Pearl Nails was my backup nail salon when my first pick was packed. I'm not a fan of appointments being that I love spontaneity. What I enjoy about this place is that you can walk-in and the staff will accomdate you. The wait is never long and they have a large array of nail polishes. From O.P.I to Essie and the not so popular brands. The drying section is not huge so sometimes you feel like you're sitting on top of another client. Depending on the service you want prices can be steep. Other than that I do not have any real complaints about Pearl Nails. read more

I had one hour to kill after my hospital appointment so I searched on Yelp about a nice nail salon. I found Pearl Nails to have the best review so I just walked in. It was Wednesday around 5pm and there were only two customers. A nice Korean took me in and since I wanted the color to last long, I decided to get gel nails since it lasts at least a month. I got a nude pink color gel nail ($20) plus glitter coating ($5), which was $25 total. I'm super happy how my nails turned out. The price is definitely my favorite part and I wish this nail salon was closer to where I live. I'll definitely come back when I'm in the area! read more

This place is one of your best bets for a cheap mani-pedi in the hood. The owner actually speaks and understands English which is a huge plus. The ladies that work there are super nice and accommodating when you are in a rush. It's $22 for a mani-pedi and they do a quick and great job! They have awesome massage chairs while you're getting your little piggies done and they do a great scrubbing job. The place is pretty clean and not as cluttered with fake plants/year round decorations that never get taken down. The place has been my go-to spot for about 4 years and they are pretty consistent. I have never gotten cut and my pedi's have usually lasted way past their 2 week prime. read more

I needed a regular manicure real badly and decided to try this neighborhood place for the first time. When I walked in, I was greeted with a very low energy "hello". I didn't know who the manager was or who was in charge. Although I was happy with the results, I felt they could have interacted with me a little more especially since I am new to the place. I had my worst experience on this nail salon. The lady who did my pedicure didnt even take out my dead skin, my ingrown all she did was clip my hands and those things for the spa. When I entered the place I specifically said I want a pedicure but since they asked me to choose out of those spa things so I chose but omg, this place is so aggravating, so irritating and all. My foot is not even couple of minutes or maybe not even a minute in the warm water and she asked me to take it out clip it and did a little nail filing and thats it. Omg! I never exploded or even complained before even with a bad service but this is too much. The middle-aged lady shouldn't do the pedicure if she doesnt know how to. read more

I usually go to Hip Hop nails in Ajax, the Westney plaza. They were very busy and I really needed my nails done so I resorted here. Long story short, the one girl who speaks the best English told me it was, I believe she said $47 for an acrylic fill, with shellac, and coffin shape. I pay $30.00 at Hip Hop nails. I said never mind. She said something in her language and I heard her say "cheap" lol. Luckily I was in a decent mood so I didn't say anything. I went right back to Hip Hop nails and got the same services for $30.00. Even if I'm desperate, I will never go back. Call me cheap but I still saved $17.00. read more

Went in here today for a pedicure and I was excited to try some place new but when I walked in I wasn't even greeted they just gave me a place to sit on the pedicure chair and the girl jackie started working on me. She was ok but the whole time she was doing my pedicure she kept starring at the television and it started getting annoying. I started talking to her to get her attention but she was cold an not friendly at all. I dont think I would come back here , just for the fact I felt I wasn't being acknowledge she worked so fast as if all she wanted was the money, they lack in customer service in every area. I came for a manicure and pedicure on Sunday The spa pedicure was ok. The girl started getting lazy on the massage and kept checking out her nails. My manicure started chipping after the first day and now it's all peeling off and it's only the third day and they charge you an arm and leg to get your nails done and they don't give you the service you deserve and nail polish that would last for at least week. LONG review but necessary and WELL DESERVED Gave a 1 because I can't give 0. I used to come here all the time. Service was good and they offered some extra things included with your pedi like paraffin wax for example. Overtime customer service got worse and worse. They stopped offering things and would either tell me I was "mistaken" or that it was a special. Ok NP! Then I started to come in and wouldn't get so much of a hello or asked what I'd like to get done. I got a gel manicure that was very bulky and peeled off the next day. TWICE. Got a pedicure and the tech was either watching TV or on the phone the whole time every time I was in or stopping to crack jokes with the other techs. Bad pedicure. She barely did anything. I had a cracked nail which she made worse and nail polish also chipped within the next day. I literally live around the corner so because of convenience I decided to give 1 more try. I came in - they looked up at me then right back down - no words. I said hello and got totally ignored. I said "can I get a pedi please" again I was ignored. I asked "is that a yes orrr..." and the woman very abruptly and rudely said "you'll have to wait" The place was empty. I understand sometimes there are appointments so I asked how long? She very rudely again just said "you'll have to wait." That was when I decided to write this saga. I could never give my hard earned money in support of such unprofessionalism and straight up disrespect. And they don't have a good variety of colors. I've been going here for years! From the first time I saw a french pedicure on the biggest slut in high school I knew I was a nail junkie. Queens is , hands down, the best place to go to if you want good, clean service for a decent price. After living in Manhattan I appreciate the ladies at Pearl so much. The fact that a basic mani/pedi can be upwards of $45 dollars seems ridiculous to me. At Pearl you can get a french mani and pedi for 28 bucks baby! Clean and comfortable massage chairs await you, the staff is sweet, the clientle ranges from spoiled fat housewives to giggling cell phone teens. Plus, their mags are up to date! Lay back for a while though because they're super popular. Try coming in the middle of a the week or early in the morning on a weekend for quicker service.They do great waxing too! i have never left with sperm eyebrow! Best of all...they NEVER make you feel bad about it having been a while between pampering sessions and NEVER give you a shit job if you're the last one out...they'd rather get it right. That's why for my birthday I'm getting a $150 buck cert there! YAYYYYYYYYYYYYY! Pass me a mag would you hun? * update: The economy slump must be hitting them hard. My girlfriend has been going to this place for some time however she has finally had enough. The personnel at this place are not very welcoming and friendly with the exception of the owners daughter Jackie. The store does not have many colors for gel nail polish and they refuse to buy more to offer a better selection. My girlfriend goes to other nail salons occasionally to change up the color and here's the messed up part. My girlfriend went into Pearl Nails and they got upset at the fact that she went to a different nail salon. The people at Pearl Nails then proceeded to CHARGE HER AN EXTRA FIVE DOLLARS TO REMOVE THE NAIL POLISH SINCE IT WAS DONE AT A DIFFERENT SALON. If that's not bad enough, they charged the five dollars and didn't make mention of it until AFTER THEY DID HER NAILS. As a result, she will not be returning to this place to give them any further business. The unfriendly personalities, unprofessionalism, and poor attitudes make this place a bad idea for business. We would recommend any other place. Getting your nails done should be a relaxing and enjoyable experience, not a hassle. Trust in this review and avoid them. Even if you don't listen and you try them out, you'll see after the first time you are there and you will probably add to my review. read more

