Oh Peet, you silly goose you!! Did you really think you could store coffee in a 1986 decanter and serve it as fresh coffee to a guy with a nose this size? A guy with an Elite Yellow badge on his imaginary name tag?? In 2016 nonetheless? Well, it appears as though the answer to these seemingly hideous questions is YES!!! Short story time. I am a pourover guy. Have been for a number of years. Occasionally, I need a cup of coffee and I completely understand that Peet's doesn't get busy with the pourover (you really should put those "baristas" to work Peet) so, I lower the standards and expectations. Today, which is not the first time, but now will be the last time, I order my coffee and the gal steps over to the 1986 decanter and starts pumping away. No. Way!!! Please, no!!!! Yep. She done did it. The ginormous coffee pot y'all have works perfectly fine in a pinch. I even like that you have fire sprinklers raining down hot water on the semi stale coffee. But, decanter coffee isn't good in any situation unless it's free. At work, if you really need coffee and they have a decanter, drink at your own risk. When I pay $2.05, I need the coffee to have been fresh in the last few hours. I hate that Peet's has dinged me so many times at so many different locations becuase I like the coffee, most of the time. It's sad when I have to avoid places that I once enjoyed, but Peet's is steering the bus in that direction and clearly they are ok with us going up the street to Philz. read more

This is one happening Peet's. Always packed and rather noisey. However, because it's right smack in the middle of downtown Burlingame, I come here pretty damn often. It's like a regular Peet's except dirtier; I'm not saying that to be mean but every time I come here, the table's must be wiped off or the seats cleaned with a napkin. Additionally, I find it kind of odd that Peet's has their bakery exposed--I've seen many a fly around their bakery items so I'd wish they'd seal them in a display case because they look good to eat but I'd rather not chance it! To be fair, almost every other Peet's does the same thing with the open air bakery thing. It's actually nice to see a coffee shop other than Starbucks or Philz so busy! I was always happy if I need coffee and Peet's is open :) Don't know why, but I'm becoming a Peet's Lover making Starbucks friends go nuts :) We came in and the first thing that I liked - the atmosphere - totally relaxing, music was really good :) We checked in on Yelp with my friend and saw that we will be eligible to get a small discount of 1$ if we'll purchase a new drink - Mayan Mocha (with cinnamon) or Hot Chocolate. Not that big, but still cool :) You can also ask for a Mayan Hot Chocolate if you don't want shots. We got Vanilla Latte with Mayan HC and these two were the best drinks in the whole universe! This is only my second time at any Peet's Coffee and Tea so I wasn't really sure what beverage to get, took me a while to decide. I'm use to getting a Grande Soy Vanilla Creme from Starbucks! After reading the list of beverages a few times, I narrowed it down to two choices -- a medium eggnog vanilla latte or a medium Masala chai latte... I got the eggnog, reminds me of the holidays :-)! The workers were not very friendly, training in costumer service should be required! I also thought the wait was a bit long since they only had one guy making all the drinks, there was also a long line of people wanting to get their caffeine fix for the day. Seem to be kids friendly -- I liked the kids menu... I'm interested in trying the peppermint hot chocolate. I love love love peets but I am shocked at their attitude towards flies on their pastry display!! I guess in most peets the pastries are in an enclosed glass case. In this store they are out in the open. I informed the cashier there were flies crawling on the bagels. He stopped just long enough to shoo the fly away and said "there's nothing we can do about that". Eeww. Call me a germaphobe but I like to know that my food hasn't been crawled over. I've visited this location in the past, but was extremely disappointed with the extremely slow service during my visit yesterday. Initially, there was only one cashier. Then an older man (Peet's employee) came out and apologized for the slow service and thanked the patrons for understanding. Within 10 minutes, the same man apologized again and thanked the patrons for waiting patiently. Instead of apologizing, he should have just opened up the other cash register to speed the movement of the line. It turns out there were four employees working. Not sure why service was still slow!! I ordered a medium coffee and latte and had to follow-up with one of the cashiers for my medium coffee. I should've just went to Philz. Even though they always have a line, at least their service is quicker. read more

I've been to this one a few times and I have never had a bad experience. The service is fast and they are friendly which is nice. The coffee is good too. Dirty cups, dirty bathrooms, dirty floors are often the problem at some locations but at this busy store it was over-pulled (extracted) espresso. About 4 PM. This Peet's is centrally located along the Burlingame downtown shopping strip. It is always a bit busy but they get you your coffee drink at a reasonable pace after you order. Pros include outdoor seating, lots of indoor cushioned bench seating, bathrooms available for customers, and Wi-Fi. The biggest con during my visit read that the place was a little disheveled... Mostly needing a staff member to tend to the milk /condiment station and picking up a bit of the paper waste on the tables. I was able to grab a seat easily at 4pm on a Friday and the decaf black tie ice coffee I got was great. Overall, if you are walking along Burlingame downtown and crave a coffee/tea this is a good place to pop in. read more

Good coffee shop in Burlingame. Probably the best coffee shop to go sit and get some work done. I never have trouble getting a table here and there are plenty of outlets. Their coffee is pretty standard and good. I have never tried their pastries. But their plain Iced Coffee is pretty solid. WOW. I am a Peet's lover but this is the worst location I have ever been to by far! It makes the slow baristas at the San Francisco West Portal location look like saints. Although they are slow, at least they are cheerful and make your drink correctly! First, the cashier taking my order acted like she hates her job. I am pretty sure she does, along with the rest of her miserable life. For fuck's sake, at least YOU HAVE A JOB and you're making money ok? Geezus. Secondly, she got the order wrong. When the boyfriend mentioned to the barista that made our drinks that he ordered his latte ICED, she grumbled all crankily under her breath. I've worked at a Peet's before. I was once a barista.. Burlingame Peet's has moved! The new space is a gracious, well-lighted space -- with ample seating and friendly staff (and the bathroom is conveniently located and not through that long wasted-space hallway like at the old location). Although Burlingame Ave seems like it was dying a slow death (where are the people?), I'm pleased to see that Peet's has a new corner location and is giving Starbucks across the way a serious run for world dominance (or at least coffee dominance of the Burlingame population). And, so, I dedicate review #400 to one of my favorite coffee places, Peet's Coffee and Tea. read more

