Had my annual exam with Dr. Alex Marshal yesterday, and again, was very happy with the service. He explains what changes are going on with my eyes, and reassured me that there were no concerns that he found after doing the many checks needed. I moved from that area over 5 years ago, and there is another Pearl vision closer, but I am happy going out of my way to see Dr. Marshal and the friendly staff on Lincoln Avenue. read more

The last 12 years I have been Only coming in to see Dr. Alex Marshal for his expertise. My contacts are always matched perfect before I leave. Big line of glasses for all and lenses installed on site. Friendly ladies, Willie and May, always confirm my appointment, as at times we all forget and call for follow-ups. Awful service, I walk in with a prescription in hand ready to make a purchase on some reading glasses and a set of prescription glasses and nobody said a word to me. Never said hold on a moment sir, not a single syllable. Just looked at me a few times, looked away, and after standing there 20 minutes I just walked out. They all seen me walk in from the old doctor to the staff up front, I said hello and none of them returned any pleasantries. Thats the definition of awful, just poor poor customer service. What a waste of time. I came here because Americans Best sent me here for designer frames they didn't carry. What a joke. Minus 10 stars. You guys suck. read more

Awesome experience here last week. I am a bad contact wearer and will stretch out a year long prescription to last me... oh... three years. Bad, I know. I started doing it when I didn't have insurance and now that the hubby has a good vision plan, he begged me to go in. So I did. I picked this place simply because it is specifically covered by our insurance and it is near to our Ravenswood abode. Made the appointment way in advance and when I walked in, I was helped immediately. I filled out my paperwork and as soon as I turned it in, was shown to the doctors chair. The doctor was friendly and cheerful... and efficient! Turns out, my crappy extension of my lenses did zero damage to my eyes and everything checked out a-ok. I ordered a new supply all covered by my insurance, paid my copay and was on my way. The whole experience took less than 30 minutes. I got a call the very next day saying my lenses were in for me to pick up. Wow! That's some service! I'll definitely be back! read more

I'm one of those contact-wearing assholes who has been milking an 8 y/o prescription from my address 3 cities ago. 1800contacts finally pulled the plug, so I had to suck it up and visit the doctor. They take online appointments, which is a plus. This place is easy to find and has parking. The receptionists were nice and helpful, and the doctor was great. read more

I called today to see how long it takes after purchase for glasses to arrive. The optometrist told me it could be done right away assuming they had the proper materials. How awesome is that! They tell me they have one spot open at 4 and if I could arrive earlier that would be great. They take down my info to see what my insurance would cover. Awesome. I arrive 30 minutes early and greeted immediately. So far so good. The ladies inform me there is no appointments available for glasses exam and my insurance is out of network. Why wasn't I informed beforehand? What was the point of me going there. Wasted my time. Such a disappointment. Don't feel valued at all. read more

My son had a very strong, difficult prescription to manage, but they have gone out of their way, to make sure the prescription was spot on every time. They've also helped us budget for our glasses, contacts within the insurance guidelines. We've never felt rushed, or pushed into any purchases. We have had many good years of eye care. I called to find out how much an eye exam would be and was quoted $55 over the phone so I made an appointment for that day and came in. The eye exam was good and all my questions were answered. Now the reason for my 1 star is upon checkout the lady told me my total was $75 because I got my eyes dilated. Now I didn't mind paying the extra $20 however it was never mentioned to me until after the fact. Seems a bit shady and sneaky not to quote your customer up until they're paying for their service. Will not be returning or recommending for the shady business. read more

This place is very easy to make an appointment with. I recommend making them online and be sure to show up 5 minutes early as a courtesy to the staff. Dr. was very quick and listened to my concerns. This was a very quick exam and I get my eyes checked every year, so I really just needed a confirmation of my vison and my RX renewed. You don't really have to wait because this place runs on time. As to the comments of customers being overcharged, this place is reasonable. There are no hidden prices here, you just need to check your insurance policy. 4 Stars because of the lack of variety of frames and the techs could be a little more friendlier and act like they want to help me. read more

