Buffalo Check Blend: Peet's coffee was recommended to me by one of my co-nurses at work back in 2019 and it quickly stormed its way to the top of my favorite coffee brands. Fun fact, the founders of Starbucks knew the founder of Peet's Coffee and Starbucks originally purchased their beans from Peet's. I'm a little embarrassed to say I did not know what the term "Buffalo Check" meant, although I've obviously seen the pattern living in WI (I always just thought of it as lumberjack attire). Buffalo Check is the rustic pattern featuring, large, blocky/square, two-toned checks (typically black and red). If you're not catching my meaning, check out the pattern on this coffee blend's bag for an example. The Buffalo Check Blend is a medium roast coffee that has notes of chocolate and toasted nut with a hint of sweetness. Try as I might, I primarily just detect a general sweetness to it and not specifically chocolate-covered toffee or maple syrup. Although it's not my favorite blend from Peet's, it is still delicious and makes for a satisfying alternative to my go to (Major Dickason's). She just kept talking and talking and sitting there talking to her coworker. I had to remind her, "hey I just ordered a cup of coffee" I shouldn't have tipped and I used to work at Peet's, the coffee was so disgusting and old. Again, I wish I could be part of this generation where you get paid for a customer service job and to pour a cup of coffee and can't manage to talk and take 2 seconds of her time to get my coffee. The jury is still out on how I feel about the new Peet's coffee at the Emeryville public market. They are back open and operating, but instead of a dedicated coffee shop they are now a vendor inside the Emeryville public market. If one orders and desires to sit and have their coffee, one will be doing so in the public market. That shouldn't be a problem, except the pizza is no longer a reasonably quiet coffee shop with seats and places to plug in a laptop. It's now a kiosk inside a noisy, often crowded food court I visited today. My order came out fast and the food seemed fresh. No more full glasses of water, now serving water in those little plastic Dixie cups. I definitely see the financial benefit of colocating the dining area with the food court. But this is no longer going to be a popular coffee shop, but more of a convenient place to grab a cup of coffee. The Emeryville public market is a great place to eat, but it is not a comfortable place to eat. Here you sit on stools at elevated tables, and often share your table with others. The service is great here as well as the coffee. This shop looks small but they have great coffee, a good selection of pastries, oatmeal, croissants, and banana bread. There is plenty of parking and tables to sit at inside to work on your laptop. If you're short on time I recommend using the app to order ahead. When I received my drink I questioned a male barista name ((((SAL))))) about the discrepancy of my drink that why my drink was so watery in I had ask with light whipped cream . This Peets location has moved a few doors down. they closed the seating, couched, hangout lounge completely and turned it into a tiny fast food style counter service only. they probably let go most of the fun, funky, and interesting employees but i can't say. i spent 5 minutes on a screen trying to order a medium hot coffee, was barraged with add-ons, left completely annoyed by the buggy touch-screen. this place is everything i dislike about technology, fast food culture, and cold af vibes. I just got back from Pete's coffee. You should never feel upset and diasspointed after getting coffee but that's what my experience turned out to be. I walked up to their express counter as the only customer for a moment. It was around 11:40am ish and it looks like everyone was doing prep and handling mobile orders. I wait at the cash register for someone to notice me and someone finally turned their head after two and half minutes to say, "I'll be right with you" which took an extra minute. I finally get my order in, a small cold brew, and I wait. The lady after me ordered a hot coffee and got her drink a good few minutes before me. I am literally just waiting there just for my iced coffee as patient as possible...I eventually get it. At that point, it feels like I waited a total of about 10 minutes to be acknowledged and served...for a cold brew of coffee. Again, I waited almost three whole minutes just to get my order in when nobody was around me. Mind you, I use to work in a variety of cafes when I was younger and I was trained to multitask and look up etc. I get mobile orders can back up bartistas but the in-real life customers are there just to literally get coffee and go. Anyway, by the time I get my coffee I just got the feeling of not wanting it anymore to the point where I wanted my money back. Thus...I left upset and disapointed. I didn't even know if cold brew flavors were offered but I was just so put off by the experience to even ask. Perhaps, if I were a tall white guy , maybe, I would of got served sooner but I'm not. This review has nothing to do with the staff as they are always so friendly, kind, and hard working. This is more geared towards the corporate end. They've moved this peets location next door to the public market. At the old location next door to where there will now be a Sweet greens, customers used to sit down and work peacefully. People used to talk quietly amongst themselves, get some work done, and