View of the building from the parking lot (I entered on the left side and went to the testing center via the elevators)

I took the MCAT here back in April and meant to write a review sooner, but am just getting around to it. In the days leading up to my exam I read through a lot of the Yelp reviews to set my expectations, and they really helped me so hopefully my review will help other MCAT/other exam takers! I should also add that about a week prior to my test date, I came to the testing center (just outside in the hallway - I didn't enter the actual testing center unit) to confirm I was familiar with the specific floor/location, bathroom situation, etc. It may seem like overkill, but taking the exam was stressful enough as-is and it helped ease some of my nerves about the logistics of my test day. While I'd rather do just about anything than take the MCAT, testing aside, my experience at the center was lovely. Check-in was prompt, the lockers were easy to use (I brought a reusable shopping bag with a large water bottle, extra jacket, musubi, and wallet, and everything fit easily in the locker), and all of the employees were so kind and supportive. I had to bring my phone with me since I was dropped off and had to coordinate my pickup afterwards, so the check-in person had me fully turn it off and put it in a tamper-evident plastic bag. I kept it at the back of my locker and didn't touch it throughout the day, and at the end they confirmed I hadn't opened it before they cut it open. I could only bring my glasses, ID, and locker key into the room. I kept my hair tied up in a bun so it was out of my face and to make the security checks more straightforward. It's test-specific, but for the MCAT I was provided with a wet-erase notebook and pen, and all of my equipment worked well. I was offered those yellow foam earplugs and every station had earmuffs (like what construction workers wear - they were basically over-ear headphones that didn't play any sound). We sat at computers (separated with barriers) that lined the U-shaped wall inside and the proctors sat outside the room watching us from behind through glass. When I reached a break between sections or needed to take a bathroom break, I'd raise my hand and a proctor would quickly come help me check out of the room. I'd do a security check every time I re-entered the testing room, which consisted of a quick palm scan, taking my glasses off, and showing my neck/arms/etc. The bathrooms are outside of the testing center unit in the hallway (same floor, just a few feet away from the door to the testing center). The building was quiet and comfortable, though I was glad to have two jackets because I ended up using them both due to the AC. There were no windows in the testing room so I was never distracted by anything outside. The main highlight for me was the employees/proctors - when I envisioned my MCAT test day in the years/months leading up to it, I never expected to feel so much support from strangers at the testing center! There were about 4 employees I interacted with throughout the day and they were all great. They'd quietly cheer for me when I finished a section, I had a nice non-test-related conversation with one of them during a break (which really helped me de-stress and shake off the trauma of the bio/biochem section I just finished lol), and I was congratulated multiple times as I left the center after completing the exam. I was at a low point: sleep-deprived, overwhelmed, and anxious on my test day, and the proctors/staff at the Pearson Center made my experience 100x better by being kind, supportive people. One last thing to note that some people may not care about but is worth mentioning anyway: I'm immunocompromised and was nervous about having to take a 7.5 hour exam indoors. I stayed masked the whole time, and really appreciated that a good amount of the employees were also wearing masks (especially since some of them had to get close to whisper in the testing room or do the security check). I'm not sure if these employees are still wearing masks or if they'll continue to do so in the future, but I was very grateful to feel safe on my testing day!

I really appreciated how they told me "best of luck" or "good luck" before going in and taking my exam.

My previous tax consultant of 20 years passed away in late summer of 2025. I started searching for another tax consultant in Hawaii and I came across Wicklund Financial Services. All the reviews were positive and glowing. I also found other services too. I settled on trying Wicklund Financial Services and have never regretted it. I was concerned because my tax returns involve California, Maryland and Hawaii tax returns. I was concerned that they wouldn't be able to help me. Working with Reyn Wicklund, it was clear he understood how to prepare my tax return. He asked all the right questions and uploading all the documents via Tax Dome securely made things so much easier and faster. It also helped me to organize my tax documents as Tax Dome guides you through the various documents needed as well as give you the opportunity to add additional documents outside of the usual categories. By the way, I don't live in Hawaii. I live in Maryland, but that didn't matter. Reyn was able to complete my tax return remotely in a very timely manner without any problems. I will continue to use Wicklund Financial Services. Reyn is extremely knowledgeable, responds quickly to questions and concerns, keeps you updated on the progress of your tax return and is a pleasure to work with. I highly recommend Wicklund Financial Services for your tax returns. I am sure they are equally skilled in Financial planning and other services. The entire staff are friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, very responsive to questions, concerns and inquiries and very easy to work with.

She was knowledgeable about starting a small business with an LLC, so I will give her that, but after working with her more, my husband and I have decided she's just not what our business is looking for, especially since we are now growing. We were happy with her service in the start but overtime it was just not up to par. Yes, she can advise on how to start an LLC on our own and do our tax returns, but that is it. If you are looking for someone to help you plan ahead for your business for tax strategies and tax planning, this may not be the place. We only ever heard from her for our returns and that was it. Upon going with another company, we also discovered some forms we did not file but were supposed to, which Kara did not inform us of. For tax returns, there is a portal to download your documents, but there is no "list" or things that we should consider uploading, so it can be a lot of back and forth on- send your expenses, send your mortgage, send this and that or cannot finalize return, etc. It just seems unorganized and if you're dreading taxes, this will make it worse. I also had a return for a different state in 2022 that was not filed (unsure why a different company omitted it). However, I decided to do it independently since Kara mentioned there would be a nominal fee if she did it because she does not know about another state's filing regulations. I asked the previous accounting company if it would cause any problems since it was omitted, and they said it would be ok since the IRS has a matching system and will send us a notification if anything was excluded so we could wait for that. Upon getting the notification, we can decide whether to make an amendment. Kara failed to mention that part. We felt she just wanted us to spend more money to have her do it or something. We moved from MY Personal CPA to her because yearly we would get a different tax preparer so we thought if we went with a smaller company (First Choice Accounting) we would get more personalized help but going with a one person team means getting emails at odd times like late at night and getting missed. Also, even though I did not go with Kara submitting my out of state return, I got charged a one-time $150 fee for Kara reviewing the 2022 tax return which I was not aware of. She was not upfront about the fact that there would be a charge when she asked if I could send her my 2022 return so she could look at it to figure out why the other state W2 was omitted. When I brought up that I was not expecting a charge, she did not reply to me. Finally, she always apologizes for responding late. Her cat got spayed, stayed up late, and was busy. You call her, and she doesn't pick up, but she will reply via email which increases more of the back and forth. This pretty much sums up why we are going with someone else even if we have to pay $400 to part from her since she said she already worked on our return even though she was still asking for documents and more clarification.

Just want to show all potential employers the type of "security guard" they will receive if they go with API. Lots of harassment, zero identification or training. I have posted this video on the Punchbowl Yelp page as well because I want others to protect themselves and be cautious around this person. A car that drove by me after this guard finally left us alone told me that he was bullied by the exact same guard! I will contact Punchbowl administration about this and contact someone at the Federal level if necessary. This is a historic site for war veterans, there is no place for discrimination, harassment, and bullying. API, this is the second time I've contacted you about this, you should be better.