I really like Dr. Marshall. He is a very patient, knowledgeable and caring doctor. He also has a great sense of humor. The location is convenient and the frame selection is pretty large. Last time I was there, it took me at least a couple of hours to try on a bunch of frames. The staff was patient and gave me a good advice on what frames to pick. I work for a dentist, so I think certain criteria apply to all health care professionals and services. Ease of scheduling, accurate billing, being seated in a timely manner, not making anyone feel bad about delaying treatment, basically being a decent human being to someone who's putting their health in your hands. As a health care provider I only honestly care about one thing from my patients: being on time for appointments!! I digress. I was about a year overdue for my contact appointment. Yes, I'm that idiot person who's stretching the last pair of contacts until they're SUPER itchy. So dumb. I was all set for glasses, so really just wanted a contact exam somewhere near my house that takes my insurance. Major score with Pearl Vision that you can schedule online. I walked in and saw about 4 people in the waiting area. Uh oh, will I be waiting?! Not here. They had two or three techs there that day that were efficient and from what I could tell, very patient. There was an elderly woman there with her equally elderly daughter, and they were treated with kindness. Of course the girl trying on 72 pairs of frames and a tech giving her honest opinion. My tech, I think her name was May, even tightened my old glasses that I brought in. Dr. Marshal saw me right on time. I told him the contacts I wear are supposed to be worn for about a month and tossed, but I milk every last irritating drop of life outta them. He said I can wear them six weeks without harm, but to be more on the ball. I had a very thorough exam and warm small talk. They ordered me six months' worth of contacts, very nice for them and me. Maximized my benefits and didn't upsell me. They ticked all my "health care" boxes and then some. But why wouldn't they treat me nice? I was ON TIME. read more

Was coming here when I needed to keep track on my vision before PRK. My experience at Pearle vision was nothing but positive. I always walked im, but still was serviced with a proper care. I seriously love this Pearle Vision. I've been wearing glasses for a long time and have had many crappy experiences at eye care places. I've gotten three pairs of glasses from this Pearle Vision and I have never had an inkling of a problem. Dr. Marshal is very professional and nice. The optical technicians are great at their jobs. My favorite technician is Willie! She's great at helping me pick out frames! Another bonus is that the glasses are ready the next day. Omg these guys took great care of me. After being screwed over by Americas worst down the street I came here and immediately felt at ease. They asked me questions to find solution for my eye problems. I had to order my lenses and in the meantime they gave me a trial pair that they suggested may work even better with my line of work. And my contacts were cheaper here than the bang up place down the street. The staff was kind,patient,and sympathetic towards my needs. I found my new optician. I thought the frames to my glasses were destroyed and I entered hoping they could put my glasses into new frames. I was very pleased when they didn't try to sell me new frames but instead told me that my frames were repairable for only $15. Great deal! read more

I was charged $50 extra for a basic eye exam because I didn't purchase contacts from them. I had a coupon code for Vision Direct, and showed this to the receptionist. She went into the back office for a couple minutes, presumably talking with the doctor, and when they realized they couldn't match the Vision Direct price, she increased the cost of my eye exam from $65 to $115. I'm not sure if this is even legal, but it's certainly wrong! Avoid this place! read more

The doctor and staff is marvelous! My family including my 4 kids have been getting eye exams from Dr. Marshall for many years because he is very patient and very nice. I just refuse to use bifocals and the doctor came up with an alternative. I love my new Mont Blanc computer glasses! What in the Hell is going on here. That is a statement, not a question. I had a miserable experience at this Pearle. First of all, you walk into this place to discover three receptionists. 3. And they all sort of glance at each other to nonverbally decide whose turn it it is the handle the single customer they have. Then they mumble, or grunt. At you. The male doctor, who may not be there anymore, screwed up my glasses prescription. The contacts were fine, but I made the unholy mistake of buying the glasses too, and there was no way in hell they were going to give me a refund. They offered to correct the prescription for free, which they did, but this was after fighting the refund request 3 times. I had to keep asking for a refund, and was told that I would still be charged $60 for a lab fee if I returned them. So, instead of paying $60 for absolutely nothing, I decided to allow them to correct the glasses, which are still slightly off. Never going back there again. Their 30 day refund policy is a lie. read more