simply take a small break while enjoying some coffee. I used to see some people who visited daily which is great knowing that this was a community space. It seems like now Peets cares more about the grab and go coffee. There isn't a comfortable place to work or to just sit and enjoy your drink. The public market is loud and the work space for the baristas looks cramped. Peets seems to want to hire less workers and encourages mobile orders. I don't see how this new location will encourage people to buy coffee from here. In fact, I'm sure they will actually lose customers. Isn't the point of a coffee shop to sit, drink coffee, and do work?? It's not just this location but many others such as in concord. I'm thinking Peets coffee doesn't want people to sit for "free" in their coffee shops anymore which is stupid. Were maintenance fees that high? There are plenty of other local coffee shops that people should frequent instead. I wonder what would happen if they did this in Capitolas location considering they're customer population lolll. Rich, bold caffeinated deliciousness - Peet's Major Dickason's blend is heaven in a mug. I've been a Peetnik for a almost 2 decades and have been a fan of Major Dickason's blend for the same. The blend is the epitome of a bold dark roast with none of the pretentiousness of that "S" brand who in my opinion, over roasts to simulate a rich dark blend. Major D's is a velvety dark roast with a superb flavor; friends who claim they can't stand dark roasts because they taste 'burnt' have a cup of Major D's and their mind is changed. Now Peet's isn't exactly the least expensive brand of coffee, but it's certainly well worth the extra money. As of this review 26Jun20, Peet's offers free shipping on all subscriptions, great deal! One thing is for sure, if I don't wake up to a cup of Peet's my day just doesn't feel right - I'll even schlep a package of Peet's when I travel out of town. Now that is love! I love Peet's and I would def. pick Peet's over SB anytime. I wish we have a Peet's on Oahu but for now, its just Keurig Coffee or when I am close to a Peet's on vacation. Before booking my hotel, I did a Yelp search for Peet's coffee and I was super happy that a Peet's was 7 mins away. Can you tell I am in love with Peet, Peet's?! This Peet's location is located Next to Emeryville Public Market, there are 2 entrance, the public market entrance and across of parking lot, front entrance. I like this Peet's, actually this store is the very first Peet's shop I stepped foot in to, usually its at the airport when I get to grab my Peet's coffee. This shop is very small and cozy, loved the music and the sofa seats. I stopped at Peet's 3 times during my short Oakland visit, the first visit was to get my other half and my favorite drink, caramel macchiato, after having dinner at the public market. My very first time trying Peet's macchiato and wow, it was the best ever, love that is was more stronger than it was sweet. The other 2 times were to grab my morning coffee which dark roast is a must for me. The hotel I stayed at offers coffee in the morning but I rather have my Peet's. I also got 2 breakfast sandwich for me and the other half ( ham and swiss, ham and cheese) and pumpkin bread and I loved it. I was surprised, that actually taste better than it looks. Peet's sure can get busy, during my visits, I noticed the line gets really long, I see that the staff works hard to fulfill everyone's order. I love an old school Peet's Coffee & Tea and in the Emeryville Public Market in Emeryville, California, they still have one of their more venerable locations, complete with a currently unused coffee bean roasting and coffee drip bar! Located along a newly realigned Shellmound Street on the outside of the huge tower that also holds the Emeryville Public Market, this location of Peet's Coffee has been around almost as long as the indoor marketplace has, but not quite, as this was a location that was added on, at least twenty years ago, if not earlier. From my memory of what was so wonderful about this location was that parking was so easily accessible since there was a huge open and free parking lot across the street that served to aid the customers of the Public Market as a whole. Now this has all changed since they tore down the old cinema, and in its place they have built multiple new buildings with new apartments and storefronts. Unfortunately time has crept up on the new developments, as the times we are currently living in has put everything on hold, including any new businesses. This includes the parking lot that once existed right in front of this Peet's Coffee location and a couple years ago, Shellmound Street was realigned to be in front of the Peet's Coffee location to make the scene more "town center" friendly where people can live, shop, eat and walk among all of the towers around them. With everything on hold, there is a huge open lot across their entrance on Shellmound Street with no parking available. Instead, if you want to park near this location on Peet's, then you have to try for street parking on Shellmound, which I was lucky enough to get on the Friday afternoon I went. The reason we came on this warm Friday afternoon, was because I was due a complimentary drink thanks to me earning enough points via my Peets app, which is like a frequent visitor stamp card, but even simpler since all you have to do is check-in on the app whenever you order a drink from any Peet's Coffee locations. And since