Two months ago I was living 1500 miles away where "free indoor playground" was a string of words so delicious, so fantasmic, that my heart skipped a beat the first time I heard them uttered. But with five rambunctious kids and some rain, I've spent a good amount of time exploring the indoor playground scene here in the dfw. One's bound to make comparisons. Beyond the simple fact that it's free, the pros to this play area are: 1. Good hours (open every day, I think!) 2. Small area for babies 3. Large structure for older kids 4. Glassed in play structure 5. Cafe with inexpensive drinks 6. Plenty of seating 7. Free WiFi Not all the church indoor playgrounds are open everyday or for as long as Wesley Playground, but most do hit the other points on the list. The primary reason this is my least favorite indoor playground is the OVERWHELMING smell of potpourri in the play area. The whole church smells like an air wick, but I think they must pump it in on high through the heater vents in the play area and bathrooms. It's nauseating. Frankly, between the smell, the hard plastic chairs and cafeteria tables, the place screams "retirement home". I wasn't surprised to see a few wheelchairs in the corner by the front entrance. I'm still immensely grateful that the church has created a space like this and offered free access to the public, but unless they take that smell down a notch I don't think we will be back.

Unfortunately, she wasn't tall enough for several of the other attractions, but that just gives us a reason to come back when she's a little older. The attraction has plenty of hands-on building activities, colorful displays, and a well-stocked LEGO store. The kid-friendly concessions were reasonably priced, making it easy to grab a snack without breaking the bank. The play areas were relatively clean, although I didn't notice staff cleaning during our visit. Overall, it's a great indoor outing for young LEGO fans, especially on a hot Texas day.

When if finally opened, most of the guns did not work. The little car ride only had 3 cars working. The display with Dirk Nowinski (really) and AT & t stadium had NOTHING in it about FIFA. Most of the buttons to light up displays did not work either. The race car shoot broke while we were there, I reported it, but no one came to repair it. The staff were friendly, and there was no shortage of team members, and the gift shop was neat and tidy. I feel like management needs to take a hard look at the rides and activities if they want it to be more than just a lego building place. There were PLENTY of Lego Displays for the kids to enjoy, and the restrooms were pretty well kept. It was jam packed full of people by the time we left, and we got there right when it opened at 10am. Check in is a breeze. You tell the nice lady behind the counter your name and kids name and they give you a sticker. If it's your first time you simply fill out a form and then get the same sticker. Shoes have to remain on and it is located inside what looks to be a mega church! Ample parking and very nice parents who go there.

The sweet spot for this playground is probably 3-6 years, but there is plenty to do for the younger ages too. The max age for entry is 10. There are slides, climbing areas, and a rubber-bottomed hill for the kids to run up and roll down. Despite being fully closed in, the play area is bright and doesn't feel cramped at all (in comparison to Irving Bible Church's THE TUBES). Everything was exceptionally clean. The playground is open M-F from 10a-4p. It is free and open to the public, but you must check in at the desk in front of the play area before entering. No food or drinks in the play area and children MUST wear shoes. This was a bit of a drive for us, so I packed a lunch and after the kids had their fill of the playground, we headed over to the indoor eating area on the opposite side of the church ("The Commons") to eat. (PRO TIP: for the 4-10 age range, check out The Tubes at Irving Bible Church). It looked and smelled clean and had comfortable bench seating on the outside for parents. The hours are a bit tricky - I saw a variety of hours posted online and when I tried to call and confirm no one answered. My impression is that they are open at least the same hours as the cafe, which according to their website is Tu/We 9am-2pm, but they may be open other times as well. I was there on a Thursday morning and it was open. If I ever find a concrete answer I'll come back here and update my review. UPDATE: Hours are: Saturday 9a-8p Sunday ?-3:00pm Monday & Friday CLOSED Tues-Thurs 9a-9p
