I recently needed the battery replaced in my Mac laptop and had such a great experience with Joe. When I first called him last week, he explained that his specialty is more PC repair, but he was more than willing to help with my Mac battery replacement. He advised me to purchase the battery myself and let him know when it arrived. Before bringing it in, I organized and backed up my laptop -- even though Joe said it probably wasn't necessary, he agreed it was the wise thing to do. Today I called him, and he told me to bring it right over and he could get it done the same day. What a difference from the Apple Store experience, where I was told I'd need an appointment, then possibly wait 10 days just for them to look at it, followed by another week or more for the repair. I simply couldn't be without my laptop for two weeks. Joe was amazing. He completed the repair in under four hours, the price was very fair, and he was kind, thorough, and professional throughout the entire process. My laptop is working great!!!! I would highly recommend him to anyone needing computer repair services. read more

Joe's the best!! Yes there is an upfront diagnostic charge, but he tries his best to fix what's going on. I called two other stores and they said no dice. Store looks a little janky, but I appreciate that about Joe. No frills kinda guy, but gets the job done. read more

UPDATE: My husband Emmett previously posted about the horrible experience he just had at Payless. Well guess what? We took his computer to Best Buy and the Geek Squad found the problem IN AN HOUR!!! It had a bad water cooler unit, and a fan that wasn't even turning!! How do you not see a fan not turning?? read more

Fixed my PC for a very reasonable cost. Excellent service and a cordial customer related attitude Has the good character content that makes him the go to guy when you need cell phone or pc repair at a reasonable cost. read more

Joe dropped the ball this time. I took my desk top in on 1/29/26, and was charged $130 + tax. He informed me next day that the ssd drive in my computer was bad. He recommended an m.2 ssd that was faster, and I was charged an additional $180. (60 for the drive and 120 to put it in). On Feb. 2, I picked it up and was informed that he fixed the old ssd, but put in the new one anyway because "it was faster". I got the unit home, and it was STILL doing what it was doing to begin with!! I brought it back on the 3rd of Feb.. To make a long story short FIVE TIMES BACK AND FORTH TO HIS SHOP AND HAD THE SAME ORIGINAL PROBLEM!! Finally, on Feb. 17th, I brought it back in, he put the original ssd back in, and refunded me the $180 BUT NOT THE $130!! He had stated earlier that "With 20-30 computers being worked on in a week, it was hard to find an 'intermittent lag problem." SO, in other words, collecting between $2,600 and $3,900 dollars a week in "estimate fees" , HE REFUSED TO REFUND MY $130 which I had paid expecting of course that he would FIX IT, which in my eyes is saying, tough luck Charlie; I would rather keep your money than keep a customer!! Well so be it. I would not recommend Payless: I guess if you pay less you get what you paid for. read more

The owner of this business is phenomenal!! He personally does the repairs. He is unbelievably knowledgeable, honest ,professional and yet down to earth and very personable. I basically know nothing about computers other than how to turn it on and he is so understanding and patient! It's so comforting to find someone who takes pride in their work. I would give him and his business 100 stars! read more

My laptop monitor was suddenly black. Nothing I did brought it back and I needed it fixed quickly. The Genius Bar appointment was days away, so I went local - and I will never go to the GB again! Talking to Joe on the phone it was clear he knew his stuff! He was so nice when I dropped my computer off and kept me informed during the repair process. My problem turned out to be weird and minor but he didn't make me feel foolish about it and I got my computer back in better shape than ever. I have my repair guy now and I highly recommended walking through that door if you need a repair yourself! read more

Joe went above and beyond in fixing my laptop. The shop is kind of sketchy but it just goes to show you can't judge a book by it's cover. I highly recommend Payless read more

