Originally we were going to go with Pearl Vision, which is just down the street from here, but the reviews scared us off and I settled on Eye Optique instead. My son had gone here for contacts a few months ago and seemed pleased with his experience and they have generally good reviews too. Scheduling our appointment online was easy and we received both confirmation and reminders about it after making it. There was plenty of availability to choose from. We scheduled our appointments back to back so that we could knock it all out at once. The doctor was great! She was professional and thorough. Both hubby and I felt comfortable with the exam and her competence. The guy working the front was also very professional and friendly. Once the glasses came in, he took his time to ensure that the fit was perfect for each of us before we left. While we spent more than we normally do at America's Best even with insurance covering a portion of it, we feel like the service and quality live up to the cost. The issue is that they don't have any cheap frames. Most options are designer names. Since we typically only get reading glasses, I will most likely just do the exam here and order frames online going forward because I'm cheap and not interested in spending big bucks on reading glasses that I hate wearing anyway, but this is no reflection on the quality of Eye Optique, which I think is top notch, and I am glad we ended up here.

This location is next door to UPS store and Baskin Robbins. You can see it off the street clearly. It's in the same shopping plaza as Chipotle and Sprouts. The parking is free and plentiful. I always dread going to any doctor but I knew that I needed a new prescription. My last eye exam was at America's Best during the pandemic so I was a year or 2 behind. This experience was one of the best Dr visits I have encountered. Dr. Boyd was extremely knowledgeable and polite. My wait time was minimal. And I received 3 different contact samples with pretty clear instructions. They do sell eyeglasses and if you don't have insurance.. it's 30% off the frames. I definitely recommend this place. According to UPS tracking, the order was delivered to the store on October 10th at 10:56 a.m. and signed for by someone with the last name Patel. When I arrived on October 11th to pick up my glasses, no one in the store could locate them. A staff member named Chad was the only person who truly tried to help--he searched the Optical Department, the receiving area, and even brought in Tasha, a Team Leader from Customer Service. Despite their efforts, my order was nowhere to be found. Another staff member, possibly an assistant manager, confirmed they had checked all deliveries and said no one named Patel even works there. So, if UPS shows the glasses were signed for and no one on staff claims responsibility, the only reasonable conclusion is that my $600 glasses were stolen after delivery. I asked for a refund, and was directed back to the Optical Department. That's when things went from bad to unbelievable. Jasmine, the employee there, refused to contact Target Optical's online or corporate support to help resolve the issue--she simply told me I'd have to wait until Monday. When I calmly asked her to make an effort to reach someone who could assist, she refused. Then, instead of offering any customer service, she called Security and had me removed from the store. I was escorted out for doing nothing more than asking for help with a missing $600 order that was confirmed delivered. The security guard even admitted, "You're being asked to leave just because they asked you to leave." Meanwhile, Chad confirmed I had done absolutely nothing wrong. The lack of accountability here is astounding. My order didn't just "go missing"--it was clearly delivered, signed for, and disappeared under Target's watch. Chad and Tasha deserve credit for trying to do the right thing, but the rest of the experience was a disgrace. Target Optical and Target's Perimeter management need to investigate how an expensive order could be delivered, signed for, and never reach the customer--and why a paying customer was treated so poorly when asking for help.

Many thoughts so I will summarize:…read more PRIMARILY: DO NOT USE THIS PRACTICE!!! The doctors may be good but everything else is a train wreck. At the suggestion of the doctor's surgical coordinator I changed my health insurance, not an easy process, to allow "In Network" care. After a few visits preparing for Cataract surgery I was told I needed a referral from a PCP. Yes, that is common but I discussed with the same surgical coordinator and then it became an issue. More exams...eye measurements, pre op, paperwork, upgraded laser payment, etc...and I had a PCP provide a referral. The original surgery date had been rescheduled due to the insurance issue partly to blame on the surgical coordinator. After confirming a final appointment with the practice prior to surgery the surgical coordinator informed me by phone, the day before, that all that was necessary was to resign the paperwork. On the day of the appointment I arrived at the designated appointment time, checked in, and waited to be called. Thirty five minutes later I asked the front desk the status. At that point they physically took my chart to "the back" to see what was happening. Another ten minutes passed and I asked again as to the status of my appointment to sign papers. A tech arrived and the first words were "Can we reschedule for four days in the future". The surgery was scheduled for nine days from the that day. I informed her that I would be out of town until the day before surgery. I asked to speak to the Practice Manager. I was summoned to her office and asked her what was happening with my appointment. She stated she did not know. I asked how she could not know after four staff members had been involved. She had no explanation. I CANNOT trust my vision to a doctor's practice that does "NOT KNOW WHAT IS HAPPENING". Concerned, I immediately asked to cancel the procedure after five visits requiring approximately four hours of my in office time not to mention commute time, insurance time, and waiting time. When I requested a refund of the $2100.00 that I prepaid for the upgraded laser for the procedure. The Practice Manager stated it was not available. I left the office. When I reached my vehicle the surgical coordinator called and asked for me to return. The surgical coordinator claimed the issue that day was due to insurance. Everything was in order per the phone call surgical coordinator the prior day explicitly confirming all insurance was filed, confirming coverage, and stated that signing updated information was all that was needed. I informed the surgical coordinator that I cannot trust the doctor's practice given the MANY issues. Procedure cancelled. DO NOT USE THIS PRACTICE!!!

During my appointment today I interacted with Teddy, Clay & Ramone who all welcomed me with a smile & positive experience. Teddy did all my exams before I saw the doctor & she explained each exam before performing them. I appreciated that she cleaned all of the machines in front of me as you can never guarantee if they were cleaned after the last patient. My interaction with Clay was quick & easy and he introduced me to Ramone the Sales Associate to assist me in the purchasing glasses portion. However, the 7 day return policy is not flexible enough. When it comes to progressives, you need a few days to adjust to them. If there's a problem, one needs time to return to the store, find out that the prescription might be wrong, reschedule another ophthalmologist appt, and then return again with a new prescription. For people who work, it is not possible to miss so much work--or get another doctor's appointment so quickly--and return to fix the glasses. I spent a few hundred dollars for unwearable glasses because I work full-time and could not get back into the store with a new prescription within 7 days. I had to wait another year before I could address this due to insurance coverage. I recommend DHEC for standard glasses and the outstanding staff, but if you need progressives that might need some adjustments over time, you might want to consider a place with a more lenient policy.
