I'm a bit of a matcha enthusiast, so while I was in the area with some time to kill, I thought I'd give their matcha a try. There's a few tables outside, where folks were enjoying their morning coffees. Inside is a typical Peet's, with some tables, pastry display, and coffee line. I placed my order, and waited for about 20 minutes. I could tell right away that this was going to be subpar because the color was dull. Good matcha has a vibrant green color. The taste was muted as well. It was ok enough to drink, but definitely needed more punch. Hubby had a cappuccino, and he really enjoyed that. Overall, this is a typical Peet's with good coffee, but subpar matcha. read more

Stopped by for a quick coffee but needed to use the restroom first. The restroom is locked and for customers only. I was given the code without getting questioned. The bathroom was disgusting!!! It was horrific. It was like a roadside gas station! No kidding. I would have taken a picture but it would probably violate Yelp's user guidelines. I left out without ordering anything. I would NEVER eat or drink anything from a place that keeps their bathrooms so disgusting. There were splatters. Use your imagination. Splatters everywhere. Great service but there is a big problem. There are a bunch of people scamming there who will try and scan your card through your wallet. Once they get your card info they send it to Long Beach where someone robs you of all your money. Great place great location but that is a huge problem. Fired one of their union organizers over a policy that is as know as Apple's Terms and Services (aka, no one knows about it unless you read the rule book like a lawyer; btw the policy was about being inside the store for 5 minutes WHILE WAITING FOR THEIR FELLOW OPENER). It's one thing to get an order wrong, and I mean completely wrong, it's another thing to be indignant when corrected. I ordered a horchata latte and when I ordered it, I said, can this (I pointed to the oat horchata) be made hot? The barista said yes and I also asked for half and half to be added and she asked if I wanted it steamed I said yes. For my second drink, I ordered the fiery mocha and asked for it to be made with part half and half as a well and decaf we didn't discuss temperature at all, it's shown as a hot drink on the menu and I'm ordering another hot drink, hot is how I'm expecting to receive it. The vibe was already "hurry up and decide and order" but I dismissed it since it's early. When the drinks are ready, one is hot the other is cold. There wasn't a label on the hot drink and I didn't see one on the cold drink. I assumed the horchata was the one mistakenly made cold because it was listed as a cold drink on the menu. That would make sense. I asked for the drink to be remade and gave them the cold drink. So when she called fiery mocha after the drink was done being remade I was thoroughly confused lol. I expressed that confusion and the tone of their response made me feel like I was in the wrong and it was my fault. I didn't appreciate the vibe from either of them. Why someone would order an iced cold fiery mocha at 6am on a cold morning, I don't know. But I definitely didn't. 7:30A today at Peet's, I ordered a large dark roast with heavy whip. The cashier gave me a large black coffee. When I asked if she'd added the cream, which she hadn't, her response was a brash, "That's why I repeated the order to you." I'd already paid for the coffee and given a tip, so to be treated this way was unacceptable. I called Peet's corporate, but they simply took a complaint and suggested I "go back and try again!" Absolutely not. At 7:30 AM, all I wanted was my coffee with heavy whip - I didn't need a rude lesson on how to order. I didn't even get my money back; I just told the cashier she could keep the coffee. Instead, I went next door to Noah's. They were incredibly nice, even acknowledging that the Peet's cashier "is just like that." They then gave me a free coffee! While it wasn't Peet's, it was a wonderful random act of kindness for which I'm truly grateful. As for that Peet's counter lady, she seriously needs some customer service training! read more

Had the worst white chocolate mocha that had to be made twice and still asked for a refund. The so called batista was rude AF, but rightfully so. After all so was her manager. The so called manager needs to be trained along with her employees in customer service because it was certainly lacking. Won't be back that's for sure. read more

