It was my first visit there and I was seeking a new look. Jeff did an amazing job updating me with some very nice looking frames. I was unsure as to what I wanted but knew I wanted something different than the wire frames I'd been wearing for a long time. Jeff chose a few pairs that went well with my needs and personal style which is rather subtle. I ended up getting a pair of smoky grey plastic frames by Seraphin. They are very stylish and bonus my girlfriend loves them on me. They fit well, are comfortable and while there I also had an exam so I can see better than I have in years. Being a poor graduate student with no vision insurance, I tend to wait quite a long time (too long of a time) in between visits to the eye doctor. Dr. Beth was great: professional, friendly, and very sympathetic to my problem. I offhandedly mentioned that I had been having a lot of headaches recently, and she explored all the reasons that my vision could potentially be causing the problem. This was totally unlike all other experiences I've had with optometrists, who have always talked down to me or tried to just make me upgrade to the next most awesome and very expensive type of glasses or contacts Rx. She was also incredibly understanding of the fact that I didn't have vision insurance and explained to me how I could spread the cost of the visit out rather than paying the full cost of both the contacts and glasses exams at the same time. They released my Rx to me without any fuss or pressuring me to buy contacts or glasses from them. The rest of the staff was super friendly and basically the second I plopped down in the chair someone grabbed my glasses to adjust, tighten and clean them. Now they don't fall off my face when I sneeze, which probably would have been all that I needed to write a satisfied review - the rest is just extra awesome. (: read more

I have been wearing contacts and glasses for 15 years and have tried a ton of different eye places. I have finally found a keeper. I love this place!! They took me in as soon as I got there. I was seen by Dr. Mokaya; she was extremely knowledgeable, took her time me, and answered all of my questions. This Pearle Vision had excellent customer service by all staff. Love them! I moved from this neighborhood a few months ago and even though it's sort of a pain in the ass for me to get down there now, I refuse to switch to a closer optometrist. Drs. Johnson is awesome! The last two optometrists didn't listen to me when I said, "hey these contacts you gave me aren't very comfortable" or "these glasses have been giving me a headache". I had been told, "oh, you'll get used to them." Not with Drs. Johnson! She always gives me a couple different trial pairs of contacts to try, free of charge, and then lets me tell her which ones I like best. As for my glasses? I get to wear them for a week and if I don't like them? I can bring them back and switch the frames or change the prescription if it's too weak/strong. The rest of the staff here is also really nice and very knowledgeable. The receptionists won't let you leave without making sure that you have everything you need, like a new case, cleaner, contacts solution, etc. They also have a knack for helping you choose glasses that look great on you! Plus, the prices are not high at all, but they will work with you if you're on a budget. read more

BEST PLACE EVER!! My partner and I went in for our appointments this afternoon and we had such a wonderful experience. The staff is ridiculously knowledgeable, helpful and really fun! Not only did the guy help me pick out glasses, but THEY WERE READY IN A HALF AN HOUR! Amazing. Our appointments were with Dr. Andrea Johnson-Grote and she is by far my favorite eye doctor ever. She was super personable and finally explained to me what astigmatism is which no doctor has ever done before! So, moral of the story, we will go here for as long as we are in Chicago. I LOVE this Pearle Vision. My son and I have been going for years, and my ex-husband might still be going there, even though he would have to travel over an hour to get back there. Jeff, Skip, Dr. Geiderman, Dr. Andrea...all wonderful and helpful. There is a generosity in this store, that I have always admired....the staff is totally backed up by Dr. Geiderman, who owns the store and sets the example for making sure the customer is happy. They go way beyond the norm to succeed in these efforts! For the past few years, I have been able to pick out frames without dragging a 2nd opinion person with me! The staff is always helpful (and tells you the truth!), and often I've have other customers "chime in"....it's just such a comfortable place! Can't say enough...love, love, love them! read more