Took two computers to him, he charged me $180 upfront simply to look at them, no guarantee of being able to fix them. I should have walked but he has good reviews and reputation, been in business for a long time. He determined they needed keyboards and sent me on a wild goose chase to find them on ebay, he felt new parts would be too expensive. His guidance in what to look for was weak, I found a board for one and not the other brought it to him and it was the wrong board. The supplier refused to provide a refund. Now i''m out $280 but decide going elsewhere will cost even more $. I order another, it does not work, I did get a refund. Ordered another and this time it works. He installs it, the computer works but now it's unbelievably slow. I go back AGAIN, he keeps it for a few days, says it's better but not great and he will do me a favor and not charge me anything additional for this last service!!!!!! It worked slightly better, not much. He has me on a list awaiting a secondary market part for the second computer, it's been a long time and I have heard nothing not like I would even drive by his place again. $380 plus four visits, a lot of eBay time and I left with a computer that barely worked and one that did not. So unethical and did I mention the place is a mess? Take your computer to You Break I fix on Niagara Falls Blvd, they charged me nothing and advised me they to buy a new computer. Ethical. Costly mistake, wish I could give Joe zero stars. , read more

I recently experienced some major computer issues and went to Payless Computer Repair based on reviews I had read on What's Up Kenmore. I am so glad that I took my computer there. Joe is so knowledgeable and he actually listened to what I needed to use the computer for and then came up with the most reasonable and economic solution. He did not TECH speak over my head or try to over sell me anything I did not need. He takes a great deal of pride in his work and strives to make sure that you are completely satisfied. I give Joe and Payless Computers my highest recommendation and would not hesitate to return if I experience any computer issues in the future. read more

Very satisfied. Although I only have few experiences with repairing broken computers, this place is the best place I have been so far. The service is friendly and work gets done fast. I was very pleased that he gladly give detail explainations before, during, and after the work. I can see that he takes the work very seriously and even after the computer is fixed, I got good suggestions and useful informations about computer itself. As a reference to the ones reading this review, this is the information of the problem I had: Model: Alienware m15 laptop Problem: Computer fails to start-when I press the power botton it runs for an instant (1~2 sec) then turns off by itself and repeats until I press power and hold to turn it off (stops repeat and stays off). Solution: Seems that the video card wasn't dissipating the heat properly so adjusting that part with the right material fixed the problem. Now my computer is running without a problem. Thank you Joe! read more

Recently my computer became unusable and I was unable to get it to open normally, just the blue screen of death. I was sick to my stomach with the thought of losing very important data for my businesses. I heard about Joes reputation and am so glad I did. He was genuinely concerned for my dilemma and worked diligently to recover my data quickly and affordably. Thanks so much Joe for a job really well done! Jenny read more

Joe is fantastic. This is the second time my husband has broken his computer over the last few years, and again, he did a fantastic, quick, and reasonably-priced job. He keeps you in the loop every step of the way, and there is never a question of if or when he will get to it. He lets you know when the repairs will be done, and they are. I would recommend his work to anyone in need of computer repair. read more

Joe did an amazing, quick and inexpensive job on fixing my laptop. I wasnt able to connect to my brand new router and he found I had a ton of viruses blocking the connection. So he cleaned it up for a great price (compared to geek squad or other places I searched) and gave me some helpful tips on how to make it run better. Being a college student my laptop is probably the most important thing I need to have and he understood that. So he fixed it up and had it back to me in no time. Great service for the price. Definitely returning if I need any more work done to it! 5 Stars! read more

This is a great place to take your computer to be repaired. Joe, the owner, is just a super guy to handle your technical issues with computer repair. I took my 12 year old Dell Latitude in and had a new solid state memory installed. Joe also upgraded my Windows 10 from 32 to 64 bit. The end result is that I have a super fast laptop at a fraction of what a new one would cost. Joe has been in business a long time and I trust him with my privacy concerns of information on my laptop. All work is guaranteed and Joe is up-front about costs. One day service - how can you beat it? I'd recommend him any day for computer repairs and upgrades. I'll bet HUNTER wishes he had used Payless Repairs for his laptop. Outstanding service at a reasonable price. Why go elsewhere? read more

