Really disappointed, but this location is a pig sty. The counter areas were covered with spilled milk, sugar and it was just gross. They ran out of cup sizes, were not asking the customers if they would like a particular size to replace. Having to dump product out. They filled hot coffee to the top causing it to spill or not being able to pick up. The people seemed like they didn't know who to listen to. Management at this location really need to teach the employees how to work together and to clean the place up. read more

I'm a huge fan of Peet's in general because of their emphasis on sustainable sourcing and customer service in the store and on the web. With that as the backdrop we went into the Burlingame Downtown Peet's with high expectations and were not let down. We only had to wait a bit for service and then a bit longer to have the coffee made since they 30 minute cycle had completed. The Peet's associate didn't want to inconvenience me so he just gave us the cup of large coffee for free. That was an incredibly throughful gesture that didn't cost Peet's much and scored big satisfaction points with me. The Peet's shop does a healthy clip of business and they seemed to have maximized the seatig and queue-up arrangements inside and outside the store. Kudos for Peet's. read more

Pros: Location. Coffee. That's all. Negatives: 1. Poor customer service. The baristas are unenthusiastic, often have an attitude, and generally unfriendly or professional. 2. Lack of maintenance and upkeep of cafe (Examples: overflowing trash, dirty bathrooms, supplies not resupplied). Overall, lackluster and disappointing Peet's. Baristas are hit or miss. The drinks are not consistent.. please train your staff how to do a basic cappuccino... the lattes and cappuccino are so bitter .. staff is rude and checked out. I love peet's. I definitely choose it over Starbucks, hands down, everytime. Peet's in Burlingame I refuse to go into. I've given them multiple chances and EVERY time they have been incredibly rude. I love PEET'S but I'm disappointed and frustrated with the barista who couldn't get my order right. The barista name started with an F. I asked for a add shot, extra foam, one pump mocha latte. TL;DR - Solid lattes that are better than Starbucks. This mid-peninsula area has some really sad excuses for cafes. The mom and pop places are no bueno (not my preferred style of latte, I like a frothier foam, latte art, yes, very SF). Peets can at least deliver on one of those. The foam. Creamy foam. Also, the beans here are not as acidic but you can still taste the actual coffee taste. Overall, yes. Desperate times call for desperate measures. read more

I love Peet's but this one in Burlingame just can't seem to get my drink right. I typically order a Iced Caramel Latte Machiatto and at other Peet's (I've had them from probably 10 other Peet's locations) they ALL manage to make them very tasty...strong coffee/espresso flavor but a nice balance of sweetness from the caramel. However, this Burlingame location can't seem to figure it out. Are they using a different type of bean? The coffee/espresso flavor lacks and you can never seem to taste the caramel. It's comparable to a Starbucks drink. I've given it various tries just because of it's close location but I have to remind myself to NEVER go into this Pete's ever again, it's not worth the bad experience. Aside from the bad coffee, the way the store is set up is lame, everyone is herded into the front so if it's busy, you don't know who's ordered, who's waiting and what not. Additionally, service at other Peet's is typically great and the staff here isn't nearly as friendly... Maybe when they move across the street the coffee will taste better? Doubt it. read more

Peet's your coffee has always been superior to Sbucks. Your brewed coffee knocks the socks off the best of them and your bar drinks actually taste like coffee! I love Burlingame Ave, so I might be biased. But I love how people have got their dogs outside and are smiling and saying hello to each other -- community vibe is rivaled no where on the Ave other than perhaps Il Fornaio's coffee bar. The staff here are cool. They know my name. I think I come here too often. Like any other Peet's location the coffee is fresh, the Baristas know how to make foam and pull shots (their machiens aren't those silly automated types). And they'll smile at you when they call out your name. Make sure you smile back and say thank you. The number of people who are on their cellys when picking up their drinks is pretty despicable. read more

