Cherry Republic is a must-stop every time we're in town. The samples are always great, but the friendly, helpful staff are most notable. We always leave with a bag filled with our favorites and something new to try. We have given the gift boxes for holiday gifts in the past - they are beautifully packaged. We've also ordered online and shipped things to family (and restocked our faves when we can't get there in person). We've eaten at the adjacent restaurant, and always have a great experience. The cherry chicken salad is my fave! The ice cream is fantastic, too - we often stop multiple times during our vacation week. The vanilla cherry twist is my favorite (it was not available this year - so sad!!), but all of the cherry flavors are great. read more

Not the best experience at Cherry Republic. They were out of quite a few beers when we visited, as well as several menu items. We know it had been a busy weekend, but it was still a little disappointing. We ended up ordering the fries and pulled pork sliders. Both were just okay. Unfortunately, the fries came out ice cold. We didn't send them back, but we barely touched them. Our server was also difficult to track down, and our drinks were left empty for most of the meal. That definitely took away from the overall experience. That said, this won't be our last visit. We'll give Cherry Republic another try, but unfortunately, this visit just wasn't great. read more

The bulk of my criticism comes from what appears to be an oversell on the "cherry" part of their food. The "Loaded Lug", "cherry bomb ranch", and the basket of fries with the "cherry BBQ spice" all disappointed in terms of their cherry flavor. The food was otherwise tasty, but we were left confused about the cherry part. The ice cream on the other hand is a notch up, as long as you're into a sweet cherry taste. Would highly recommend getting a scoop or two (pictured), especially for the price (the second scoop is only like $0.40 more!). Overall, beautiful property and a lively atmosphere, but just disappointed with the food. read more

It was raining hard when we arrived!! I have to say, my expectations for the main Cherry Republic were higher. We actually think the Traverse City store is the prettiest! But this one does have more buildings. The food was really good! Had a pulled pork sandwich that came with chips. I also tried the cherry coffee (it was ok. I wish it was sweet on its own because I think the cream I used hurt my stomach). Loved that they had a changing table in the bathroom! Their decor is really cute and they have many beautiful flowers! We purchased cherry jam and got our 2nd Cherry Republic passport stamp! read more

This location is super cool, broken up into separate shops with a large, pretty outdoor seating area. The wine flight was great - we enjoyed that outside. I don't remember the name of the bartender that served us, but she was pleasant and funny. read more

We have been going to Cherry Republic for lunch and dinner during our annual trip to Glen Arbor since it first opened. We love everything about it -- the charm, the garden, the shop with its free samples, all the products, the delicious menu, the ice cream. But this year we were extremely frustrated. We went twice, and both times we had to wait 30-45 minutes for a table, and then another hour for our food to arrive. They blamed it on the mac and cheese! This is completely unacceptable. I really want to eat there every time I am in town, but I can't take my family there with kids if the experience is so slow. Please fix this, Cherry Republic! I can't imagine life without your pulled pork sandwiches, BBQ fries and delicious salads. read more

Very fun to see the original Cherry Republic! And it's really like a whole little campus! Feels very campgrounds like, with little buildings and trailers throughout for retail, samples (classic Cherry Republic), pub style food and drink, ice cream and desserts! Sipping on beer really hit the spot here after a nearby hike, followed by ice cream (one after the other, not together haha). Also their fun signage throughout is just full of personality. I especially enjoyed the cheeky nods to another fruit "republic" that shall not be named :). read more

Outside is available if you can get a table - inside more conventional. Tried the burger with cherry bacon and the whitefish soup, as well as one of the wraps. One of the servers was training and forgot to ask how done for the burger; as well, brought out the soup with the rest of the food rather than first. Soup was ok but burger was meh; wrap was also ok. Better off to stick with CR with their usual rather than extending out to a full meal. read more

