The OG local bagel spot that started above T street in SC. I know there are a few locations but nothing compares to the OG. Surf T street, head to Bagel Shack, wait in the line that's present every waking hour it's open and order. I always get a large coffee which is surprisingly and solid cup. My youngest and my surf partner love's an OJ and 2 cinnamon bagels toasted with butter. I love seeing all the SC locals hanging enjoying their morning. The best customer service and bagels, the worst customers. People hold spaces and block the entire parking lot. It's a wonderful place but the crowd is so entitled, and if that includes me so be it! I was totally shocked at Bagel Shack today! I think it's under new management, and it felt more like a snack bar or place you'd find at the beach. All the food is the same, but the service and state of the restaurant is not. It was super busy, but there was trash all over the floor (maybe they need more staff). It doesn't seem like they ever wipe up the tables, there was bird poop on the chairs and I felt like I needed a shower after seeing the bathroom. It honestly was pretty shocking. I think if The Bagel Shack put in even a couple small changes, new tables and chairs being #1, I'd want to come here more often. They do have a great menu, but with there being so many great restaurants nearby, I think them putting in a little extra work and customer service, that would go a long way. read more

I've been to the San Juan location(s) many times over the years, but this was my first time at the SC location. This is the best Lowers bagel sandwich I've had yet. The everything bagel was sooo fresh and chewy (in the best way iykyk). The egg, cheese, bacon and avocado were also super fresh and perfectly cooked. Only downside of this spot is the parking in the back as it's small and will fill up quickly (especially on the weekends). It's a little pricey too, but well worth it. Portions are solid. Owner is typically present. Customer service is solid too, especially considering it's mostly young adults working. Patio seating to enjoy the gorgeous SC weather plus a little indoors as well. Definitely worth it to visit if you're a bagel person. Smoothies are phenomenal too read more

Bagels always fresh and warm if you show up in the early morning before the crowd takes over! Service is sketchy, sometimes great, sometimes just OK. With the crowd, the service slows and the place gets pretty messy. We used walk and sit, but have not done that in years. It gets very crowded especially on the weekends and in summer. You are good if you arrive before 7am, which is my goal if we want bagels for breakfast. I grab them and then take them home. We used to come and have the sandwiches, but over time they seem to be less tasty and not as appealing as they once were. We have shifted and just bring the bagels home and make sandwiches or have with lox, cream cheese, red onion and capers. Damn fine breakfast! Pro Tip: If you are color blind like me, be careful of grabbing a dozen plain bagels and when you bring them home they end up being strawberry. In the poor light and with my hazy morning eyes, I did not catch the slight pinkish hue of the strawberry bagels and they looked like plain ones to me. Upon that discovery, I was sent back to the BS by The Wife and The Kid to get some plain bagels as apparently, some people don't like lox and cream cheese on a strawberry bagel. Snobs... I've been eating here my whole life, recently I found a giant thick black hair in my food. I gave it to staff and they offered to remake but I was so disgusted I couldn't fathom eating. The line moved fast but finding a place to sit down to eat in the morning for breakfast was a bit of a challenge, especially when we saw 2 tables inside with only 1 chair. I order a multigrain bagel with egg, cheese, & avocado. I loved it! The eggs were cooked to perfection & there was a good amount of avocado added onto this sandwich. My boyfriend ordered the Lowers with bacon which is egg, cheese, & bacon. I had the best vanilla chai I've ever had here! It was amazing & I will most definitely be craving it for a while. Came in this morning to grab breakfast and had a really off-putting experience. While waiting for my order, I was chatting with a little girl and her dad who had just walked in. Apparently my name was called once and I didn't hear it. When I walked up to the counter, the older Hispanic woman with orange hair laughed and made a mocking "talking" hand gesture at me instead of simply saying she'd called my name. That kind of behavior is rude, unprofessional, and totally unnecessary--especially toward a paying customer who wasn't doing anything disruptive.
