Our second time having takeout from Pegtown. The first time last year the wait was double what was quoted. The pizza was decent - everyone was hungry by then so it got wolfed down. We had an issue with something missing but it's a 15 minute drive from where we stay so we let it go. This last time, we ordered pizza ahead, had asked for 2 ingredients to be omitted, and when we got back home, there were copious amounts of both on the pizza. The pizza is ok - an option when other pizza places in the area are closed, it filled the need, but probably our last time trying it. Kind of bummed. read more

No frills atmosphere serving up all the classics with amazing service. The pancakes are a great size, nice flavor, fluff, and griddled to perfection. Bacon was nice and crispy. Very busy but comfortable small town diner. We ate breakfast and the portions were large and the prices were reasonable. I had the engineers breakfast and it covered all the bases. The coffee was excellent. I read previous reviews about the service and I will admit out waitress did give a fake smile and greeting initially, however, she warmed up fast. She provided prompt, friendly service and kept the coffee filled while managing a breakfast rush on a Saturday morning. Many locals in the restaurant. Very limited menu with basic choices. The service wasn't very good. The lady seemed annoyed when I asked her for more coffee creamer as there was only 1 left on the table. Took a long time to get refills and had to ask for them. Felt like we were bothering her just being there. Table next to us must've been locals because she hung out and chatted and asked about things going on with them. The corned beef hash had barely any corn beef on it so it ended up being more like a plate of hash browns with two eggs on top. Very bland and under seasoned. The corned beef itself was also disappointing. Looks pretty cheap on paper but for what you get not worth it. Cute place in a little cute town but ultimately wouldn't eat here again. read more

Glad I came across this place for breakfast. We phoned in our order & I'm glad we did. There was a nice amount of people waiting outside & inside. The restaurant itself is small. Prices were a little higher than I would have liked for the amount of food. Nonetheless, it was delicious! I ordered the eggs Benny. Hats off to the chef because my eggs were cooked to perfection!! After spending the day climbing the dunes & hiking the trails, Pegtown Station was a life saver! There were very few places open but that seemed to work out in my favor because I ended up with the best vegetable pizza I have ever had!!!! The flavor was delicious and there was so much topping. I would return just for that, but the other items that were ordered (wings & a cinnamon roll) were also very good. The staff were super friendly and the prices were great. I recently placed a takeout order from Pegtown on a not too busy Thursday evening. The order only had two entrees and was ready in about twenty minutes. However, after I picked up the order and drove home (10 miles round trip), I realized I only had half of what I ordered and they sent another patron's dinner with me. I called to notify and see what options there were to correct and the customer service skills of the cashier (who answered the phone) were atrocious. She told me to just eat the wrong meal unless I wanted to drive all the way back. I told her I couldn't eat what was sent and that I would need to come back. Upon my return, I faced a manager that didn't apologize or say a word with the exception of asking if I paid cash or card. I had to argue for a refund, received cold and inedible food and overall had an awful experience. I've never felt less important as a customer. I won't be back and neither will any of the neighbors I met up with and told about the experience either. read more

I eat at Pegtown 3-4 times a month. Hands down, it is the best breakfast in the county. Mary and Syd will do whatever you want. No food service stuff here. I'm not a corn beef hash guy but their's is homemade and top shelf. Bacon is outstanding. You may have to wait, especially at breakfast, but tables turn fast and it's worth it. Cooks are outstanding and speedy. A hidden gem. read more

This place was awesome. Came in on a Sunday morning around 11 and the place was 90% full. We were seated at the last open table and given water and offered coffee immediately. Staff was very friendly and provided recommendations. I ended up ordering the southwestern burrito and it was excellent. Not spicy enough for my taste so I doused it in a bit of hot sauce, but the flavor was great and the food was really fresh. Price is definitely reasonable and portions are solid. I love the local vibe of this place, living in Chicago there are a lot of "local" places, but not quite like this little place in maple city. We loved our breakfast at Pegtown Station. Filled up our tank at the gas station nearby and stopped for quick bite before driving back to Detroit. Our waitress was great - full of truisms and phrases, funny and sweet, but efficient, speedy, and matter-of-fact. Definitely reminded me of family. They have the best corned beef hash I have ever eaten. I have had a lot of corn beef hash at a lot of different places- and Pegtown's is hands down the best. They have coffee, fresh juice, and ala carte whatever you might want as far as standard breakfast fare. They have greats sub sandwiches, amazing pizza, and a fantastic taco salad. This place is seriously one of the best places I've eaten, and return here as often as I can. It's one of those places that you see in movies or tv shows of small-town restaurants where the food is made from scratch and is always delicious. Pegtown is the best place to get breakfast around. Let's start with the name, which I was curious about. Apparently Maple CIty once had a shoe peg factory, hence the name Peg Town. Shoe pegs are not commonly used anymore, so the factory no longer exists. My girlfriend's family has a place just outside of town and I have visited Pegtown several times, for both breakfast and for carryout dinner. I have not once been disappointed. The restaurant is one of the few buildings in the small town of Maple City. It's a place where a lot of locals go to eat. At breakfast, this place can be packed with people, both locals and visitors. Every time I have been there, I end up in a conversation with locals, which are always extremely friendly. The wait staff is great and the food is excellent. I have had quite a few different breakfast menu items and they have all been great. For dinner, I have had some of their sandwiches and also the pizza. The pizza is a bit on the greasy side, but after a few blots with paper towel, it's just the way I like it. For good food, Pegtown is #1 in Maple City. Yes, there are really two options, but this is the better of the two as far as food goes. read more

Pegtown is a legit place that's kind of in the middle of nowhere in Maple City. Best choice would be to go here on the way to the Dunes or TC or the peninsula. It's a smaller spot, so having large groups could take a longer time. With two or four, the wait shouldn't be too bad on the weekends, but there will likely be one. Coffee from Leelalanu Roasters can't be beat and the same goes for the food. Corned Beef Hash is a good place to go, but I'm sure everything else on the menu is spot on.
