Usually I would not say anything but I ordered the special and it consisted of the server shooting about 4 pumps of the syrup then a splash of half and half and then the cold brew poured on top and he didn't mix any of it. So I had somegalf and half with cold brew, bit hae but the bottom of my cup was coated in in the syrup so my last few sips were all sweet and sugary. read more

I usually receive amazing service at this location. I maybe caught this employee on a bad day because it was apparent that she was upset at my daughter's indecisiveness, among other things. I work in customer service & know that no matter what, the customer should never know that you're having a rough day. She was an older lady, so I think she's just done. I must admit that my go-to coffee is Peet's. There's a good reason for that. Attention, starbuckers, here's a tip: Peet's used to roast the beans for starbucks when they were a wee baby little company. Peet's puts two awesome shots of espresso in their small latte (that's about 75¢ more at starbucks which only puts one shot in the small). If you want hot milk that has an essence of espresso, starbucks is fine. If you're here for the espresso kick, this is your new go-to coffee house. Free wifi, fast service, and in this particularly fave Peet's of mine, hot sandwiches, too. read more

Sorry Starbucks, Peet's is my soulmate. I just moved to the La Cumbre area and am ecstatic to have Peet's be my closest coffee shop! Hands down the best matcha latte in town. The employees are always friendly and professional, but most importantly, extremely competent baristas. The food is excellent (love me some turkey sausage breakfast burritos) and the aesthetic is posh and open. Did I mention they have a coffee bean bar?! Love my Peet's! read more

The staff here are most excellent! The coffee here is standard chain coffee shop coffee. Nothing wild but it's always better than any Starbucks in the area and a lot cozier. I am a huge fan of Peets, usually. This particular store has some employees who have no clue about the concept of customer service. The words that come to mind to describe the customer service was unhelpful and rude. I've always had very good experiences with the other Peets store on State Street in Downtown Santa Barbara but sadly they've closed. Alternate places for good coffee are The Daily Grind (there are two on De La Vina), as well as the Handlebar coffeeshop and The French Press Coffee shop. Sorry to say this about this particular Peets location. They are usually great. read more

I love Peet's at La Cumbre! The baristas make great espresso drinks; they'll happily make substitutions (more hot water and less espresso in an Americano, for example). They will also make off-menu items that are no longer in season if they have still have the syrup or mix on hand. They offer a good variety of fresh baked goods. This is a popular location, so finding a table is sometimes tricky. read more

But 1 in three times my vanilla latte tastes burnt or they put too much vanilla in it or I've asked for oat milk but it tastes like whole milk.@?! Coffee is excellent and the people are friendly. I've been a Peet's fan for a long time, and I'm glad to be living near one again after my recent move. It makes me nostalgic for my years in the Bay Area. The Internet service, however, is awful. It is slow (I'll upload a few pictures demonstrating this in a bit), and requires a password that's only valid for an hour. Getting another hour's worth of Internet service requires buying another drink (hence my marking of the wi-fi as "paid" on the survey). I came in and bought two drinks at once, thinking that I'd spare the cashier the trouble of running my credit card twice -- only to discover that the policy, apparently, is one hour per time opening the register for a customer, not one hour per drink. Their router also blocks access to web sites with no apparent rhyme or reason. I discovered this by trying to go to Yelp.com and discovering that it's blocked. (For fuck's sake, why? What better way is there to motivate bad Yelp reviews then by making me go elsewhere to write the review? And who knows what other sites are blocked?) The drinks and pastries are genuinely delicious, but I think that I'll be going to the nearby Starbucks in the future. I like their coffee and food a lot less, but at least they don't patronize me by making random decisions about what sites I'm allowed to visit. read more

Came here to hang out with a friend before dinner on a Saturday night. Usually, I would order an Iced Chai Latte but that night I wanted a hot one. Bad idea. The drink was a bit watered down for my taste. Somehow I wasn't able to taste the Chai tea and was a bit disappointed but didn't ask them to re-do my order =/. The staff were friendly. The place was cleaned and neat. The restrooms are located outside, behind the store so I got a bit lost because my friend gave me the wrong directions.....failed. Other than that, this place has a nice atmosphere. It's a good place to hang out with friends and catch up over a cup of coffee/tea. =] read more

