HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! I've worked in the service industry for years, and I would never turn a customer away if they walked in right as we are closing. I drove out of my way in desperate need of a cup of coffee, pulled into my parking spot at 4:58 and stepped into the shop at 4:59. As I entered, the manager looked me in the eyes and said sorry ma'am we're closed. Super disappointed and exhausted, I went back to my car. In frustration I actually went back into the store to let the manager know how disappointed I was and I heard him ask the barista behind the counter if they still had espresso to offer to another customer. He did not make that offer when I walked in at 4:59. Again, I really just wanted a quick cup of coffee and I went out of my way to get it I can't believe that they are ready to lock the doors and shoe people away at 4:59. Find a different coffee shop don't bother with this one. read more

my mother was just assaulted in this peets. she was then told to basically order her coffee and leave because the baristas didnt want to hear here out. the man who assaulted has white hair is about 6'4 or taller is a broad build and was absurdly rude to me and my mother, he was standing fairly fair from the line and refused to scoot up. then when he got to the register to order he backed up purposely into my mum i then put my hand out and he continued to back up into my hand which he wouldve hit my mother if i had not. he then punched her and proceeded to verbal assault both me and my mother. we will never be going here ever again the customer service was absolutely horrendous. the fact that we were basically told to just order our coffee and get out was ridiculous. read more

Well, I will start off saying something similar to what I said in one of my CBTL reviews: I have finally boycotted Starbucks. Why? Because their tea sucks. So I have moved on to places like Peet's because they have good tea, and a much higher drink quality. I've been a Peet's fan since college the first time around (10 years ago) and was a regular at the La Jolla location. I am happy that they are spreading around these days. Because it is a chain, a review can really only be effective for what is different about a certain location, and I have experienced such consistently outstanding customer service from this location that I finally have to comment. In general, because I like their product, all Peet's would get 3.5 stars from me. Any elevation or depression of this number is purely based on customer service.....so as you can see, this location is The Ish. It is on my regular rotation of study places (I try not to go to any one place too often) but I have found myself heading here more and more. Not only that, but a couple of weeks ago I even went out of my way to go to this location instead of stopping at the El Toro location on my way to school because...darn it...I just like these guys better. The manager is really on top of it, and, like a manager should be, she is the best employee. Always smiling, nice, joking with her co-workers, and still making sure everything gets done. In fact, the other workers here all come in to chat when they're not working. This is normal for a coffee place (I have worked in a few) but usually NOT when the manager is on duty. Not only that, but when I went in a few days ago, she actually felt BAD that she couldn't remember my drink! I get 3-4 different things, so there is no way for her to really remember, and when I told her that, she said "Oh, good, you made my day, I felt horrible that I didn't know it!". So cute. Drink quality of espresso drinks here is always above par, everyone working there has a good attitude, and the vibe is good enough for me to trudge though 5 hours of O-Chem homework here and not want to shoot myself. Grade: A Great coffee, friendly service. My favorite is the seasonal raspberry chocolate coffee and the vanilla lattes. Husband loves the coffee there too, regular black, lattes, you name it. Haven't had coffee since I'm expecting, but when I can drink coffee again, this will be my first stop. Their ice blends aren't my favorite, and I'm not fond of their snacks, but these aren't their specialties. Happy to have them close by! read more

Yes, it's another Peet's. I love this place. It's not my local coffee house but I find reasons to drive here out of my way to fetch a cup of black brewed bliss. The staff is generally really friendly (minus the boss lady) and they always get my drink exactly right. If you ask for a drip cup they will brew it for you on the spot in about 30 seconds. They always say, "It takes 30 seconds, is that okay?" I don't know anyone who would object to a 30 second wait, so I see this as their chance to brag about brewing delicious coffee in no time flat. My biggest complaint, as silly as it seems, is the bad service, mostly by Lyric. Every time I go in there, she is at the register and seems less than thrilled to even be there. She is so rude and depleted of energy that it makes me u comfortable. A few others have commented on the same but for some reason her boss never notices it? She should feel lucky to have the job. Seriously disappointed in Peet's!! Even though I have talked to the store manager before about the various occasions where we have received drinks that are filed with foam, we received 2 blended drinks with almost half the cup filled with whipped cream. My daughter had to point it out to me that there was really nothing to drink. Honestly, I don't get why they're getting so cheap!! I really love going to this Peet's in particular because of Mason. He makes the best Americanos for my boyfriend and I. We both really like him. He is interactive and kind and very polite. His parents done good. ;) He will be a success in all he does with that attitude. There is no Peet's in my area so I normally go to Peet's when I'm headed on the 5S fwy. I LOVE this coffee. I have been in search of a truly awesome rich true coffee flavor since Diedrich's is no longer around. I have to say, Peet's has got them beat. NO BITTERNESS. I purchase Major Dickenson's decaf in bags, which you can purchase at the store, online or at Smart&Final and Costco. I cannot have much caffeine. When coffee is done right, you cannot tell if it's leaded or unleaded. I love their new app, rewards, and emails with special offers. I take their surveys all of the time. Most times they don't give them to me when they pop up out of the machine after I pay, so I ask for them because I do take them and it's a $1.00 off your next purchase. Corporate has the surveys for a reason, and I give an honest answer. Overall I love Peet's. read more

Bummed to see a few of the low-star ratings because I love this place! The staff is always cheerful and super diligent about getting orders completed quickly and accurately. On occasion, if I say I'll be staying in for a bit, they'll bring over my coffee in a mug--making me feel super welcomed. And the coffee is always tasty--never bitter or burnt. Sometimes wifi is spotty; but it is free and unlimited, so I can't complain. My one dislike about this location is that there are cigar smokers who like to camp out right outside in the patio. I don't know if there's anything they can do about that, but it always gives me an immediate headache. read more

I used to love going to this Peet's when I lived in San Clemente. But the past year or two, my experiences have been mediocre so I found myself going to El Toro or Ocean Ranch more often just because I enjoyed interacting with the employees better. However, the last couple months have changed my mind. And today was the best customer service I've ever received from ANY coffee shop. I wished I remembered the name of the man who took my order because he actually walked outside and personally delivered our lattes to us. Loved the service so much that I walked back in and ordered a couple more coffees to bring back to my coworkers. He even informed us of the new app that is coming out later this year which made me more stoked! read more

I'm always one to pick Peet's over Starbucks due to the coffee. Both generally always have great service. Living near Peet's is a plus, but this particular location the staff / baristas seem to be lazy and carry some kind an attitude. My first time here my latte wasn't great, a little weak, and not very hot. Whatever I'll say it was a one off. However my latest visit prompted the review. Got myself a double small latte and a kids chocolate but Luke warm or cold form my toddler, please (as I'm holding my 2 year old ). No problem. Drinks come out and the kids chocolate is piping hot. fortunately, I try it first so my child doesn't get burnt. So Take it back to barista , and he makes some comment about how they normally add in cold milk after heating up hot chocolate for kids so he wouldn't remake it because they would just add cold milk to it anyway. I'm thinking to myself , huh, why is he explaining himself that is odd but now that I think about it he was shortcutting from remaking a good drink the way we asked for it. Bush league in my opinion Weird experience and made the customer feel like they didn't give a bleep about the experience there.
