The lowest rating indicated above is still too high for this office. They are the most incompetent rudest individuals I've ever had to the non-pleasure of meeting. Dr. Patel is arrogant, condescending and downright rude. She could not care less about providing a good customer experience which is shameful since competition in this industry is fierce. Why am I so angry? After waiting more than 30 minutes for the tech to figure out how to write the bill and apply my insurance, THEY STILL OVERCHARGED ME -- then told me that they didn't have the receipt (it was deleted) to make the corrections. I received 2 separate receipts (8 pages of nonsense) for a basic eye exam. Neither receipt reflected the amount charged to my credit card. This was all after the tech told me she's worked for PV for more than 20 years -- could have fooled me!!!! I have spent hour trying to get a BASIC receipt for services for an exam and glasses. Basic business acumen???? Non existent. Competence - Non existent. Customer Care and concern - non existent. She wont be in business long with incompetent staff and her negative attitude and good riddens. The saddest part, she doesn't seem to realize that treating her customers in this manner is not good for her business. The purchase I'd plan to make when I returned will not happen. I witnessed her nastiness when I was in the office toward others and should have realized then that she's not worth dealing with. Buyer beware. Check your receipts BEFORE you leave the office. If you want a positive experience GO SOMEWHERE ELSE because I will never go there again. The new office is nice but trust me, it stops there!!!!! read more

During my eye exam, I learned a lot about progressive eyewear from Dr. Patel. The staff was great and Jeff was very helpful. It took me a long time to pick a frame. My daughter and I was able to come in as often as needed before choosing the right frames. I'm currently adjusting to the new eyewear and was told I can come back if I have any concerns. I have visited other locations, which lack in the care I received here. The staff here made me feel welcome. They are professional and made me feel I was at the right place. They offer each client the opportunity to change the frame within 30 day. This reassured me I was making a good choice. read more

The staff here is great. They get your contacts quickly and will work worth distributor to get your products quicker if need be. Even if you seem a little testy they maintain their cool. Plus they dress up on Halloween, cool. read more

I had a great appointment with Dr. Patel here. The whole team was really friendly, and spent plenty of time helping me pick out frame. They have great advice for fit, wear, and comfort. The frame selection was pretty massive, with plenty of styles to chose from. read more

Dr Patel is the most thoughtful and considerate eye doctor I've ever seen. She listens carefully to ascertain your specific needs and strives to meet expectations while balancing realistic goals for optimal sight. read more

I bought my glasses elsewhere and lost a screw. The nice folks gave me a new screw and fixed them for free. I'll be back for my next purchase. read more

Stay away from this con-artist. She is very unprofessional and is only interested in her own gain. She's a disgusting excuse for an "eye professional". I went in for an eye exam for contacts. I ordered the contacts and paid for them. They were ordered incorrectly. I called and let her know this. They ordered again. The incorrect lenses were ordered. I returned the first wrong set of lenses. I had my car detailed, and the second set were missing. I went to pick up the new lenses and she refused to give me the correct lenses, because I didn't have the other lenses. She explained that she took the loss.. All I could say was "wow"...She refused to acknowledge her error. She made the same mistake twice!!!!!!...Yes, the incorrect set of lenses were lost, but had she been competent, I would not have had the wrong lenses on the first place. So, I lost $98.00. But, I fortunately saved the other four members of my family from being exposed to her. In the meantime, I took my three children and my husband to Dean Optical downtown. They are excellent, and we are going back next week. I called my insurance company and complained about her. I was able to get another exam and lenses from Dean. What she does not know is that I won!!! I was able to get my exam and lenses via insurance without penalty. She is not a good practitioner....know your rights, and don't let someone like this try to bully you. If you are mistreated, pick up the phone and call your insurance company...they listen... read more

I was a regular customer here until Dr Patel and her new staff took over. Now I am never going back. The front of house person is rude and that was just the start of my bad experience. Even though I had an appointment, my eye exam was rushed; the prescription was not explained to me - in short, I ended up paying alot of money for something I didn't want. They don't do refunds. I'll be going elsewhere in future despite the inconvenience. read more

