Absolutely love this place when we are in town. Always a wonderful experience and exceptional delectable dishes. Today we chose the duck confit with fries, ridiculously delicious. Cremé brūlée French toast, out of this world delicious, not overly sweet; so many berries. The fruit platter, steel oats and a basic ham, eggs and home potatoes. Chewy and cooked wrong. The medium was cook rare and the rare one was goey. No flavor at all. I instantly regretted picking this location for brunch. I bagged up the steaks for my dog and headed out disappointed. For 62$ I wish I could say I was full and satisfied but I'm unfortunately not. Just lacking overall in taste. The breakfast potatoes tasted like free potatoes from a motel breakfast and the side salad with the steak frites just had a red vinaigrette dressing on Roman lettuce, no character at all. If you just want mimosas I guess this is a good place for that, they had a range in flavors from original orange juice to blueberry. Went for breakfast on Sunday morning, right when they open at 8 o'clock. Had to wait a few minutes for a whole party to be there before they seated us. Our server was very friendly, funny and attentive. Coffee and water were refilled frequently. We had steak and eggs, chorizo scramble, and Croque Madame. I had to laugh when I got my "traditional eggs benedict" first of all, it was disgusting and inedible. How could a place ruin such a classic breakfast??? Cafe Mimosa is a cozy spot down at the end of Del Mar Ave in San Clemente. They offer a small indoor section as well as a covered patio. They have a delicious brunch and great lunch items as well. The staff are all very friendly! I went the other day during the week around 1pm and there was only 1 other customer there. However, I know on weekends it gets really busy. There's also tons of parking on the street, as well as across the street at the library. There's no reason to not go and give em a try! read more

I ordered the traditional eggs Benedict. Traditional indicates to me, poached eggs over toasted bread with ham and hollandaise sauce. Here they served it with a smoked paprika sauce. I dislike smoked paprika. The sauce disguised the entire egg dish. I found it not at all to my liking. My husband didn't like it either. If I had been told when ordering it was not a traditional eggs Benedict but had a smoked paprika sauce I would not have ordered it. Delicious orange-pomegranate mimosa. The poached eggs in my "Frisée" a la Mimosa were perfect! Beautiful runny yolks. Potatoes, frisée, bacon we're a good balance too. Loved the light dressing on the frisée. Husband's omelette was good. The green onions were chunky and could have been sliced finer. The tomatoes were cooked down a little with the ham, yum; the cheese was present but not overpowering. Miranda was a lovely server and provided some great suggestions. We are waited 30 minutes for a table -which is totally fine and expected- but then we were seated inside next to where the waiters dropped all the dirty plates. She looked me up and down and was genuinely so rude about it. Then people who I heard just walk in and give their name got seated outside and a girl and her friend who got there about five minutes prior to that were seated outside as well. They didn't have reservations because this spot doesn't take reservations on Sunday and I literally heard them walk in and ask for a table. We have had a house in San Clemente for the last 5 years and would frequent this place on our visits, however when we moved here full time last March this has become our Sunday staple. We had breakfast here for the first time on a Sunday morning. The wait was about 1/2 hour and they have a little seating area out front where you can sit and wait for your table. The ambience in the restaurant is really cute, you will feel like you have been transported to the south of France. Premises are clean and tidy and all of the staff are super-friendly. What made it worse was finding out they don't allow dogs on the outdoor patio even if they're in a stroller. We had to leave our dogs in the car and listen to them bark the entire time, which completely ruined the visit. What really pushed me to update my review was the owner's response. Instead of addressing anything or showing even a little concern, the reply was just "You are correct." Its dismissive and rude, like they didn't care at all about the experience we had. After reading how they've responded to other negative reviews, it seems like this attitude isn't new. It's clear they're not interested in listening to customers or improving anything. Also, there is no "view" as the owner states. There is a view of the street and cars parked lol. There are plenty of places that value their guests and treat concerns with respect.