I saw Dr. Liz as one of the last appointments of the day -- she was super helpful; going above and beyond in trying three or four different contact lenses before finding the right fit (each with subsequent tests/measurements). My Yelps are few and far between, but I owe the folks at Pearle on Lincoln a shout... I walked into their store a desperate man after a unsuccessful strabismus surgery a month prior. I had experienced intermittent double-vision immediately following the surgery, but the week leading to my visit to Pearle the double vision was nearly full time. The only way I could merge the two images (absent prism glasses) was to crane my neck back so I viewed the world with the lower 30 degrees of my field of vision. Needless to say, that sort of posture tends to put a lot of pressure on the neck and upper back--so it's no shocker that I walked into Pearle not only blind but pretty much in an invisible neck cast. I was desperate for immediate relief in the form of prescription glasses with prism. The Pearle employees couldn't be more sympathetic or ready to help. Not only did they place a rush order for the new lenses, they engineered a pretty inventive solution for immediate relief. The technician there ground and retrofitted my existing prism lenses, swapping left-for-right and right-for-left lenses (the surgery basically flipped my deviation) into a frame that they let me "borrow" until my new lenses had arrived. Resourceful, effective and above-and-beyond are descriptors that come to mind. Hat tip to the owners of Pearle on Lincoln. They've assembled a hard working and friendly staff and operate the franchise with the commitment and care of a small business owner. I will be a repeat customer. read more

I thought that the service was awesome. I was there early and they were able to get my appointment started right away. My eye exam was quick and I was able to pick out frames shortly after. Everyone was super nice. After I picked out the frames, they were ready within 30 minutes. Overall it was a great experience. My only disappointment was the selection of frames. There wasn't a wide selection of frames, especially for $200 and under. read more

I went in to get an eye exam and glasses one afternoon. I was told that they could see me right away -- then, for some reason, I ended up having to wait for upwards of 45 minutes. No real explanation was given. No big deal, it happens. The doctor I saw was friendly, but she asked a bunch of questions about my ethnicity as it relates to the condition of my eyes. That was kind of off-putting and awkward. The real thing that bothered me, however, was that at the end of the appointment I was told my glasses would be available for pickup in a day or two. I called back two days later (after receiving no notification) and asked about my glasses. They said that they hadn't arrived yet. I received no notification until the following Tuesday. At that point I called again and the salesperson told me that they had not actually placed the order yet. He did so at that moment, and then the glasses were available for pickup the next day. Why did this take an entire week? And why did I have to call to make it happen? How long would I have ended up waiting if I hadn't called? This is poor customer service all around. UPDATE: Originally I gave two stars primarily because of the errors related to customer service. Not long after posting this review the company reached out to me, apologized for the snafu, and offered a partial refund based on the errors that occurred. To me this is evidence of a company that actually cares about their customers! Even if they make mistakes, they're willing to do due diligence in correcting those mistakes. :) read more

After having an eye exam and fitting for contacts, they intentionally charged my insurance as if i also ordered $220 worth of contacts even though I had no intention of ordering any. I only found this out when I tried to use my vision benefits later in the year and was told they were all used up! When I asked them to fix it, I got the runaround and an unsatisfactory resolution. Because of seemingly sketchy business and insurance practices and how they handled my issue, I would avoid doing business at this location. read more

My daughter needed to get glasses and contacts as soon as possible and we're new to the neighborhood so I wasn't sure where to go. I saw the Yelp reviews for this place and was skeptical. I couldn't believe a chain eye glass place could really be good enough to get such glowing reviews. After going there today, I can attest that this place deserves all the good reviews and more. Jeff (the manager) was friendly and helpful immediately. He gave us a really good deal on the frames and lenses. He was able to get her in for a contact fitting appointment later in the day and they gave us not one but two trial sets of contacts so that she had something to use while waiting for our order to arrive next week. The doctor was extremely thorough and although we were only charged for the fitting (since she had her eye exam elsewhere), the doctor double checked her prescription and found that a slightly higher correction was actually better for her. I could tell that everyone there cares about their customers. Although it's a chain store, it has a real and honest community feeling. I know we'll be going back there again. read more

The folks that work here were fantastic. I needed new lenses very badly and most other opticians told me 10 days to 2 weeks to get the lenses, which means I would be without my glasses for that period of time. Amber was able to set me up with temporary lenses which we put in some old frames I had. They scanned in my frames and my new lenses were actually in in 3 days. I cannot recommend this store more. read more

Amazing. I kept putting off getting new glasses because it's such a process. I walked in on a Saturday, didn't have my prescription or insurance card. They got both for me right away, helped me pick out frames, and I was able to walk out with the glasses right away. There were options I was considering that they didn't have in stock, but they offered to let me go with the regular lenses and come back and have them switched out when they were in, no extra charge. read more

