared chicken had white rice and (surprise!) crispy rice sticks. Guess the always reliable delivery service is much less reliable nowadays! read more

After a conversation with Pei Wei customer service I feel confident that my comments on the shortcomings of this particular location will be investigated and acted upon. Because of that positive response I have removed some of my more negative comments and upgraded their review to 3 stars. This particular location had some serious quality problems, which are hopefully being corrected. I have always liked the food at Pei Wei, and will try other locations as I have the opportunity. Food is great but the service to get to that great food is terrible!!!!! The manager is a rude and arrogant and disrespectful man! He chooses to argue instead of correcting a mistake! We ordered our food a certain way that was made perfect the last time we visited by the cook. The order was taken perfectly by the lady in front, who by the way was superb! But! On this particular day we ordered by phone, well my son did and he called not once but three times to be hung up on twice and put on hold for at least 10-15 minutes the last time! On that last time, the manager, Mike, was to busy to listen to the order and erroneously did Not do what we asked for! Extra crispy TOFU on our dish! They made this for us before! since my son had a bad time with him on phone I went in to get order and diffuse any situation that may of been a problem if my son had gone in. I asked to see if the TOFU was crispy like we asked and the nice host gave me a fork to check. As I opened the dish, I noticed it looked squishy! I then tried it and it was! I told her no it wasn't what I asked for and asked her to please have them remake it! I then noticed the manager arguing about the dish to the cook and the other person behind the counter about it and I chimed in saying it wasn't crispy like I asked and I have had it this way before and MIKE said they make it this way all the time and I said I have been coming 10 years and I just had it like this the other time no problem and he still argued saying the cook has been making this for 10 years just like this for 10 years...OMG!?!? Really MIke! did you not hear anything I said!?! I ordered it extra crispy not like you make it ! like I ordered it for the last 10 years! Not like everyone orders it, unless they are me and in my head, and know I like it extra crispy! i left upset and disappointed and angry! Mike your definitely not a good PR at all and don't listen to the customer and cannot handle anything past two orders!?! No one was there! No ONE!