it was so warm outside, I knew I wanted a blended drink, which at Peet's they call Frappé, which is their version of a Frappuccino, but at Peet's there are no substitutions or are you allowed to make with your own set of ingredients, as one would enjoy at one of their rivals. As I prepared to order the drink I consider my tried and true, which is their Chocolate & Caramel Frappé, I was surprised to see on one of their stationary menus along their wall above their counter that they had three new seasonal Frappe that were according to the menu were "rich, dreamy and smooth" and only available for a limited time for the season. So I decided to order their Strawberry Crème Frappé which had strawberry puree blended with creamy milk, ice, and layered with even more strawberry puree. While my friend ordered their Mocha Strawberry Frappé, which was a double strength Baridi Cold Brew mixed with Peet's homemade chocolate sauce, whipped with milk and ice, then layered with real strawberry puree. Perhaps because these were newer and not a traditional Frappé drinks that their baristas were used to making, the drinks did take a little extra time to make, but once we got them in our hands, we could not be more pleased as they were both the perfect sweet treats for the warm weather and could be considered a pure taste of summer! They were creamy beverages that when drinking one could not even know that coffee was even in the drink. Most importantly, who knew one could get this fantastic creation at Peet's, as they tend to have the same Frappé drinks on their menu day in and day out with very little changes or personal orders allowed. My only wish is that they allowed for these drinks beyond that of summer, even year-round as they would no doubt be top sellers. Alas, this was not meant to be, as by late August, Peet's as a whole had already moved onto their Fall Flavors, and of course there were no seasonal Frappés on their menu anymore. Nevertheless this location of Peet's is a solid location, could it use a bit of a refresh? Sure, but people still enjoy the atmosphere for work, studying and complimentary WiFi. If there is a primary reason to visit this location is that they are so close to the Powell Street exit off of Interstate 80, and who doesn't want a quick drink to quickly grab in between waiting in traffic? This location is perfect for that, despite the current parking woes, and for this reason alone I will be grateful that it remains in a constantly evolving building and neighborhood. read more

I like to come to this Peet's during the week the staff here is great but today I came on a Sat morning and I was greatly offended. It's part of my ministry to buy a stranger a cup of coffee when I have one and I saw a guy I see often here and decided to buy him a cup of coffee. I was offended when the cashier asked me if the second cup was for me. When he asked I said that is clearly none of your business who I drinks this coffee or who I buy it for. As I waited I heard Asher the barista saying bad things about h homeless guy and I feel that they were both out of line. If there is a rule that I cannot buy coffee for a random person sue me. I was not happy with my experience here today and I rather find another Peet's to go to on the weekend that won't try to break my spirit of philanthropy. Biked here today on a quick coffee run during my lunch break and Jared instantly showed exceptional customer service. He apologized for not being able to take my order immediately, but it was not problem at all, I literally waited less than 2 minutes and he acknowledged me once I walked into the shop. Not to mention his attention to detail. I subbed for almond milk in my iced caramel macchiato and he politely informed me that the caramel contains dairy and wanted to make sure that was ok. I visited Peet's Coffee & Tea in Emeryville while exploring the Emeryville Public Market. First of all, I just love the Market place. So many yummy places to eat or just to snack and try all the various outlets there. I ordered the Caffe Mocha. Just so delicious. The hostess Cassandra and the Cashier Takara were kind and helpful. You can tell they enjoy what they do there. The mocha was rich and I could definitely taste the coffee in this drink unlike other places where I only taste the chocolate. Why bother rating a Peet's when they all serve the same hot caffeinated beverages? Location, of course. Location, location, location. This suburban-style franchise is bigger than most but just as hectic with the overflow coming from the globally oriented diners of the Emery Bay Public Market. But this Peet's is a necessity since there is no Blue Bottle, no Philz, no Four Barrel in these parts. So the pooh-poohing you are used to expressing at Peet's doesn't hold much water around here, especially since this must be the closest store to the corporate headquarters. I remember when Peet's had the cachet of Blue Bottle many years ago when it just had its North Berkeley operation, but those days are long gone since they decided to go toe-to-toe with Starbucks. The result feels more pre-packaged with staff often on automatic pilot. It's not that much different at this location, but where else can you get a decent soy latte around here. And don't tell me to go into the big cavernous Borders and order one at Seattle's Best. Their stuff always has a weird sweetness that makes me feel a bit nauseated. Peet's is the only reasonable choice. Pooh-pooh on you if you think otherwise.