I was totally blown away by efficiency and quality of service. all staff were good, but Dr. Elizabeth Mokaya (sp?) was amazing - nice, funny, down to earth, quick, and -- even though I wasn't there for contacts - gave me a box of a new kind to try based on my happening to mention that I have dry eyes. I came here because I had a Living Social deal that gave me a good discount. I stopped by initially just to get a sense of price and their frame selection. Jeff wasn't pushy at all, but helped me find frames I liked and answered all my cost questions. I had to get an exam and contacts at a different place that takes my insurance--but I came back and got the frames that Jeff helped me with. Everyone was friendly and the service was very quick. I now know why there is a consistent consensus that the staff here is just amazing...because they are. I've been working with Doctor Andrea for a few weeks now, and she has been incredibly patient with me while I try to fit contacts for my astigmatism. Service was 5+ stars! They fit me in on their busiest day and did not rush the appointment. Amber, Danny and Vanessa were all very helpful- I do not remember the owner's name but he took great care of me during my exam and contact fitting. The owner took time to explain the new contact cleaning device they gave me and checked my sight once again after placing in my new contact Rx. I felt pampered -the team they have there is thoughtful, attentive and friendly. Even mailing me my contacts once the order arrives! I searched hi and low for a particular pair of glasses, that my current pearl was tryong to charge $489 for (just frames) so i did some shopping around, lens crafters had the same frames... But go figure they didnt take my insurance... So i called every single Pearle in the 25 mile radius finding the lowest for the glasses at 329, being they were a Pearle i was happy, but because theyre franchised owned they didnt except my insurance either.. After my 15th phone call i spoke with Jeff, gave him all my info over the phone so i didnt have to drive for no reason, within minutes he called me back with the best news.. They could order the frame and the price was 329.. After insurance my glasses and frames came out to 268.. When i went in the store the owner was in there.. I cant remember his name, but let me tell you what a great guy.. Because of him & Jeff i will never go no where else, even if the drive is an hour (durning rush hour) ive already told a few friends who will be visiting on their next exam.. But i decided to write this post so others can see how amazing they are.. Mind u i was going to my old Pearle for over 3 years.. And for the same frames they were charging $100 more and wouldnt even work with me on the price.. Shame on them cuz they lost my business... Thanks again Jeff!! read more

It's difficult for me to find frames to fit my face, because I have a tiny head! Ha! I went in today, because my daughter broke the arm off of a second pair of glasses. I couldn't find a frame that I liked as much as my last pair. Amber was super patient and helpful. She found a couple of arms in their "spare parts" and replaced both of the arms on my old pair for FREE! She also cleaned off all the tape marks from where I had attempted to tape on the old arm! Wow. Simply wow. I went here because my old eye doctor stopped accepting my insurance. I loved them but didn't realize what I was missing out on at Pearle. When you make an appointment the guy that answers the phone is awesome and when you go in there you can tell how much they value their clients. I've had eye issues since I was a kid including surgery to correct a lazy eye. I've never had an eye doctor be so focused on the best possible outcomes for me. They explained so many things to me about my eye, why it was crossed, how that affects me now, simple things I can do to improve near and short sight, explained how I have a flat eye so I'm limited on which contacts I can use, just to name a few. I also wanted to switch to daily contacts. Not only did they let me try on multiple pairs, but sent me home with nearly a months worth of daily contacts (not cheap) to continue trying. Dr. Andrea is fantastic and I will certainly be back. read more

The best customer service I have ever received at the eye doctor. The two young ladies at the front desk were welcoming and informative. My eye exam was a breeze. They had a good selection of frames and I even got 30% the complete pair of glasses since I was paying out of pocket. I ended up selecting some fancy frames and they had my glasses (-4.50) ready in 30 minutes. The whole process was easy, I even ended up paying less than I had anticipated ($405). They were so efficient that my 4 year old waited with me the entire time and he maintained his composure. So glad I went here for my glasses, I will definitely be back. read more