I LOVE PEET'S! One of my first life memories is of Peet's in Berkeley, so it is inevitable that I am a " Peetnik". It really is the best, most masterfully roasted coffee. Yes, they have tea too, excellent espresso, and unique signature beverages like "cold brew black tie" and a "Havana Cappuccino". But it is always the coffee for me....I can always can depend on a cup of dark, rich, hot, strong, divine coffee here. Treats are scrumptious, refined, and unique: Kouign Amann tarts, big cookies, pastries, brownies, sweet breads, and savory quiches and cheesy sandwiches. Cool, very nice, and engaging baristas. In SB, I really miss the downtown Peet's. But I will go out of my way to come to this location (on Upper State, by 5 Points shopping center). It is classic Peet's: the coffee bean scent, the dark wood counter, and a distinct elegance. Many small tables that are perfect for meetings and intimate coffee chats. Nice coffee bar for your sips. Yes, there are plug-ins and wifi, so it is great for studying. Bathroom is always clean, very pleasant and consistent with atmosphere of old world charm ( framed ethnic rugs..) . Plenty of parking (in the back). Open 5 am to 7 pm every day. read more

The coffee here is just so much better than the national chain around the corner (around pretty much any corner) I guess this is a chain too but with so few links it just doesn't feel like one. I've been meaning to write an update about my experience with Peet's Coffee & Tea. Being new to Yelp, I wasn't sure who would be reading my post. Still, since I love writing and I love food, I decided to take a stab at it and give my honest opinion. First of all, I misspelled the word "foul" in my last post, it's been bugging me! There. I got it off my chest! Okay, here's why I upped the stars for Peet's: Shortly after writing the review (4 days to be exact) I was contacted by Peet's and was mailed a few gift cards for complimentary coffee and drinks. There was a hand written note and I appreciate them going the extra mile to make up for my negative experience. I have to admit I haven't gone back to Peet's yet (hence why I'm holding back 1 of the stars), but the entire customer service experience has been a positive one. I was really pleasantly surprised and am glad that they will relay my message to the store. One of these days I'm going to be muster up enough courage to order another chai tea latte, or I may just cop out and get a skinny decaf mocha! Either way, it's on the house, so it's a win all around! I'm glad I can check them out again. read more

I was born in Seattle, and I still think this is the best damn coffeehouse around. And not only is the coffee good, but so are the tea drinks. Their iced chai latte is the only one I've had that actually tastes like chai tea and not some sugary chai-like powder a la (I hate to say it) Java Jones. Growing up in the Bay Area, I will always choose Peet's over everything else. I normally go to Starbucks to study because it's closer to me, but after today, I will drive the extra couple of miles. The girls here are extremely sweet, very knowledgeable about the different coffees, promotions, and take their time making drinks, without taking too long, of course. They close at 10 which is fair for Santa Barbara and although there isn't much indoor seating, it's actually fine because anymore, and it would be packed and loud....like Starbucks. First, the coffee is just the best. None of that bitter, acidic or gritty tasting stuff that you find in some of the other chains. Even the iced coffee is smooth flavored. If you don't like coffee, their teas are really nice. The selection is pretty good compared to most coffee places. The food is okay, some choices better than others and it's a shame they don't have a way to warm up their croissants. But what really makes this one of my favorite places to get coffee when I'm downtown is the customer service. The people who work here are not just friendly, they will go out of their way to make a special drink for you if you can't have something in the ingredients, they will improvise and try whatever they can to help you without making you feel like it's not worth their effort or that you're bothering them. I have spent a lot of time studying here. The drinks are always good and the atmosphere is awesome. It would be better if there were more places to sit outside (there is only one outdoor table) but there is plenty of indoor seating. I have brought my puppy several times and never had a problem. The "regulars" are an interesting group of people as well. They have free wi-fi with a purchase. You get a code that lasts for a couple hours. On the flip side, the customer service is AWFUL. Almost every time I have come I end up waiting at the counter while 3 people stand behind the bar and chit chat, clean, or flip through their cell phone, without even so much as saying, "be with you in a moment." One time I stood at the bar for more than ten minutes waiting for someone to come take my order. I understand being busy but not addressing your customers is rude. I eventually convinced the person I was meeting there to meet at a local coffee shop instead. I will never go here again. read more