Cherry Republic - Glen Arbor, MI Visited: July 2025 Cherry Republic is just one of those places that feels like Northern Michigan. The energy is upbeat, the branding is everywhere (in a fun way), and the whole place has a really welcoming vibe. I especially liked the outdoor areas and how walkable and friendly it was -- a great place to explore with family or friends. They've got a cool selection of cherry-themed stuff, and the store setup makes it fun to browse even if you're not buying much. Definitely worth a stop if you're in the area -- even just to look around, take pictures, and enjoy the laid-back Michigan atmosphere. read more

Stopped here for lunch, and both my husband and I ordered burgers cooked medium. The server told us, "All burgers are cooked the same way," which I've never heard at a restaurant before. That should have been a red flag, but we decided to give it a try anyway. Unfortunately, it was the worst burger I've ever had. Not even exaggerating. It was extremely dry, had no flavor, and it gave all indications that it has been microwaved. The toasted bun was also dry, which didn't help. I only managed a few bites, and even though I was hungry, I couldn't finish it. For an $18 burger (with fries an additional $4), it should have at least been somewhat decent. Maybe it's an end-of-season thing where they've stopped caring, but overall, it was very disappointing. read more

So disappointed bought a pie from here and opened it a day later to find the whole thing molded. The sell by date was still a few days away.

Well established vendor nothing new. Their sales method is to offer free samples. Cherry salsa cherry mix cherry this cherry that. Generally good. Great for Christmas gifts for office coworkers. read more

I loved this location of Cherry Republic, its rustic feel welcoming and appropriate for the location. I am originally from Michigan and now live in Florida so anytime I can get authentic Michigan products I take advantage. I love that you are able to sample many of the products, candies, sauces and jams all made from local cherries. I especially enjoyed the cherry barbecue sauce and the blood orange jam. Had heard a lot about Cherry republic. This is most definitely the place to go for cherries. Anything you can think of. Kind of spread out and a bit confusing. There is a restaurant, then shops, then a tasting room. The shop was very small, and overly crowded. I was over stimulated so had to quickly exit. Nothing purchased. We did do a wine tasting, which had two servers working. Neither were too friendly. Wine was decent, but nothing to rave about. Would have liked to take my time in the shop without feeling like it was a Black Friday stampede. read more

Fun spot to stop at for food, souvenirs or wine. We stopped by around lunch but had a heavy breakfast and didn't eat. I wish that I had planned that better and we would have been able to enjoy lunch. There are multiple cherry republics in Michigan but this one has multiple buildings, like its own little town. The store is similar to that of cherry republic stores in other towns: a bonanza of delectable free samples of everything cherry! Cherry candies, cherries covered in chocolate, cherry salsas, cherry preserves, cherry horseradish, etc. Each has a little station of 3 types of candy or 3 types of salsa, etc., many with little crackers or chips for dipping. And all is delicious! Plus, the walls are lined with even more varieties, plus cherry sodas, cherry ginger ales, cherry wines. We sampled one (or two!) of everything and then bought far more than we'd expected because everything was so good! Others were filling their hands with candies and no employee seemed to mind. The cashier was friendly and helpful, letting us know if we went to their winery next door, they'd exchange the warm soda for a cold one. We did , and sat on the picnic tables, sipping our sodas, listening to the live music for their restaurant. Definitely worth stopping by just for the experience , but be prepared to want to buy lots of cherry goods! read more

This place is a cherry-lovers dream and a complete sensory overload (in all the best ways). It looks like they have high school and college kids working during the summer and they are quick, friendly and efficient. We tried a few varieties of their beer and wine with different levels of cherry influence and taste, and loved them all - including the alcohol free cherry lemonade. The serano burger was good, but since they didn't ask your cooking preference I'm assuming they cook them all the same, which was a little too close to well done. That said, the flavor was great. We really enjoyed the salad that came with candied nuts, dried cherries and of course, cherry balsamic. Make sure to hit the store for some cherry goodies like pie filling, cherry salsa, chocolate covered cherries among many others. And the cherry crumble pie with cherry/vanilla soft serve twist was to die for. read more