I had a really bad experience at Lenscrafters and decided to try Pearle on Lincoln. What a difference. Everyone was super helpful. Lenscrafters said two weeks for glasses. Unacceptable. I went to Pearle on Wednesday and they told me they would have my new glasses on Friday afternoon. Wow. I got an eye exam since Lenscrafters gave me the wrong prescription (they never found my old one), had blended trifocals, transition lenses, and new frames for what I thought was a reasonable price. Problem was, I worked on Friday and shipping to my address with no real place for packages wouldn't work because I was at work Friday. BUT the store manager drove to my building in Rogers Park on Saturday morning, two days before Christmas to deliver them to me in person. What a guy. They were great and deserve a super review. This is the best eye place I have been to in Chicago! Not only is the staff super friendly and nice, but they actually know what they are doing. I found out my contact prescription is too strong (probably why I have had headaches). I loved the eye Dr. Once my exam was over, I looked at glasses and the staff gave me their honest opinion for which ones looked best. My glasses were ready in 45 minutes!! I have never had glasses ready so fast. They also looked up my insurance, told me exactly what was covered, and then helped me get the best deal possible. I am so outrageously impressed with the excellent service provided by this pearl vision. In an extremely desperate situation to have one-hour glasses made before a business meeting and Jeff Eide was so extremely graciously as to stayed open after hours in order to accommodate our needs. Upon arrival we realized we also did not have a valid prescription and Dr Ralph Geidermam also graciously stepped in to give a last minute exam after hours. I could not be more impressed by the treatment we received and the courtesy we were treated with. This is the best optical shop on the North Side, if not the city. Great staff is knowledgeable, honest, and friendly. All of the doctor's are top notch. With late hours on Monday and Thursday + Saturday hours, there schedule works with mine. If I need contact between visits, they are happy to mail them out. Glasses in less than one hour, high tech equipment that even photographs your eyes. All in all, a great store, excellent pricing and lot's of fun frame options. They accept many insurance companies and there is always a Pearle Vision coupon online or in the paper. read more

I have been going to this location for about ten years, went to another shop one time I was looking for a particular frame for my glasses, and never should have strayed. Several times I have needed to have my glasses repaired, lenses replaced, etc., and the staff here has always met my needs quickly, professionally, and either at no cost, or at unbelievably low prices. What a pleasant experience!! I have never had a more enjoyable eye appointment in my entire life. If you need to get glasses or contacts this is the place to go!! I was running late because of traffic and had already expected to be brushed off and rescheduled at the door but instead I was greeted with friendly smiles and an eager staff excited to help me make decisions. Honestly, I felt like I knew them already. Especially my lovely Optometrist Dr. Andrea Johnson-Grote. she was sensational. She answered each of my questions with concern and cared for my exact specifications when dialing in on perfect vision for my eyes. Along with her years of experience, obviously defined in the care she gave, she had the kindness of a mother and the most admirable characteristics of a true professional Optometrist. After my check-up the staff helped me pick out the perfect frames and because I showed up late they stayed late with a "happy to serve" attitude!!! Even more so, the handsome Optician helping me decided that instead of me having to drive back and waste a trip to pick up my finished perfect pair of glasses, he and his assistant would stay past close and set my frames so that I could walk out the door with them in hand! This took a couple hours!! I walked in nervous expecting the usual run around and walked out kicking my heals together in gratitude and excitement. Normally I only write reviews for food places, but this Pearle Vision's customer service was so above and beyond I wanted to be sure I wrote a review. I was helping my mother try and work out her new insurance for glasses and we called this Pearle Vision because they were so close to her house. I believe we spoke to Matt on the phone and he was amazing. He spent a solid 15 minutes on the phone with us pricing out different bi-focal options for her, after having called Blue Cross and Davis Insurance to be sure he was giving her the most accurate numbers possible, all before we even had an appointment! We were lucky and got in for an appointment an hour later and when we asked to speak to a manager to comment on the wonderful help we'd already received before even walking in the owner heard and thanked us. The owner also was my mother's Dr. for her exam, he did a quick and relaxed exam with great personality. We got talking about my mum and where she'd just moved from and how she'd needed glasses for awhile and how excited she was we'd saved up enough to get rid of her old lined bi-focals. When we went to check out he then came over to us and let us know that he was upgrading her lenses to the best possible bi-focal option for free. We were both flabbergasted, the service of the entire team and most importantly the compassion and ability to connect on a human level with their clients really sets this store apart.
