I was excited to support a female contractor, Allison Allain, owner of PCI Builders, to remodel our two bathrooms, but was quickly disappointed by her unprofessional behavior.
She starts with a two phase proposal which includes the Planning and Designing phase and the Construction phase. Our planning phase proposal was $12,500 with no change of floor plan layout! $6,000 was for planning and $6500 was for drawings, floor plans, and going to the city to pull permits. When I explained to her that none of the other 3 contractors who had given me bids mentioned drawings, she claimed that they weren't planning on pulling permits then, which was not the case. I even forwarded her the emailed response from the city that stated that if it was a simple remodel, floor plans were the only thing needed to pull permits. Allison then informed me that "We're done here."
The 3 other contractors I had bids from were always more than happy to answer any questions I had. I've never hired a contractor to do remodeling in my home before and it's important for me to know that the contractor I choose will be available to answer any questions I have. Allison Allain, who owns PCI Builders, was put off by the questions I asked. Do you want a contractor like that? Two other contractors I would recommend are CAVILIER BUILDERS and QUALITY FIRST BUILDERS. They really stand out compared to PCI BUILDERS. read more
