Peet's Coffee is a chain coffee shop and this one is located in the Talega shopping center around the corner from the Ralph's. Peet's offers standard walk-in coffee shop fare with pastries, quickie sandwiches, teas, and coffee. You can buy in bulk or you can order individual cups and servings at the counter. The coffee has a strong flavor and the syrups lean towards very thick and sweet. So be careful how you order what you might from your standard coffee shop. I tend to order lighter on the syrup and heavier on the milk product. They do offer a variety of milks and for me my go to are almond and oat milk, which they have every time I go in. I'm not sure why, but this store annoys me every time I walk in. There's always at least one person that's condescending or rude or whatever. I really need to stop coming here. The attitude at Starbucks is so much better than Peet's and I'm not even a big Starbucks fan, but this particular piece is horrendous. Good neighborhood coffee shop which beats the other chain. Easy to order online w app. I usually get an iced tea, havana Cappucino, egg and cheese toast and iced coffee. Today was just an iced tea. Friendly service. I wish the tables felt a little cleaner. Sometimes can get full w people working. Also wish all of the patio tables had umbrellas. I go here EVERY DAY without fail, not because I can't make it at home myself, I go because of the sense of community I feel when I'm inside. It's the awesome staff/barista's that make my life so much better. Always friendly and cool people. The manager(s) are on top of thier game and make me feel like family. Located in a nice neighborhood shopping center with plenty of parking. But lets get to the coffee, why do big chain coffee shops burn their beans? Had a latte with rubber tire after taste notes. Plus it took them 15+ minutes to make my drink. Understandable if its a morning rush but not late morning. Finally, when I paid and hit the no tip button, the cashier replied with "no tip?" and gave me the side eye, since when is tipping mandatory? Tip you for waiting 15+ mins for a burnt coffee? I have been too many Peet's coffee and none are as terrible as this one. I had gone in with my service animal and immediately was rejected and told to leave by a women. When I notified her it was a service animal she still told me I could not be in here regardless of what it was. This company is not compliant with the ADA and after reading these reviews I see I am not the only one who has experienced this. It seems this lady takes joy in rejected people either disabilities due to her distaste in animals. This place is going to end up with a lawsuit. Great customer service! They greet you every time you walk in! Sweet baristas, they always have a friendly smile making your experience a nice one. This location gives me Carlsbad Vives! That's a great thing! The very first time my hubby and I introduced ourselves to Peet's was at the Bessie Ranch location in Carlsbad and since then we have been a true loyal Pertnik's fan! I enjoy their cold teas, and hot lattes. I just recently purchased two awesome tall mugs here (his and hers) and we are always looking for cool mugs to be added to our mug family. After all We didn't choose the #MUGLIFE, the Mug life chose us! They have a lovely and large our doors patio that wraps around the building from the front to the side! Lovely and just so pretty! I'm surprised that this place seems to not take pride in their store. It's located in such a beautiful & busy shopping plaza in San Clemente but the store itself seems to have fallen on bad times. We love Peet's Coffee & we basically go everyday here in CdM, but this San Clemente location has dirty bathrooms & just have a somber ambiance. Coffee is on point! I love Peets! However, customer service is lacking. When I come here I feel like Im a 6 year old bothering her teen older sister for a favor. Everyone is so hostile here. The barista was aggressive and mad. She took 15 minutes to make my tea and then was sassy when I asked if my drink was ready after 10 minutes. I don't feel as I was being unreasonable. Plus I noticed she treated every other customer around me the same. One girl even walked out and almost cried because the barista got mad at her when she touched the lid of her drink before the barista could change it to a different lid. I like everything they make at Peets, everyone is nice and friendly. The only negative thing is that they took the straws away and I have to ask for one every time I order a drink. If your going to take straws away you should have the special lids like Starbucks or ask the customer if they want a straw when you hand them their drink. I get that it might be state law, at least get biodegradable straws for the lids. There is nothing worse than driving with coffee and popping the lid off to drink and getting coffee all over your work clothes. read more

What I do love at Peet's is the service, menu and place itself. Cozy with plenty of seating outside as well and the drinks came out quickly. What I don't like is their coffee which is a shame. My mocha was bitter and just very off-putting in taste. The caramel better, but being a fan of mocha, both the hot and blended mocha just did not do it for me and I would probably not bother to return again. read more

Deep within the bowels of San Clemente, something dark and brown is brewing.... Yes, I drove 15 miles out of my way just to hit up the closest Peet's. This spot is in a little mini-mall located in suburbia heaven or hell, depending on your frame of reference. And I will keep repeating this as long as I live: Peet's coffee is 50 times smoother than that burnt stuff served up by that massive coffee chain we all are familar with. The music at this location was low key, the staff was friendly and happy, and the interior was clean and spacious. They have a nice patio, too, although it overlooks the parking area. We don't live in a fair or rational world but if we did, Peet's would be on every corner instead of that other coffee chain. read more

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! I've worked in the service industry for years, and I would never turn a customer away if they walked in right as we are closing. I drove out of my way in desperate need of a cup of coffee, pulled into my parking spot at 4:58 and stepped into the shop at 4:59. As I entered, the manager looked me in the eyes and said sorry ma'am we're closed. Super disappointed and exhausted, I went back to my car. In frustration I actually went back into the store to let the manager know how disappointed I was and I heard him ask the barista behind the counter if they still had espresso to offer to another customer. He did not make that offer when I walked in at 4:59. Again, I really just wanted a quick cup of coffee and I went out of my way to get it I can't believe that they are ready to lock the doors and shoe people away at 4:59.
