Open late, friendly staff, yummy baked goods... what's not to love?
    Rick M.

Sometimes you forget about the oldy-but-goody places we have in the East Bay that have managed to remain consistently fantastic over the decades. And the Peet's Lakeshore location is one of those gems. I used to frequent this Lake Merritt adjacent spot quite a bit back in the day, but like so many of us city dwellers do, we tend to live our lives within a few blocks of home. And to be sure, finding easy parking in Lakeshore is not always straight forward. But a recent trip out reminded me what I was missing. Lakeshore Peet's is one of the larger, original Peet's shops. They have a big, open, and bright space with plenty of seating. Lots of plugs for those needing a charge. Service is fast and friendly, which is important on weekend when the shop gets slammed for morning service. The retail side has plenty of beans and coffee-making supplies like filters, pots, and mugs. Perhaps best of all, Peet's Lakeshore is OPEN LATE till 8pm. Remember when coffee shops stayed open late?!? The freshly brewed java in store rotates regularly and almost always has a dark and medium roast available. And the espresso based drinks are prepared well. If you need some nibbles with your caffeine, the bakery case has the usual suspects throughout the day. (But let's be honest, the well-informed will walk their Peet' coffee directly across the street to Arizmendi Bakery or a few doors up-street to Colonial Donuts for the best accompaniments.) And with coffee and munchies secured, you are well-equipped for a Lakeshore stroll, and as well you should as this is a vibrant neighborhood full of shops, restaurants, and outstanding people watching. Thanks, Peet's Lakeshore, for reminding me how good you are!

The Woke Peet's! Always interesting people here. And firefighters! Tend to be well-stocked with coffee and self-serve table (milk, sugar) usually stocked and clean

The was my first time ever trying Peet's coffee and I can't believe how late I am lol My little sister works at the San Leandro location and she knows all the good drinks! Yesterday I had the matcha frappe with honey and cinnamon and it was BOMBBBBBB!!!! Once I like a drink, I stick to it. That is my new and only favorite. This location was vibe too. Real coffee shop, music playing, people handling business on their phones and laptop lol makes me want to go there and just kick my feet up with some coffee. The baristas were really nice and helpful too!! Thank youuuuu

I had a deal to use from the Peet's app, so I ordered an iced peppermint mocha, less ice, light chocolate syrup and light peppermint syrup, regular whipped cream, 2 shots, 2% milk, regular foam. The drink was ready according to the prediction time and it tasted pretty decent, even with my modifications it was still quite sweet but you can still taste a little bit of the coffee beneath. This location seemed to be pretty busy, I was also surprised how much bigger it was on the inside since it looks small on the outside.

Welcome to a Lakeshore neighborhood staple! I love this location. Peet's is a part of chain which to me means everything taste the same no matter what location you go to. But what sets this location apart is the customer service associates and the community it serves. The staff here always greet you when you come in and leave. They are nice and also patient. Sometimes I stray from my usual cold brew and try something new and they are great at making suggestions. The inside of the store is usually clean and the tunes are usually stellar! I buy Peet's coffee to make at home - but love to treat myself to a trip to this location. Thanks staff for always making my experience here delightful! Treat yourself and enjoy a pleasant coffee shop experience!

Everything plant-based sandwich ($6), vegan by default. Surprisingly good given that it's just microwaved frozen ingredients.
    Kedar D.

Peet's offers a fully vegan breakfast sandwich so I stopped by to try it while visiting Oakland. The "Everything plant-based sandwich" ($6) is oddly satisfying and flavorful. It's the type of mass-market junk food that I wish Starbucks would finally launch in fully vegan form. I wouldn't go out of my way for this sandwich, as it's essentially a bunch of frozen foods (Just Egg, Beyond patty, Violife cheese, unknown bagel) reheated and served ready-to-go. But it does represent a type of convenience and reliability that was unknown to vegans before, say, 2018 or so. It's not a leap-forward in terms of creativity, but I enjoy the ease and cheapness of it.

The manager Stella or stellar is rude I literallyyyy walked in asked for a water with a great attitude because I've been having a great day and this child that shouldn't be running the store wanted to stunt my shine by proceeding to look at me as if something was wrong with giving her a warmly hello honestly she's rude and has no customer service when I asked another employee for her name she wants to rudely interrupt by asking me what my name is as if she's going to do something to me in the streets shes so unprofessional fire her!!!

Ask the Community - Peet's Coffee

Will Peets grind your coffee beans for you? I purchased some Peets at Safeway without realizing it was beans....

I believe that they do. If you specify the grind number, they can grind it to your liking.

We went mainly for drinks and tried a latte, tiramisu latte, and a Spanish latte. The tiramisu latte and Spanish latte were both really good and definitely my favorites. Smooth, flavorful, and not overly sweet. You can tell the coffee quality is solid. We also tried the matcha drinks in vanilla and strawberry. I liked the strawberry matcha more. It comes unsweetened, so I asked for it to be sweetened and it was great after that. The vanilla matcha was fine too, just not my top pick. They're also dropping a new Ramadan drink soon, a date latte, which sounds really good and I'll probably come back just to try that. Overall, great drinks and a nice place to hang out.

I loved the ambiance, it felt we was in another country. The place was packed I have no idea where everyone parked haha. Very hard to find parking. The Adeni Chai I had was wonderful and I would get again. The lemon pastries I had were good & I would possibly get again. Both cheese pastries & meat pocket I didnt care for so much. I undetstand they are an acquired taste but me being Middle Eastern we have our own versions and I think that's why I didn't like as much. I would definitely go back and try more sweet pastries. They had a large selection I couldn't try them all haha. I would love to try more tea and coffee options as well. Go and try out several different pastries and discover what you like. It's cheaper than buying an airplane ticket to try another countries culture and delights. They also have outside seating which is especially nice on a beautiful day. Pro tip: take an Uber if you can. Parking is hard to get.