Peet's is the best coffee, ever! I spend years trying to find the best chain coffee (growing and roasting it wasn't an option) and I find this about 15 years ago. There is an interesting history to Peet's: The founder of Peet's, Alfred, sold it to the guy to founded StarBucks. He and his partner split because he wanted to focus on quality while his partner wanted to expand, expand, expand. Anyway, my wife used to work as a barista, so please remember they aren't making a ton of money and it's just a cup of coffee, not a steak dinner. Be polite, tip, and don't give your server death threats for making your latte' too strong. The coffee is still roasted by master roasters, and they use sustainable growing methods and profit sharing partnerships. I recommend Sumatra and my wife likes the Garuda blend. Prior to going public you NEVER saw sweet or flavored Latte's. The accountants and share holders (who probably drink Starbuck's) changed that. However, the coffee tasks the same and you can't beat their cappuccino. read more

The baristas here have the best training... other places have college kids who don't understand coffee so how are they going to make a good cup? I am a Peet's coffee fan. The coffee was excellent, no complaints there. Victoria/cashier there today was a bit rude. We Walked in and asked for a bathroom, which was out of order. We were standing in front of a register waiting to order when other customers came in. She immediately went to the other register to take their order. We were a bit dumbfounded, then walked to get in line. When she realized we wanted to order, she simply moved on (didn't apologize for disregarding us). Benefit of the doubt, she assumed we were only there to use the bathroom. It seemed her shift was almost over since she left when we were eating/drinking what we ordered. So I'll assume she was just trying to leave... I get it. Her overall attitude made us uncomfortable, and other customers noticed. Constructive criticism, just be polite, Victoria. read more

I've come here many times and honestly have always felt like such a burden when coming here. Staff is always so unfriendly, except for John and Antares, and don't seem to know what customer service is. I definitely think you have to be a reg to get the politeness or customer service mentioned in other reviews because I personally have never felt welcomed here like I do at Starbucks, Dunkins' or even coffee bean except when dealing with those workers mentioned. Great, friendly staff always welcomed each person as they came in. Quick service and wasn't ever too busy which made it a great place to get work done from. Plus it's on the quieter side so you can really focus and don't necessarily have to use headphones to block out the music or other people there. Had a great earl grey tea latte and blueberry muffin. Iced tea would've been amazing if I didn't have a layer of loose leaf tea at the bottom of the drink. read more

before: what can i say - simply the BEST coffee in SB. just wish they had more study area so i can spend the whole day smelling their delicious coffee... -- now: i sadly take off two stars off my favorte coffee spot in town. to be fair, i'd like to believe that it was just today (SUNDAY afternoon) that the place was run by young teenagers. this is all fine. but the girl used ROTTEN MILK for my iced-nonfat-latte. i told them (nicely) that the milk had gone bad, but the kids were rude and inattentive. instead of throwing away the FOUL SMELLING/TASTING milk, she used the SAME milk with an extra shot of espresso!! read more

I've always loved Peets Coffee----this location was extremely convenient and easy to find....within walking distance from our hotel, but I just didn't give that walking part a shot LOL....We found it on our way to visiting the Arts museum across the street on State Street...I was particularly looking for a Peets b/c I still had left over gift cards from last year, so I wanted to finish using them. (I don't particularly live close to a Peets where I live, but thanks to this Peets in Santa Barbara, I was able to stay awake during the morning hrs after ordering my favorite English Breakfast Tea....) I love their coffee too, but that Memorial weekend (May 29-30th), I felt like drinking tea----I still have a left-over tea bag they gave me not used.....they also have a frequent sipper card (for cold drinks only) though I stocked up two pieces of these cards just in case.....These expire sometime in July/2011..... If you're visiting Santa Barbara, CA. and love Peets' Coffee, please don't hestitate and hit this particular branch when you pass by it!!! Every time I stepped in, there was already a line going.....It's very easy to find for sure!!! (No hassle except for parking, so pls. make sure u get dropped off and picked up by a friend....) Starbucks is ok. Daily grind(s) are so-so. French Press is the best in town. Peet's is a close 3rd behind Handlebar. That's just fact people! The place is good, nice AC and the music they play is decent but a little loud. It's clean and new. Daily grind on mission is hot and not new, so this place definitely has it's perks!! My fav is the machiato with almond milk. This place is worth stopping by. It's at five points across from golds. Parking is in the back. read more