I love this cherry republic, it's really more like a little compound with the shop, winery and restaurant. It is such a beautiful area with lots of outdoor seating, twinkle lights and flowers. The service is always super friendly and surprisingly quick. The chicken salad was pretty standard, it was just ok. The grilled cheese was amazing though- the cherry fig jam made it the perfect salty/sweet combination (my photo does not do it justice at all). The combo of cheese was delicious and gooey. I also recommend getting a fresh white chocolate chip boomchucka cookie for dessert (not the plastic wrapped ones) and a cherry lemonade. It is always really fun to taste test the new and old favorite products in their shop and do some wine/soda tasting as well. Don't miss this spot if you're in the area! read more

We love Cherry Republic and thrilled that samples are back. We decided to have lunch here. This place isn't just a restaurant, and it's not only a wine tasting counter: It's an entire complex of those plus a beer garden, an outdoor patio and a meandering little garden -- and even another building I forgotten the purpose of! It's more like a small city-state in tiny Glen Arbor; no wonder it's called The Cherry Republic! On a sunny September day it was perfect to enjoy a grilled cheese sandwich, sunshine, fries and a cherry lemonade for dinner between my GF and I. First off, the service was superb and our server was pleasantly informative and helpful. I only wish she would have warned us our "shareable bites" basket of cherry BBQ seasoned fries (plus amazingly delicious beer cheese dip addition) could feed four starving teenagers an entire meal! I expected less than two man-fists worth, but it took up almost the space of a rotisserie chicken. The seasoning was very good, but with my taste buds (sadly, more like acquaintances, certainly not good friends), I could taste no cherry -- but still thoroughly enjoyed it. Bet it's fantastic on ribs! They probably have ribs rubbed with it, or should, but the menu was plentiful and our appetites were smallish. The aforementioned beer cheese was tasty, gooey, perfectly salty and cheesy with no hint of pale ale bitterness which I do not like. We ordered another small dipping bowl at the very fair price of $2 to take with so we could reheat the fries, an unprecedented move that I only pray works! The last item was the pièce de resistance though. A both subtly and boldly flavorful grilled cheese sandwich of Muenster and white cheddar topped by (and grilled upon) a fairly thick bed of real Parmesan flakes, "finished" (inside -- didn't expect that) with a very slightly sweet cherry fig jam. I could eat this every week (although my GF wasn't that fond of the jam)! When ordering again I would push further (because the server denied it was possible) to demand the cherry fig spread be put in a side container to add or dip as desired. Will return ASAP to further and more deeply explore this tiny nation, but it may be a while coming from the Detroit area. read more

Cherry Republic is more than a restaurant in a town that's become a popular vacation spot. It's a cherry-filled campus with a restaurant, bar, ice cream parlor, tasting room, store and live music. My family of three had dinner here in July 2021 and had a great experience. Here's why: 1) Space: It's a little campus full of wood buildings, gardens and places to sit. We went on a Friday evening around 6:30 p.m. and got an outdoor table right away. It was a little far from the live music, but still close enough to hear it. 2) Food: The menu incorporates cherry in everything. The burger has cherry marmalade on it. Cherries are in their famous chicken salad sandwich. They even have a kids menu with cherries on the menu. Our four-year-old daughter really enjoyed her mac and cheese. My burger and my wife's chicken salad sandwich were tasty, but both were dry and without the cherries, both would be bland. 3) Drink: They have a generous drink menu with lots of cherry-inspired drinks. They have cherry wine, cherry cider and even cherry sangria. (Get the cherry sangria slushee- it's nice and tart.) 4) Service: It's friendly as you'd expect in a small Midwest town. There are QR codes on tables making ordering efficient. The food comes out pretty fast! 5) Price: Coming from an expensive East Coast city, the prices are a steal. My family of three had dinner and several drinks and our bill was $65 after a generous tip! read more