I much prefer Peet's coffee to Starbucks, but I must say that this place is always just a total mess. One employee is always complaining about how another did something wrong. The baked goods case is only next to one register, so if you get stuck at the other, you have to run over and see what's in there, it just make no logistical sense. Whoever planned out this store did a pretty poor job. Regardless, the coffee is always good, waiting and messed up orders aside... Peet's Coffee and Tea is one of my favorite places I love to spend some time and enjoy my coffee. It's very easy to get stressed in the US and sometimes we all need just to be outside and take time for ourselves. We all know that there are so many restaurants, coffee shops in Burlingame, Downtown but Peet's Coffee is one of my favorite. I love the energetic atmosphere here. The staff is nice. The music is not too loud. They have lots of options for hand selected teas and beverages. The sofas are soft and the design of interior is more comfortable than Starbucks. There are 2 restrooms here. I have just remembered, I recently left my summer hat here and remembered when I got home. I called them and asked to keep it. I came back after two days and got my hat back I give them 5 stars for keeping my hat , kidding. I think if I enjoy to be here and relax, then this place should be marked as 5 stars. read more

Their coffee is neither good or bad, it just is. However, the bathroom at this location today was horrendous and disgusting. I've been in porta-potties that have been cleaner and smelled better. Wet paper (toilet, paper, and toilet protectors) everywhere. Yet none in toilet paper or paper towel dispensers. And pee... everywhere. Shockingly gross. read more

Quick and friendly staff. The place is clean. Even the restrooms were clean and they have separate ladies and men's restrooms. There are plenty of tables and outlets to charge your phone or laptop. The location is good, right on the corner of the main drag but it gets windy there. The doors kept getting blown open so the crosswind blew napkins and coffee lids every where. read more

Love the larger new corner location of one of my favorite avenues in the West Coast. So many memories on Burlingame Ave, ahh. I'm quite the coffee connoisseur and I really don't understand how people go the Starbucks down the street instead. First off that Starbucks is filled with locale high schoolers and just super packed and uncomfortable. Meh, this Peet's really blows it out of the water. So the location and vibe totally owns Starbucks on the block and on top of that the barista's here are super courteous and affable. Ahh. Love it. Ok, if that isn't enough the coffee, freddos, etc are all so flavorful and rich. Love it. Check it out! A downside is that they don't have much outside seating, but Burlingame Ave is a great place to just take a stroll anyways, so what's the need?! Remember Peet's over Starbucks. I have worked from here... the outside space is rickety, and there isn't enough room. It is next to an apple store, and we all know what sort of "types"* you get in an apple store... so that is something you have to deal with. I don't make a habit of reviewing a chain, but this is a good shop with decent coffee, especially for Peet's. I think I am reviewing it because this is a chain where community actually happens... and you can get work done, chat with a friend, or join in to a conversation about local and impacting events. You know: about $3 for a large cup of iced tea just seems to be too much. Yea, I know this is a coffee place, but guys, this is brewed tea leaves and water, not super-duper Kopi Luwak coffee beans that came out of some small civit-like Sumatran animal's behind that then was painstakingly collected by hand, cleaned [oh this was certainly a must--I mean who thought of doing this? They must have been like really itching for coffee BAD and said "Oh look, see that small animal pooping? I betcha there's great coffee there!"] and dried and finally micro-roasted to get that wonderful flavor that only an intestinal journey can convey to a lowly bean. Umm, what was I saying? Oh yes: This is Iced TEA and is at least 1/2 ice so why is this $3? Other than that small rant, this is a nice place for a premium cup of coffee. read more

