I'm not from town but I travel through frequently so I have been trying to slowly test out all the local coffee shops, and after about 6 different ones in the area this is my new #1!! I got the matcha and it's absolutely supreme. Fresh, powder matcha made with genuine matcha tools. It was the best matcha of my entire life (and I live off matcha). The environment is SO cozy and inviting, with an atmosphere that is perfect for bringing your laptop to chill. The staff is very friendly and fun, as our barista was dressed in Patrick-star (from SpongeBob) attire just for ha-ha's. Stopped by for an afternoon coffee during our drive to Goleta. We had planned to stop by Kin, but their line was ridiculous so we decided to try Lighthouse instead. Welcoming coffee shop inside with a wide variety of drink and food options. Their drinks are average. Grabbed a matcha latte - it was good but nothing special. I'd grab a drink here if I was in the area and needed a caffeine fix, but they wouldn't be my number one destination choice. That being said, I gave them a 4 because their outdoor patio area was really enjoyable. They got us each item except a muffin we had ordered for my niece. Our bag was sealed when it was ready. We assumed all was good like anyone would. Unfortunately we didn't notice till we got to the beach that it was missing. Tried calling not once but twice and the phone just rang/no pick up. Bella who works here is literally the sweetest. Came in on Mother's Day with my mom, and they had a buy one get one drink deal for moms! I think it's super sweet that a small business does something like that. Places like starbucks are way too cheap to do that and only care about the money. This place has gone downhill a bit since they opened. I went yesterday and three staff were standing behind the counter. The lady that took our order was not friendly at all. Once we finished ordering, one of the staff started on our coffees. He took so long to make our drinks and more people had come to put in their orders. Not sure why it took him so long to make our drinks. Our food came out before our drinks did. I haven't been enjoying their coffee as much and am just kind of over the whole vibe the staff give off. read more

I'm sorry, but my coffee was terrible. My friends and I wanted to go to Kin bakeshop Nextdoor but the line over there was crazy so we decided to try this spot. I got a vanilla latte with almond milk, and it was $8, and tasted terrible. The espresso was burnt, there was so much ice that immediately my drink tasted so watery, and there was way too much milk. So it tasted like watered down, burnt coffee. The employees were nice, though, and parking was easy. I also tried a chocolate croissant, and it was pretty good, but it was missing the top flaky part of it. I was visiting from out of town, so maybe I just got a bad cup, but I will definitely not return. read more

First time visit, nice vibes and lots of seating. My barista/cashier did seem new tho. It's very pricey and I'm a bit bummed they bought out low pigeon as their portioning this visit was so off my small and large were filled with so much ice, and the amount poured was the same in each as I watched him pour. The other employee saw how there was still so much empty space in my large latte and told us he'd top it off. It was still just a cup of ice at this point after one sip... Flavor wise on my vanilla oat milk latte is that it's tasty & good quality. At $7 for a large, I expected a lot more. I think I'll stick to other local spots. read more

We were visiting family in the area and this was the closest coffee shop to us that wasn't a starbucks. Despite them having various locations in the area, they are locally founded and operated, which is important to me. The space has a light, beach-modern feel it. They roast their own beans in the area too. There is indoor and outdoor seating. We never found it to be overly crowded, which was nice. I enjoyed my oat milk matcha latte unsweetened and my husband reported his coffee was good. I am not sure if they bake their pastries onsite but we shared a croissant and a scone on one visit. While the scone was more of a cake texture than a traditional scone, it tasted good! read more

This was a nice coffee and pastry option for me before working my last day traveling in SB. The place has a really nice modern, light and clean feel to it. I ordered a hot chai latte and 2 croissant: an almond one and a chocolate one. I knew there was no way I would eat both but I had to get 2 different things to try for my Yelp review. I sat on the airy patio that sits by the street side. The croissants were just as you expect, light, flakey and buttery in texture. Honestly I preferred the almond one over the chocolate one. One of the locals told me that she suspects that a shop called Renoud's (sp?) maybe supply these croissants as they are identical to that shop's. But I don't know for certain. Mother chai latte had just the right amount of chair flavoring for my liking. Prices are pretty average for a Starbucks or Peet's. Had to ask for a for-here cup, or they will give you a paper cup. I wish there were some vegan pastries. I would have loved to get a vegan muffin or scone to go with my drinks. They have a vegan empanada, and their avocado toast looked good (and they told me their bread was vegan), but I was in more of a sweet mood. I'll have to try the avo toast another time. read more

I think this place has a bit of a low rating for what it is. As someone who studies at cafes it was a nice place. There are lots of seats, outlets, and indoor and outdoor seating. The WiFi works very well. In terms of coffee I think their lattes are a bit too sweet and their drinks are not the best, but that's not everything. This is Lighthouse Coffee's newest location in the newly constructure strip mall at the corner of Turnpike and Hollister. I am stoked because it is the closest one to Goleta (being in "Noleta"). Though it is always plagued with San Marcos students... Get here early if you want any food items because they go quickly. Nina was my cashier and barista. I felt horrible for her because the cash register literally fell out on her lap while helping me. It gave us all a good laugh. The inside is nicely clean and modern with a large outdoor patio that fills up quickly. Pet friendly--woof! Love the plants, light fixtures and logo on the brick wall--nice touches. Besides coffee and tea, they serve Juice Ranch juices and also recycle the bottles here. I'm all about being eco-friendly! I always appreciate their healthcare provider/first-responder discount. Lighthouse Coffee is new to Goleta. Aesthetically, the new construction is beautiful. An interior wall has a brick facade. There is a nice medium sized patio with plenty of shaded and sunny seating options. The counters and flooring have a cosmopolitan feel to it. The menu is diverse , featuring avocado toast for roughly $10, pastries, and peanut butter chocolate smoothies. I decided to have a coffee, smoothie and avocado toast. For the price, the food and beverages are good. I felt the smoothie tasted like it had added sugars which I wasn't a fan of. The avocado toast is ok. The coffee had nice flavor. There wasn't any coffee art if you are a connoisseur. Overall, it's a nice new coffee spot which I'm certain will be a place students will enjoy studying at. read more

I tend to prefer Dune over Lighthouse, because the service at Lighthouse can be inconsistent, but on this particular day it sufficed. Milk steam quality: 5/5. The temperature was perfect and the texture like silk. The pour was perfect as well. Espresso quality: 5/5. They use Handlebar espresso, which stands up to milk well, especially when the grind is set properly. On this day it was. Service quality: 5/5. Prompt and kind. No complaints. Ambiance quality: 4/5. The avocado toast is really tasty and they also have a gluten free option available. They were really accommodating to my order and answered questions I had about the coffee. They have lots of food options as well. Good coffee shop, just wish they had more tables/seating available inside. I've been coming to Lighthouse for a year or so now, and couldn't have given enough raving reviews. It only took me until now though since much has changed - I used to get their almond butter toast, and they had a faaaaantastic multigrain toast that made this place so much more special than any other regular "hipster toast" places. They were also extremely generous with their portions and the amount of toppings they put. However, they recently changed their bread, and skimp out on ingredients. The new bread literally taste like cardboard. Not only that, but they increased their prices even with the portion decrease. Coffee is pretty good and not crazy expensive. I always opt for their cold brew which can be a hit or miss. Twice I've gotten a cold brew where it was extremely sour (at the Mesa and Chapala location). So be warned it's not always consistent.... Great atmosphere and service. Hard to justify coming back now even if it was one of my favorite places. read more