The original Cherry Republic! It was quite the treat for my Wolverine heart to finally be able to visit the original location after all those years on Michigan's campus, stopping in to Cherry Republic whenever I wanted a little bite. I have such fond memories going with my friends to Cherry Republic and excited to see what new samples are out to try. It's such a quintessential Michigan thing to have a whole entire store dedicated to anything cherry-related. Sadly, during the age of the pandemic when I came to this original Cherry Republic location in cute, quaint Glen Arbor, the samples weren't out for us to try. But imagine my surprise though when I get here and find it's not just one Cherry Republic building, but a SERIES of at least 3 that I could tell?? There's the Cherry Republic showroom with all the products they offer AND a Cherry Republic restaurant! The third building in the back I couldn't tell what the functionality of it was, but they ALSO had a whole courtyard in which you could sit and enjoy your meal! It was so exciting! Of course everything on their food and drink menu is also cherry-related and utilizing some of the products they sell in their store. I was absolutely delighted and excited to try their stuff out! We got their chicken lettuce cups (of course with cherries in the mix) as an appetizer and then I got a pulled pork sandwich (of course with cherry BBQ sauce) as my main. Everything was delicious and I ended up ordering some of their chicken salad to go (of course with cherries in the chicken salad as well). It was delicious when I finally snacked on it a day or two after! Their cherry products are truly the best and the ambiance of sitting outside in their courtyard was wonderful too! We went during an off hour so we were the only ones there, but I can tell this place gets popping when the food rush & tourist season comes in! :) I am so glad I got to experience the OG Cherry Republic! :) read more

We stopped for lunch. They have a nice patio, some shade some sun with a mix of picnic tables and regular tables. We ordered inside at the bar. We had the pulled pork sliders and the cherry chicken salad on greens. The sliders were good, served on sliced French bread and heavily sauced. The chicken salad was just okay. Basic chicken salad over greens with some dried cherries sprinkled in. Not what I was expecting. They make their own soda and have about 8 flavors, all cherry related. I had the cherry cola. It was nice. They also have a lot of beer on tap, many cherry infused. My husband had a decent IPA. Cute little place with beautiful gardens out front. read more

As part of our a day trip to Sleeping Bear Dunes, we decided to make a stop at Cherry Republic in Glen Arbor. Of all the places I could have gone, I am glad we lunched at Cherry Republic for a unique and fun dining experience. Due to COVID-19, you now order at the restaurant and wait outside for your order. Members of staff will walk around campus with your order. There are separate buildings for ordering food, shopping for fun cherry-inspired foods, and wine tasting. Sadly, there's no soda tasting but they're still worth trying out. The outdoor seating is spaced according to new regulations and members of staff are wearing face masks. Also, face masks are required when entering any of the buildings. The food was good and we felt assured that we could have an enjoyable and safe dining experience. Our favorite was the spareribs, prepared with a delicious BBQ spire rub and Smokey Cherry Slow cooler sauce. Also, the Cherry Lime Soda Pop and Black Cherry Cream Soda was chugged down real fast. We couldn't get enough of it. Just a word of warning, foodies will be tempted to spend a lot of money here. Their Cherry products are delicious-looking and one could fill an entire shopping basket in seconds. read more

So good I came back twice! Although there are other cute places in Glen Arbor, I ate at Cherry Republic on both of my visits to town. The first time I had the chowder and salad. The second time, the black bean burger with fries and a side salad. Both meals were excellent! Also, the cherry wine was crisp and delicious. There are tons of tables outside (make sure to walk around the side and back for more, not just what you see near the front entrance). On the second visit, there was even live music with a fun little band adding to the ambiance. Make sure to check out the tasting room as well, and the huge shop that sells all the cherry candy, jams, spreads, dried cherry nut mixes, and cherry chocolates you could ever dream of. Well, I am at somewhat of a disadvantage in reviewing this place... I am not a fan of cherries. But my wife is... so we have been eaten here a couple of times in the last few months. Luckily, while cherry is a featured flavor on the menu, there are some non-cherry foods. My favorite is the whitefish chowder. And the pulled pork sliders with a side of fries. And of course, my wife has really liked all the cherry-themed meals she has gotten, including the cherry pie! Of course it helps that we have gotten great service here. They continue to have carry-out in the age of COVID which currently means no indoor dining.