I have yet to have a great experience at this location. In fact it's so bad I pull off into Lafayette if I need a coffee fix and I'm driving for my commute. The people behind the counter are really engaged... with each-other. In fact they never stop talking to each-other. The base store itself has a ton of potential but with the current staff they have there is zero engagement with customers. This Peet's is fine for drinks, not so fine for beans. I will no longer order beans here because they make those orders a low priority. They think the beans hold up the line so they don't want to do them. Today, for example, I ordered two pounds of whole beans. I took one from the rack but there was no decaf there so I had to order the other. There were at least 10 people behind me in line. There were several workers on duty. Various existing orders needed to be filled first, which I of course understood. Then the staff proceeded to fill almost all of the orders behind me one at a time, ignoring my beans order. After about half the line was gone I asked politely about the beans. I was told, "The pastries are ahead of you." That would be fine if it were true, but I watched the people who had been in line behind me ordering pastries one by one and getting their orders filled. I had ordered before all of them. Finally the cashier stepped over and filled my beans order, obviously annoyed to have to do it. It was an unpleasant experience, as it almost always is when I order beans here. Put a little love in your heart ... A funny thing happened to me on the way to work today. "Funny." As in, curious. As in instructive. There I was, later than usual but maybe not for a Monday morning these days and the line was long in the small space poorly configured for a line so the workers have to work more deliberately than they always do to serve the sleepy customers as they queue up for something hot to start their day. And there were these ladies on the queue that had come in together but for their own distractions had separated themselves in line. As the chain of humans marched one small step at a time towards the register the lady in the back came over to speak with the lady towards the front then voila there they were together in front of me at the counter and it didn't even cross my mind that the lady from behind me had joined the lady in front of me to get her happiness on I was all just I'm close and Shelly is there and these guys are cool so in a second it will be my turn. This, however, was not how the second group of ladies immediately behind me saw it and isn't it interesting how the world looks so different from inside our own heads. To these other patrons this line skipping was an inexcusable offense and so inexcusable that they had to first in their not-inside voices share this opinion with the ladies who had perhaps somewhat thoughtlessly rejoined but also with Shelly and the other staff establishing that they had been coming to this Peet's for 10 years and I could only assume that this made them an authority on the subject and when our fine people behind the counter in a bit of a bewildered way asked the injured party to take a breath out they stormed but not before offering their assessment that this incident was an excellent example of what was wrong with this country of ours. And then I got to thinking harder after these words and you know what? I agree. People please. You've got to get a tighter grip on your reality. Because to a lot of you, what you see and feel inside your head is absolutely not what's going on, and your sense of entitlement that makes it OK for you to give a third dimension to your moral outrage and affect the space and disposition of everybody around you has got to come back into check. How aggrieved you all have become. How righteous. Check yourself before you wreck yourself. This Peet's is a fine Peet's and you know what? I've been coming here for fourteen years and I am more of an authority on this than you indignant mean people who can't even spell decorum let alone know what it means. Your parting words were about a suggestion box and something else that got drowned out by the foam coming from your mouth that wasn't latte foam and from what you describe you won't be getting your latte on here anymore and this is just fine with me. This review is my answer to your suggestion box. The good people at this location work hard to get our days off on the right foot. They're inside cleaning and getting the coffee brewing before the sun rises and they have the pleasure of putting up with all of us as their thank you. There are way way more of us that appreciate their hard work and the smiles than there are the crabapples though sometimes all it takes is a giant crab to make it seem the opposite. But it isn't. We love you Erica and Tom and Jake and Shelly and all the other special people who I haven't memorized but I know who you are and very much appreciate what you do. Located within a tiny shopping complex containing several other retailers including: Walgreens, H&R Block, T-Mobile, and Noah's Bagels, the tiny parking lot here fills up rather quickly at peak times. While the lot itself seems safe around where Peet's is located, there are random homeless people who hang out towards the Walgreens side of the lot, giving the lot a less than safe feeling, especially in the evenings. This particular Peet's location seems to always be quite busy, and my last trip here was no exception. Ordering a Med. Iced Green Tea Tropical ($3.05), the barista was fast, efficient, and very friendly. The drink itself came out pretty quickly and was quite refreshing to drink. For those coming during this shelter-in-place period, Peet's is taking mobile orders and will have your drink ready for you at the door. In order to ensure the safety of patrons and employees within, and to be compliant with the law, walk-ins is not permitted. Typical cafe with decent coffee and pastries. The free wifi has been good to me so far, and I've seen several people do work here. Outlets are available for your electronics, but they are clustered so that every other table has 4 outlets. Very nice if you're at an outlet table, otherwise you'll have to ask the person sitting there and awkwardly crouch underneath their table to access the outlet. read more

Used to be a good Peet's experience, but today the staff was all a bunch of kids who seemed more interested in playing with each other's hair than doing their job. We had a very simple order of two small iced drinks and two food items. First we were handed one iced drink and one hot, and when we said that we ordered two iced drinks and no hot ones, the young girl that handed them to us threw and attitude and said "well are you going to keep it? I'm just throwing it out." Then we were handed only one of the food items and were told we were 'good to go' and we had to correct them saying that we were still missing one. When we returned to our vehicle where we could try our drinks the one that was supposed to be specifically sweetened was NOT. ( the person we placed our order with ASKED US if we wanted that one sweetened, and we said YES ) this was also the one we where handed that needed to be fixed because it was not cold.. This entire order included a tip, so we did not expect this treatment. It's fine to have a younger high school aged crew, because everyone needs to start somewhere, but there needs to be an older supervisor on duty to keep the playground in control. read more

The worker's name is Samara rude and snobby and refused to give us more milk and said when you order a venti with no ice you will only get half of your cup filled. The workers were friendly, but to each other - can't necessarily say they were at all trying to appeal to the better nature of the customers. I remember laughing to myself as I took a look around at all the seated customers thinking "boy, doesn't seem like the liveliest crew in here."