i absolutely love this place, Ive been going there for years. Their Gel Manicure lasts up to 2 months .. NO LIE. Ive recommended so many friends and family there and will continue to. They have nice colors for all seasons . I use to go to this salon a lot and they have gotten very worst. The people that work here are liars, I went to get a mani and pedi and was told the wait is 1 hour, I said I will be back in an hour. I called to see if it's ok to come in since I live on next block and when the owners daughter finally picked up after 5, 6 rings, she told me they don't have time for a mani and pedi ( I called at 4:30 and they don't close till 8pm)and was told to come back tomorrow in a very RUDE MANNER! Worst experience ever. Made an appointment for 5:30 for a gel manicure. The foil and nail polish remover cotton balls where placed on my fingers like normal. But, they had me sit with them on my fingers for 50 minutes! My nails were actually burning. Finally when the lady came to me she didn't even apologize. Then, for some reason the gel polish wouldn't come off which has never happened to me so they must use a cheap or expired brand. So instead, she used one of those tools to push back cuticles to scrape off my polish, also painful. After that, she began filing my nails. In the middle of doing that she got a call on her personal cell phone and was extremely distracted. She would file the nail bed part of my nail for minutes on end causing them to be extremely thin and they were already hurting. At this point I decided I didn't want gel because it was so late and because I didn't want to put my nails through anymore stress. I picked a new color and she went directly to painting. I then asked, so you aren't going to fix up my cuticles to which she responded no they are fine. What! At this point I just wanted to leave so I let her paint them with a pretty ugly color because there weren't many options and I left. That night I got home one of my nails ended up breaking (shocker) and I repainted them with my nail polish. Now, I will say it could have been because the lady doing my nails was just horrible and others may be okay because I did see someone getting a pedicure and that lady seemed to take her time and really provided a nice service. But still, the horrible customer service, length of time I had to wait, and horrible outcome of my nails made this my worst experience at a nail salon ever. read more

I went after reading Elizabeth's review. Now, I realize that it's over a year old but I figured it couldn't have changed that much from her description. How wrong I was. The place is barely clean. There were flies swarming around the unused pedicure tubs and I was fanning them away as I was getting my feet done. The woman who did my feet said she cleaned the tub after the other woman got out but I didn't see her washing it out or spraying it like the other woman did. Sketch. She also rushed through my pedicure because there were 2 other women waiting. She didn't give me my mini leg massage...Not relaxing. I had a different woman who did my nails. She started off great~ and then scared the hell out of me when she reached for the tools SHE JUST USED on the client before me and proceeded to wipe them on a towel, spray them with a mystery bottle, and try to use them on me. I pointed to the sanitizer tray behind her and asked her to use new tools on me. I gave them 2 stars instead of 1 because the price was great ($18 for mani/pedi M-W). To be fair, there must have been something I missed because the other people seemed pleased with their experience. I've been to far better places in NY/NJ so I admit that I am a picky nail salon person. If you do go (and this really goes for any nail salon) just be a smart customer and be aware of what's going on. read more