I've been to about 4 different Pearle Vision Chicagoland locations ever since I started wearing glasses in the 6th grade. Unfortunately my experience at this location was very poor. My visit was full of condescending comments and sarcasm from Dr. Patel which was very unappreciated. I went in for contacts and also wanted to talk about purchasing glasses but I was so ready to just end the appointment that I didn't even mention wanting glasses or asking about any promotions available. It took me nearly 2 months to close out my annual contact renewal due to office miscommunication, delayed responses and lack of availability from this location. I'm a 10 minute walk from this location but next time it's probably worth the drive to go elsewhere. Also, it's hard getting appointments at this location due to the small size of the office and only 1 doctor. My only positive is that the main receptionist was friendly and helpful. read more

I hope everyone reads the reviews before making an appointment with this location. I was a patient at this location before Dr. Patel took over the practice. I was very please prior to my new experience with Dr. Patel. My experience has been nothing but a nightmare. I have insurance that covers for an eye exam , glasses and contact lens.Dr. Patel also gave me 2 different contact lens to try. I had the eye exam and told Dr. Patel I wanted reading glasses. When I returned for the fitting of the glasses the vision was blurrie. I was told by the assistant this was what I ordered . They charged me a ridiculous price . I told them I would take them home and see if I could adjust. The frames I had initially ordered was more of a full face frame that no one would use for reading glasses because you would not be able to look over the frames when you didn't need to read. I could not adjust, they made me dizzy. I returned and then they wanted to argue with me and charge me some more money. Eventually they gave me a cheaper frame that weighted lighter but still with the same prescription, blurr. Now pertaining to the contact lens. I had my exam in April, I called today July, same year. I request my subscription for my contact lens. A assistant puts me on hold and comes back to ask me which contact lens did I like. I told him I did not remember . The assistant tells me I will have to come back in and pay 160.00 for another exam and also they cannot give me a written prescription of my previous exam. It is obvious they are hard up for money. Lack customer service and are very unprofessional. I had hoped to be able to support my community that was why I had chose them. Unless they change there unprofessional practice and services they will not be successful. The way I have been treated is like they were doing me a favor. I received glasses I cannot see out of and have been charged for them. I've been played but to come back for another eye exam, shame on me (not twice), now I know. I would like to report them to the BBB but don't want to waste anymore time and energy on them. read more

What a nightmare. My experiences here have been bad enough to motivate me to write my first review. I am always suspicious of terrible reviews of places, imagining the reviewers are a bit entitled or impatient, but here I am writing a one star review (and am not entitled or impatient). I first came here a few months ago for an eye exam and prescription eyeglasses. From the moment I arrived I got the sense from staff that they had better things to do than attend to a customer, and I was a serious annoyance. Fine, whatever. Then I meet with the eye doctor, who proceeds to very unstealthily "check me out," periodically looking at my chest and the rest of my body. This bizarre lack of professionalism, coupled with his otherwise lousy attitude and general rudeness made my eye exam something I couldn't wait to be finished with. I felt seriously uncomfortable. Fast forward to this weekend, when I drive in from the far southwest suburbs to hand in a handwritten notice for them to release my prescription. (I lost my glasses and need to order a new pair off the web). Mind you I no longer live in Hyde Park, so this trip is a huge inconvenience and not exactly a quick trip. I get there at 2:05pm, 5 minutes after they close. I indicate to the receptionist through the window that I just need to drop something off. Heck, I drove 45 minutes to get there, leaving as soon as I could. A very surly employee greets me at the door, literally shouting at my that they're closed and I need to come back Monday. I say, "I just need to turn in a signed release. You were expecting me." "I don't care why you're here! You need to come back Monday!" I am told. Then she slams the door in my face while I am speaking, and comes back, hands me a pen through a crack in the door like I'm a creepy criminal or something, then slams the door again. All in all I got to hand in my release, but while being treated like crap. What a mess. I imagine the only reason this place stays open is because Hyde Park is largely comprised of transient students who leave the area after graduating. In sum, you're better off paying for transit further away to a place with some decency. read more

I just left this establishment 40 minutes ago and the staff was very helpful. I will keep it short, I will recommend this place to anyone in the neighborhood of Hyde Park. Thanks for staying over a few minutes to make sure I was a satisfied customer. read more

