Here is the quick story: Last Saturday (08-15-2026) I took my 2016 Apple MacBook Pro to Apple Genius Bar for diagnostic and repair, where I was received with utmost courtesy, waited there patiently for 1.5 hours, witnessed my computer given all kinds of diagnostic tactics by the receptionist, who did with all her earnest effort to revive it. Unfortunately I had to leave Genius Bar with the announcement that my MacBook Pro is "beyond repair." Unconvinced, I tried my luck on another store from online search and found The Device Lab, and Austin fixed it! Well, an old computer is an old computer and there is no need for much fuss or excitement about this triviality. But Austin left me with another impression: his sincerity and ability to do what he sets out to do, which is to repair. What can be cooler than a man who delivers his promise by doing what he likes and is good at? I spoke to Austin and found his business philosophy reasonable and truthful: doing what he likes, helping people, figuring out the cause of problem, getting things fixed without having to resort to replacement ( a favorite recommendation from big companies...). Behind this work ethic and principle is another guideline that directs his work: trust from his customers. I like that! O, by the way, there is another reason that urged me to write this review for Austin. He told me he started this company over a year ago, and I see in him what I had to go through back in 2004, when I started having my own tutoring center. He was incredibly responsive on Yelp messages, phone calls, and texts. Unlike most shops, Victor doesn't charge for a diagnostic. He went above and beyond to figure out what was going on with my laptop and even ordered another separate power brick (on his own dime) just to see if it was that. He found the problem, called the manufacturer for the replacement part and gave a fair price for the part + labor. I ultimately did not go through with the repair as I decided to buy a PC. When I went to pick up my laptop I asked what I owed and Victor said everything was complimentary. Now that is top tier service right there.
