Food bill itemized
Stephanie R.

Sadly I can not recommend this very cute restaurant. Lovely decor and a very nice owner, but the food and service are just simply not what I had expected. Overpriced and some foods very blah just too bland while others over salted. Guac needed salt and the bean burrito had so much it literally made me sick! Happy to attach itemized bill as this is crazy!! 18$ for a bean and cheese burrito that literally had 2 bites taken before getting sick on stomach. I did not complain about food as I had already had issue with the AC blowing on us, so I just didn't want to be "that lady". Margaritas were purchased at bar and were acceptable, just pricey!! Server acted as if we were causing an inconvenience to him having to serve us. And we were very nice to him! Again I am sad to have to leave this review but I feel others should be aware.

We enjoyed our meal here. The menu had a lot of options and my margarita was delicious. That being said everything was good but not memorable. We shared the elote appetizer and they offered to cut it off the cob-a nice touch. But the amount of raw onion with it was a bit overwhelming. The grilled chicken didn't have a lot of seasoning and while everything tasted fine it was no better or worse than other Mexican chain restaurants. Our server was nice and they have a large outdoor patio. They also do not take reservations so go early.

Pedro's is always a solid choice for dinner in the port. Typically always pretty busy, but they have nice outdoor seating area to have a drink and wait. Service can be iffy at times -- we waited over 15 minutes at our table before being seen by any waiter. Once he arrived, he was great tho! Strawberry hibiscus marg was tart and refreshing, classic marg is reliable and cheap. Strong too! We started with the chips and guac, which was really really good chunky guacamole. For food, I got the fish tacos. Fish wasn't too flavorful but I added some of the leftover guac on top which made it fantastic. My mom got the carnitas tacos, which I thought were a lot better and tastier. Overall, we always leave Pedro's well-fed, perfectly tipsy, and happy!

Chips with gauc and salsa

If you're going during peak summer time make sure you go early, otherwise you'll wait for at least an hour and a half. Once we were finally sat we waited almost 10 minutes for a server to come and greet us. We understand it's hard when really busy but we weren't even acknowledged by a server until then. The skinny margarita was good and pretty strong once we finally got it. The 3 cheese queso was thick but ok flavor; basically just partially melted cheese. Salsa was good and fresh. The guacamole was ok, not much flavor and mostly giant chunks of whole avocado. Steak Tacos - steak good grilled seasoned flavor. Soft taco shell toasted and very crunchy. Not much flavor on its own. There is cheese melted on tortilla as base of taco which was cool. You have to pay $4 more for sides and they were definitely not worth it. The beans were spicy but had no flavor otherwise. The rice was crunchy and lots of sauce on them but again not much flavor. The restaurant had a cool atmosphere and was fun but overall not too impressed.

Good food, nice atmosphere- came for lunch. Indoor and outdoor seating. The street corn is delicious and worth getting as an app.

Fun, festive decor greats you from the second you approach Pedro's. On two separate visits, I tried the classic margarita and the strawberry margarita and both were fantastic. The strawberry hibiscus was definitely a fun twist, but for a classic marg, you can't go wrong with their house made approach. The chips and combination of salsa, guacamole, and queso were exactly what we needed for an afternoon snack!

Delicious white queso (was a special, but I'm hoping they keep it around!!)

Unfortunately, food was not great. We were craving Mexican and it's hard to get Mexican food in the area. This did not do it.

Now you can't tell by looking at me but born raise form my mom who doesn't speak English so I grew up in Mexican food, authentic Mexican food. So always the test is the beans that's right Mexican know what I'm talking about. A true Mexican restaurant makes good beans. So I ordered my combination. I speak a few Spanish words to the waiter. He kinda looked at me funny. And he asked me about how I knew how to speak Spanish. Well, I told him I was half Mexican. I told him I will be testing the beans that's the true test. Well they passed. The beans were amazing. The chili rellino were amazing. The tamale was great. For all the white people out there this is good Mexican food for all the Mexicans. It's good enough for you to dine. Enjoy.

I was really looking forward to a yummy authentic Mexican food meal after reading the reviews. But…read moreI was pretty disappointed with the food overall. Full disclosure this is for takeout so maybe it's a better experience inside. Speaking of inside, the ambience of the restaurant was fine. Not too crowded but a handful of patrons. The decor was cute and the music was a nice touch. I ordered a combination plate with a cheese enchilada and a chicken taco with a hard shell. I selected refried beans and Mexican rice as my sides. The sides were tasty. The enchilada was fine but the cheese tasted like American cheese, and the taco was disappointing. I expected a homemade fried hard shell but instead It was something from the grocery store and hardly filled with chicken. A homemade taco shell and more filling would go along way. Plus adding toppings like sour cream and pico-I believe those could be added for an extra cost. My husband ordered the fajita nachos. He said they were good but I was a little thrown off by the American cheese sauce instead of the more traditional melted jack and cheddar cheese for nachos. I really enjoyed their chips and salsa. Check this place out for yourself!

The owners lead by example, welcoming every guest with warm smiles and true hospitality. Knowing they prioritize locally sourced ingredients only made us appreciate the experience even more and left us excited to return. The croquettes were light, crispy, and full of flavor. While the fondue wasn't our favorite, it's easy to understand why it graced nearly every table around us. My partner declared the steak frites the best he's ever had--and those fries absolutely lived up to the praise. As for my haddock Wellington, words don't quite do it justice. Crispy yet delicate, light yet deeply flavorful--it was one of those dishes you keep thinking about long after the meal ends. I already can't wait to have it again. Until next time, Chez Rosa.

Since a storm was rolling in and our trip was winding down, we intentionally planned ahead and saved half of our entrees (the 12 oz ribeye approx $68 and the half-chicken approx $36) to take home for the next couple of days. We also ordered a couple oysters $4/oy, $26 cheese fondue as an app and ordered two drinks. Unfortunately, at the end of the dinner, the staff accidentally threw our leftovers in the trash instead of boxing them up. What followed was a masterclass in poor service recovery. We watched the staff and waiter huddle around the computer, visibly stumped, for over 20 minutes. Finally, the owner came over and offered to comp our cheese fondue ($26) and toss in a complimentary chocolate dessert. Given that half of our expensive entrees were gone due to their negligence, we countered that discounting the ribeye and chicken by 50% would be far more appropriate. They agreed, but it then took another 30 minutes just to get the check. What bummed us out the most wasn't just the mistake, accidents happen, it was how poorly management handled it. It shouldn't have been up to the guests to negotiate fair reparations for food the restaurant literally threw away. A truly high-end establishment would have immediately remade the discarded dishes or comped the affected meals without hesitation. Instead, the owner seemed indifferent, and we left feeling deflated and exhausted/annoyed/offended by the lowball rather than excited. We won't be returning any time soon.