Peet's serves up the best coffee around. It is definitely my coffee of choice if I saw a few other cafes in the same area. I don't think I have ever been disappointed in a Peet's before. This location is pretty large compared to their previous location down the block. It's right across from the Apple Store (which I also love), so it gives me the perfect chance to grab a cup o' joe after I have had my Apple fix. Lots of tables inside and several outside as well. Nice spot to lounge and revitalize in between hitting Burlingame Avenue for shopping, or grab a cup before you hit the Farmers Market that opens up every Saturday morning (same block). read more

The employees here are always so.nice. I've used the yelp check in deal a couple of times no sweat. This location can get busy; at times we've had a hard time securing our corner window couch. You guys are harsh! I love Peet's in general and vow never to darken the burnt and bitter doorway of a Starbuck's again...except in dire emergency (like a Sunday Morning in SOMA when everything else seems closed). At the Burlingame store, if you sit outside or close to the window, keep pure thoughts and breathe like a yoga master--you'll probably pick up a wireless signal from the Apple store next door. Make sure you keep your coffee cup on the downstream side; your reach will break the signal. And yes, the strollers and the screaming kids are part of being in Burlingame. Welcome to the burbs, o city dweller. One advantage here is that if you jam the head of a screaming toddler into a pitcher of milk, it comes out nice and frothy for your latte. The same technique occasionally works better if you do use the yapping head of a non-disciplinarian parent. read more

So um, its nostalgic and stuff. This one gets weird and busy and burlingame moms have too much money and crave attention. I'd advise avoiding Burlingame Ave. in general... but if you must, you've still got Peets. Also the seating layout is weird how it situates all its patrons towards the front of the shop. This is a really convenient location, the people that work at this location are friendly and helpful. Good choices of food. Unlike most places you do not have to waste a plastic top, you get your drink without one if you choose. The only downside is that there can often be a line, because it is a popular coffee shop. read more

While shopping on Burlingame, we decided to make a stop at Peet's for some caffeine boost. The store was busy as every table was occupied and the line to order almost stretched to the door. With two cashiers, the waiting time was not too long. The cashier was friendly and efficiency filled our drip coffee order. A point of note, I used the restroom and it was pretty dirty. I wish I could give more stars, but I just can't. I have to be honest, I was sincerely disappointed with my last experience here. I tried to give this Peet's Coffee & Teas another chance this past weekend. The cashier AND barista were both so sad-looking and not friendly at all. I'm convinced they poured some of their negative energy into my peppermint drink that day - it tasted horrible and medicine-y). They needed caffeine intake intravenously. Plus, if you're gonna take a while to take my order when I'm the next one in line, all I ask is that you acknowledge me - I don't appreciate being ignored. That star is solely for the hazelnut blueberry muffin - aside from the fact that it's delicious in the most wicked way, I appreciate the fact that their muffins do not have paper muffin wraps attached to them. Wow ... some harsh reviews of this Peet's. Granted I think all Peet's feel a little dirty and have that curdled milk smell, but nothing beats a well made Peet's latte. They put every other coffee shop in the area to shame. I had great service this afternoon and a customized latte. The barista even asked me to taste it to see if I wanted more syrup. Very nice. As far as the screaming children and strollers go, I think that is just par for the course in Burlingame. The extremely non Feng Sui orientation of this Peet's compounds the problem for sure. My advice is to miss the morning rush and catch an afternoon pick me up when the line is not out the door and the baristas actually have time to pay attention to your drink order. read more

Get your Freddo on boys, summertime is around the corner. I was chilling in the neighborhood on Saturday and got too hot. From the sun. I have been so used to the cool winter, cloudy rainy weather that some real sun got me too warm. So in I stroll to this Peet's Coffee &Tea. Some of my faves were working, actually I am easy. If they smile, they are my fave. I ordered a chocolate freddo, and I was not disappointed. Nice and chilly, but don't drink too fast or you get a huge pain in the middle of your chest. Was super happy to duck in here on a recent rainy day. This is an excellent location - a huge space right on the corner with plenty of room for standing or sitting. The staff was friendly and efficient, even despite a medium-sized line. I find that most Peet's employees know their stuff, and these folks followed suit. I got my perfect cup of tea and snaked a lovely spot by the window. It was nice and cozy inside the shop, and I enjoyed the redolent aromas of fresh coffee and tea being made as I watched the rain fall outside. Hooray for Peet's! read more

Thanks for moving and getting a nice big space that actually makes sense. The layout is so much better because their last location actually would piss me off. No, you can pretty much wait without being in anyone's way. Now, if they would just be open later, have faster service and smile every now and then, we'd be in business. I think they need 2 baristas on the machine on weekends. Maybe some non-classical music would be nice, like some smooth jazz. I'm not a big jazz fan but geez, something other than sleepy, quiet classical would be nice. Now that there's some place to sit that's not all chopped up and in the way, it's better. One thing though, I can see already that the "beans" line and the "drinks" line are hard to distinguish from each other. Are they really taking over the sushi place too? Wonderful. Now consider some more comfy seating. Bascially, I want Starbucks but without the loud noises, all the retail space and the crappy coffee. read more
