I have no intention to wait for half hour in a parking lot especially that I have some plans for after the session. So I cancelled and she sent me another text to say we would not be a good fit as she is very flexible with the appointments! I guess people time is of no concern to her. I don't know how good she is but no one is good enough to disrespect other people' schedule. I find this extremely rude.

As a patient with chronic neck and back pain, I have sampled quite a few massage therapists over…read morethe years and Julia is probably the best one I've ever seen. I was able to get an appointment with her within the week, and she usually responds quite promptly to texts. Julia's place and her attitude are both no-frills. She asked me in which area I was feeling pain, and took over all the rest. You can tell from the way she treats your body that she knows exactly what she is doing - somehow, she manages to work at the spots that you didn't even know were sore! I love going to Julia because it feels as if I go in with a body that is all twisted and crooked and she slowly straightens every piece of it out. She is absolutely amazing and has a true gift. Julia is also funny, friendly and straightforward, and I feel cared for and better after each visit with her.

I had been searching for a good massage therapist for a few years now, ever since a friend of mine…read morewhom I had been going to retired. I had tried several places around town and would pretty much always end up with the same results; I'd feel better for a few hours or maybe a day if I was lucky. The problems seemed consistent no matter where I went. The therapists would always have either too soft of pressure or painfully inconsistent pressure as they struggled through their set list of pre rehearsed strokes. I felt like I had finally given up when a friend of mine called me to ask for a ride home from a massage appointment he was finishing up at. I asked him about the therapist and he had a lot of good things to say about Holly. Skeptic as always, but still very open minded and willing to give it a chance I called and made my first appointment. From the moment I entered the clean, well-kept office I had positive feelings about it. Holly greeted me with her warm smile and an energetic, yet relaxing positive attitude. Right away you could tell she had an enthusiastic passion for her profession and was here because she enjoyed it and not just because it was her job. Much to my surprise after entering the massage room instead of the usual 60 second check list about prior massages/medical history she actually talked in great detail about what I wanted to get out of the session and what kinds of things were causing me trouble and pain and needed to be worked on. Her responses were incredibly intelligent, while not talking over my head or making up facts to sound more impressive, and was able to anticipate a lot of the problems I've been having based solely on my responses to her questions. The massage went great. Her pressure was firm, while not being painful and even better she was always amazingly consistent with it. Every muscle seemed to receive the same amount of pressure. Instead of just rehearsing a series of practiced moves on my back for an hour I felt as if she had tailored the massage specifically to my needs and attacked problems head on instead of simply massaging around until the session timer beeped so she could punch out her time card and go home. It was easy to see after the first session that Holly was a rare find in any profession, but as a massage therapist she truly goes above and beyond to help people who need it. Amazingly, the usual "couple hours of feeling better" had turned into several days. I don't have any serious medical conditions to the point that I severely need the massage, but I do have horrible posture and I've played guitar in a band for years now and over that time the task of wearing a 10 pound Les Paul over my shoulder every day has caused me a lot of shoulder and back pain. I have now been receiving massage from Holly consistently for a little over a month or so and in that time my posture has improved tremendously. I'm able to stand up straighter and my shoulders don't hunch forward nearly as much. I never ever leave a session feeling like she left something behind to work on next time to keep me coming back in. My mother, who had somewhat recently broken her arm and has been having serious tissue damage in her arm and shoulder from the accident, has also been seeing Holly on a regular basis now. She also has nothing but great things to say about her experiences as well and has found major improvement in her arm's mobility since working with Holly. Another issue I've had with other places I've gone to in the past is that many of them almost seem like they're trying to book me for my next seven appointments the moment I walk through the front door for the first. I have never felt like Holly is trying to pull a salesperson-like pitch on me just to get me to come back next time. She is serious about being there to help and not just out to make an extra buck off someone or sell you something extra that you don't need. Whether you're a first timer or experienced massage goer, just needing to relax or in serious need of good therapeutic massage; I seriously cannot recommend Holly enough. Her knowledge, skill and experience as well as her calm, caring and therapeutic demeanor will leave you hooked after your first session.

I go for an hour massage and 30 minute reflexology. She is straighforward and not too talkative, I want to enjoy my massage in silence. The first time, you fill out paperwork and show your Kaiser card to get your discount. She'll ask of any injuries and she takes the time to find out about you and what you like and don't like in a massage. I have had a cold/allergies and she has used peppermint or eucalyptus oil on a cloth when I was facing down, so my sinus' could clear, so I could breathe face down. She rents her space out to other therapists, there are two massage rooms in her small studio and a small desk to book your next appointment. Since it is small, you wait outside for your appt. where she has some plastic patio chairs set up. She uses a hand held, very strong vibrating machine to relax you then starts in with the massage. I find her medium strength, which I like but she can be much stronger. I usually book a week or two before, after work time but she has slipped me in, in a couple days notice. She has been able to get me in when I have requested her, usually a Monday around 5pm, after a hectic weekend. She is very well priced with the Healthy Roads discount for the Los Altos/Palo Alto area. Her studio is located in a woodsy, wooden office building, on the first floor, lots of tiny offices and companies. Pass the ARCO station on the right, then you enter the parking lot from San Antonio on the right side, go to the right side of the building, this is where her office is located.

The rest of the time, her touch was relatively smooth, firm and precise and I relaxed instantly and then fell asleep in the process. She must have felt my energy because as soon as we got the pleasantries out of the way, she just kept quiet and got to work. I work out a lot and she must have felt that my body was just too tight and maybe too tired. She loosened my muscles without causing me pain and I really appreciated that. I typically like deep tissue massages but there are also certain situations when I just needed to relax and give my body a break. She totally gave me that. She did say that she could have gone deeper but possibly not on this one. I slept like a baby. I was very disappointment that it had to end. To wake me up, she went back to her very light touches again. So the ending wasn't too drastic and I did have a very relaxing time. Will definitely go to Nahanni again. Her touches were very healing to my body and definitely to my soul....