Don't get me wrong, I like Peet's. There are two things that are pet peeves here, though. First, I find it slightly awkward that they serve you the finished boiling-lava-hot (or ice-cold) beverages without caps -- the patrons must apply them elsewhere! This the only Peet's I've been to where this is the case. Second, and this is in comparison to the San Carlos Peet's, when a beverage gets out of stock or sold out, it is not listed as such on the menu. It gets marked like that in San Carlos... Typically, you'll find that folks in the bay area are in two camps, fans of Peet's or fans of Starbucks. I'm a Peet's fan. It's not that Starbucks is bad, it's just that Peet's is so much better. Peet's serves up a consistent, flavorful cup of joe. Strong, but never bitter or burnt. They also have an awesome selection of teas. And for me, the pastries they serve here are good without being too sweet. I also like that they have a sugar free mocha option. For beans to take home, I'm a big fan of Arabian Mocha Java. Sometimes on my way to Peet's in the morning, I sing this song (to the tune of "Misty" by Johnny Mathis). It's coffeeee... It helps you wake up when your tired and sleepyyyyy... I'm so happy that Peet's finally left their previous location (1309 Burlingame Avenue). Many good things come with this new location and I welcomed these changes: no more cramped lines, no more lack of seating (relatively) and more outlets!! The place feels bigger even though it's probably narrower. I think this may have to do with the brighter track lighting. The design and layout seem more clean (lots of white and art on the wall) and thought out. As a tea lover, I also really appreciate the alcove dedicated for the loose leaf tea selection. Unfortunately, they didn't extend their hours (considering how busy it gets) to challenge Starbucks. But the exceptional service that Pete's continues to negate those negatives. Hopefully they'll figure it out soon enough. Although the lines may become longer than before (if that's possible), is it worthy of the changes made. Starbucks will need to worry, because Peet's is ready to unseat them as the top coffee shop on Burlingame Avenue!! read more

Again last Saturday, I had a chance to satisfy my love for Peets coffee with a visit to this location after having lunch at a restaurant nearby in downtown Burlingame. This is the first time I visited this location. Few years ago I patronized them when they were on the same block as the Apple store. The patrons that day outnumbered the number of tables, both inside and outside. The good thing is that there's a bench in front of the Apple store for me to sit and enjoy the coffee. =) Another thing I noticed that day is that the small coffee here is $1.80 (similar to other Peets I visited recently). When I visited the Starbucks inside the San Francisco Airport Marriots, their small coffee was $2.70. That's makes them a better deal. I need to pay attention and see if all Starbucks are more expensive or just that one. read more

The staff here are very friendly, despite the fact that my friend and I were being very indecisive. The guy cashing me out was kind enough to help choose a cookie for me that my friend wanted. I love it when places do that because the employees should know the food and drinks they sell. We probably seemed like two annoying teeny boppers talking really loud, but I'm grateful that these employees were very friendly and welcoming. Makes a difference. read more

This Peet's locale is very busy. Friendly but it gets very crowded. I looked for the key-chain size gift cards. Not to be found. I do hope that Peet's brings those gift cards back and has them at all their locations. Those key-chain size gift cards are a great idea. read more

Today was my first time trying out Peet's. I ordered a caramel latte. *sigh* so the corny joke is, is that they made my coffee like I like my men (semi-sweet, strong and smooth) *yeah yeah, I know...* Anyway, jokes aside, the place was quiet on a late monday afternoon and the staff was nice. This is one of my favorite Peet's locations and the only one in my experience so far to deliver latte art! I love it! The people here are funny and considerate in addition to being skilled at producing artful and tasty beverages. This is a very busy location, but it's still comfy. There is an amazing cushioned bench area that creates a nice little corner window nook; perfect for daydreamers and longstayers like me. ;) Please do be patient if the line is long; it goes quicker than you might think, and your drink will be worth it! read more

Look, folks. You can't nor should you assume we Peetniks all hail from your fair town of Burlingame and know which door to enter and line up for your awesome coffee. I agree with Gelen C.'s review. Most of the other Peet's locations have some indicator (rope lined)where you line up for coffee orders. I walk in the front door and proceed to the drink order counter. Snarky couple with baby stroller says, "There's one line!" Oh, okay, so I slink back to the coffee bean line. Meanwhile, people are entering from the side door and sidling up to the drink order line and place their order. WTH! get it together Peet's of Burlingame Ave. invest in a rope line and order will be restored, not to mention we loyal customers will be appreciative, Sheesh! read more