I initially had no problem with Dr. Patel until recently. I should have known she was of poor character first of all when she required PA clients to make their appointments before 3pm; discrimination if you ask me. But any who, my last visit to her was not covered by the PA medical card. This was in December of 2011/12? In any case, I was left a message from her office letting me know I had a balance. I returned the call but the business person was gone for the day. And he never called me back. Thus, I forgot about the balance. Fast forward to making appointments for back to school exams and I call the office to make an appointment which sparks my memory over the balance. I inquire about it. It's $68.00, NOT $200, NOT $300, NOT $680.00, but SIXTY-EIGHT DOLLARS. So she tells me the balance needs to be paid prior to her seeing my daughters. I said okay. I want them to have an appointment made for August and I'll take care of the balance then. She said okay. I then asked her when was my last exam and she proceeded to respond, "You're due to but you DEFINITELY(laughing a little while saying this), will NOT be seen until the balance is paid." The way she said it and the tone she used was so condescending. So I told her I have real insurance coverage now and that I would call her back because had I continued the conversation at that time, it would NOT have ended pretty. So I politely called back to speak to her, but she was such a coward, she didn't get back on the phone. So I let her receptionist know that, I will make sure she gets her SIXTY-EIGHT DOLLARS, no one is trying to beat her out of SIXTY-EIGHT freaking dollars and she does not have to worry about any more business from me. I mean, does she think she's the only optometrist in Chicago? You don't have to see me or my children sweetie! We have found an AMAZING optometrist in the downtown Chicago area that DOES ACCEPT MY INSURANCE. We don't need you. Smooches! DON'T PATRONIZE THIS DOCTOR!!!! SHE IS A JERK!!!!! read more

The doctor and staff are friendly and professional. Dr. Patel has taken over the practice from Dr.Kline, and I think she is great. My family and I will continue to go here for our vision care. I recommend this location to anyone. I am totally satisfied with the care I have received. Everyone here is very courteous. read more

Dr. Patel and the staff were attentive, knowledgeable and courteous. I can't wait until my next appointment.

Fell in love with my frames so much I visited on a day when they were having buy one get another pair 1/2 off event and walked out with two more pairs. The staff is amazing, I wish they lived in my mirror so I could hear all of their beautiful words everyday. People stop me to ask about my glasses all of the time. Can't stand when I see people with the same frames as the ones I'm wearing. Not a worry with these because they're unique and they ROCK!!! If you want fly frames, you have to shop here. You won't regret it! read more

Eyewear retail and optometry places can be very ordinary, however Dr. Patel and her team of professionals have raised the bar on the eyewear game and exam. First off, the inventory of eye wear is extensive, from children to adult. The variety ranges from regular to funky designer creations and eyeglass assessories, such as cleaners, cases and eyeglass necklaces. Dr. Patel wants to make the eyewear experience exciting! Her professionals take time, from prescriptions to exact fitting for eyeglass frames. An ambiance is set with great music. Appointments are handled in a timely manner, with minimal waiting time. Dr. Patel explains all procedures performed with results and recommendations needed for perfect vision. Dr. Patel washed her hands before and after my exam. Since I am a retired nurse, I kind of look out for these things. The facilities are clean and organized. Her team gives great friendly customer service. This is a gem in Hyde Park. Need an eye exam, check out Dr. Patel and her team. You will be pleasantly surprised! read more

As soon as I walked in, I was welcomed with great reception. I did not feel overwhelmed with any sales pitches. I explained to Josephine that I was concerned about payment methods (considering my status as a college student). She quickly helped me figure out what my best approach would be, and she was genuinely helpful when I tried on all different types of frames. She even remembered my name. I was seen quickly, and Dr. Patel was so kind and effective. Jeff S too, made everything transparent and walked me through every part of the process. I ended up being able to purchase these chic Tory Burch frames + one year supply of contact lenses..they even printed a rebate form for me. Such a warm environment. On the other hand, I noticed that the space is quite small and has a few chairs, but I don't even think I had to sit considering how speedy and productive my time there was. Honestly, this is my first review. That is how genuinely moved I was. These people are awesome. read more
