Cassie was such a patient Barista! We've always stop at this Starbucks on our way home from San Francisco to Sacramento. We've stopped at the other Starbucks off the I-80 freeway and they were either out of mocha for Frappuccino or not very friendly. Our two Mocha venti was perfect! We brought in our own cups and Cassie gave us mugs to put our cups in as she's supposed to! My husband asked for the restroom code and it was 6 digits and being a senior citizen and hearing impaired, she was patient and wrote the code down in large numbers! This review is based on the mornings, which is the most crucial time of the day. 1. People want their drinks or breakfast 2. We have to go to work. Recently moving to Emeryville and recently landing a job, I integrate my starbucks routine in the morning to give myself enough time to place an order and get to the Emery-Go-Round. I have been coming here over the past month and recently I have been having issues with the new morning staff. The men have always been on it with working and doing their job as fast as they can, but the women in there (I should probably get their names) are such slackers. The best feeling as you approach the glass doors is to see one person or no one in line. The past couple times, that has happened to me so I would expect quicker service, nope. My expectation was definitely not nearly met. Only person in-line (7 minutes for a breakfast sandwich) One person in front of me (8 minutes for tea) The reason why they are so slow is because the barista is just singing and talking to her other co-workers. She takes her time walking behind the counter and has to look at the cup multiple times to figure out what she's doing. If she just focused and did her job it would be done faster. I just get annoyed when people are taking longer than they should and I have a bus to catch. Hopefully over time she learns to work at a normal pace or switch her out to a shift where people wont be waiting longer than they should. read more

I stopped by this location for a quick drink and a bite to eat. Unfortunately, it was anything BUT quick! I waited in line while the cashier helped two women in front of me, which took quite some time to get their orders right, to ring them up, and to scan their phones for payment. This was all while a second employee, without an apron, walked from in front of the cash wrap -- around me -- and made a free drink for her boyfriend who was standing in front of the cash wrap. When she was done, I tried to get her attention to ask if they had any breakfast sandwiches left, since there were none in the bakery case -- but she ignored me and walked to the back! When I finally ordered, it took just as long to get my drink! The barista didn't seem to understand the order of the two women who had been in front of me -- blended versus unblended refreshers -- and took a reallly long time to discuss the order after giving it to them. By the time I got my drink, the only other person who had been in line behind me received their drink at the same time as I did! Apparently, the barista made his drink at the same time as my drink! On top of this, my drink wasn't even properly made, but I had already left the store by the time I tried it and I didn't want to wait even longer for them to re-make it! With all of the coffee shops to choose from -- let alone all of the Starbucks locations in the area -- I will not be back to this one. read more

This is the worst Starbucks store I have ever been. Service is super slow, staffs are impolite and Unprofessional (oh both times I came in the early morning before 8am. Not sure if that matters) . I had a meeting to go and since there was a long line even I had my Mobil order in, I told them I had to cancel. They said I have to wait for that too. I left for my meeting without waiting for them to process, they did not cancel for me and charged me. So horrible. Compared to this store, the one located inside the Powell plaza is much much better. I LOVE this location. In every category, this location is better than all other Starbucks in the Oakland / Emeryville / Berkeley area. Staff: They really care. Space: Big beautiful windows. Always mostly clean. Managers: Strong leadership. Bathroom: Always clean. Wifi: Strongest in the entire area. Patrons: This location very rarely has any homeless or crazy patrons. Community: I really appreciate this space as a hub for Emeryville workers and residents to connect. Transportation: There's a popular Emerygoround stop outside. Some reviews have complained about speed, but if speed is important to you, place your mobile order 5-8 minutes before arriving. They usually make mobile orders even faster than that. I've been coming here for a year now and it took me a while to get use to the staff. Like I had mentioned in my first review the service was a hit or miss. After coming here for over 8 month I noticed the staff started to recognize I was a regular and they were friendlier. My drinks started to come out more accurate and everything seemed to go smoothly. I expected a much larger container, but realized my mistake when I was told that "tall" is the smallest size, haha. If that's full, there's another red curb that's only no parking one Monday out of the month for street sweeping, but no one reads the sign so it's always empty ;) Great location, great staff. Her: Oh hi, aren't you one of the engineers? Me: (Gulp) Uh huh Her: That's so cool! My boyfriend is an engineer too! Me: That's nice... The moral of the story? Much to my surprise and disbelief, this joint was brimming with business. This is what happens when you have no competition; people patronize this place because there's nowhere else to get coffee in this neighborhood and Peets is on the other side of the tracks. Business opportunity here! Hurry! Today, it was barely 9 am and they were out of sausage, egg and cheddar sandwiches! Not even a busy, tourist-infested Starbucks at the entrance to Chinatown in the city would run out of imitation mcMuffins. I had to order a different sandwich that was 20 cents more. Sucked! Then, the sandwich heater-upper dude just threw the 'wich into a bag and didn't even bother finishing the packaging to comply with what the Starbucks branding police specified. Where's my black bellyband sticker thing? Sloppy! Anyway, I wanted to park my ass there with my laptop while waiting for my car which was in the shop nearby getting its rearend checked out...But there's no free wifi, except for tmobile's ripoff service that only people with corporate accounts sign up for. Ridiculous! And even if you have the funds to pay for a $40 per month tmobile wifi hotspot pass, good luck "working" at this location, because there's only ONE electric socket, accessible by 2 tables. Haven't met an employee yet that isn't happy to whip up a batch of extra bold life saving java for a fella in need. The 5th star goes to the wonderful girl that saved my forgotten vest for me. It's only suiting that my first ever yelp review is of Starbucks, as I've been a fan since the 1990s. I value the establishment for their efficiency, customer service, and willingness to customize drinks. Most days thinking about my tall americano or caramel macchiato helps me get out of bed. I lived at The Courtyards for about 6 years so it was wonderful having this Starbucks right downstairs. The workers were always friendly, free wi-fi to do work while I enjoyed my coffee, and the drinks were pretty consistent. One downside though, they close pretty early. read more

This place is pretty tiny with an OK amount of seating. They also have seating outside for nicer days. Plenty of outlets for laptop chargers too. Free wi-fi also.