THIS IS THE PLACE TO GO. My mans joe belongs in a damn marvel movie because he is a SUPERHERO. This is the second time I've gone to him to fix my laptop and he's done it both times no problem! A fix that would've cost me $800 at the apple store only cost me $168 here! (Including the $60 original fee) I thought my laptop was for sure a goner and it happened at the most unfortunate time (one week before finals) but joe managed to save my computer that I began to think was going to be gone forever and I owe my life to him. Only con is the hours are really wonky and he's only there like 3 days out of the week but he usually picks up his phone anytime you call anyway! Would 10/10 recommend to anyone read more

You guys Joe is amazing! I went there when my USB died because of the reviews. It's a little shop in Kenmore and he will definitely take care of you and will try to fix the issue ASAP. I would give him a call before going to make sure he's available. Thanks Joe for your help!! read more

Last minute critical situation with work computer that I dropped and sustained major damage. Called Payless and dropped off computer. Joe worked on computer all evening calling me at 1 a.m. to let me know the status which I told him to call anytime day or night. He worked on it the entire next day into late evening. Picked up my computer. Would absolutely recommend Payless! Joe went so far above and beyond anything I could have hoped for. He did a phenomenal job!!! read more

Started friendly took $60 and didn't fix asking for more money so I pick up my computer and go to best buy what I should go first time]

Joe fixed my laptop battery supply. He took the time to find the best and cheapest way possible to repair the power supply. He answered any and all questions related to my computer. Not only was he cheaper than the competition but was much faster as well. Joe has easily won my business in the future. read more

I usually don't review but in this case I want to do this as a "thank you" to Joe for saving me money &$ with a repair vs buying a comparable laptop that he did on my 2012 Samsung i7 laptop. The computer after start up would just freeze up, allowing you no options. The repair consisted of taking it apart to clean the 2 circulation fans and also starting fresh with a Premium version of Windows. He also added some upgraded anti virus and updated software for my office work. The only thing I had to do was to go to Samsung on-line support which is "FREE" where they took control of the laptop and reinstalled "Easy Settings" software to enable the Function keys to operate again. So a big shout-out to Joe for the repair and to Samsung who still support a six year old machine, can't beat them apples (or can you!). read more

I dropped our laptop while it was on, and it wouldn't turn back on. Joe fixed it completely within a day or two, and all of our files were saved. He also lent us a cord (ours was destroyed when I dropped it) until we could buy a new one. We had a great customer experience. read more

So happy I made the choice to visit Joe at Payless Repairs. Quick, efficient service at a cost that cant be beat! My touch screen was cracked and I called around to hear the best price was $300+ with no guarantee it could be fixed, Joe got it done for less than half of that and within a couple days! I will be coming here for any repairs needed on anything in the future, he is a truly honest and skilled computer expert. It was a tough fix that required serious hardware and he had the knowledge and tools to get the job done. Cant recommend this place enough, Ive used several PC repair shops in the Buffalo area and have had good experiences, but this by far was the best!! Thank you Joe!!!!! read more

I wish I can give him 10 stars because this guy takes his craft very seriously. What a life-saver. I spilled coffee on my computer and was in a tight crunch with deadlines for work and was panicking. My husband called Joe and then brought it over to him. He worked on it right away, and got it up and running by the next morning. I can't thank him enough for this. read more

Brought in my Dell PC a while ago when it took a nose dive. Joe was able to get it back up and running in a few days. Price was extremely reasonable considering it was full of viruses and malware. When I came in to pick it up, he explained everything to me as well as how to prevent it from happening again. He loaded Windows 10 on it as well as virus protection and malware. Don't let the building and the messy repair shop fool you. This guy is a pro and is genuinely concerned about doing the best for his customers. read more

Joe, was absolutely wonderful. I have taken different laptops to him and a failed external harddrive. He recovered all my business files and was great about periodic updates on progress and telling me what was realistic. He cleaned up the computers, loaded antivirus protection and replaced a harddrive for me. I can't even tell you what a lifesaver he is about saving my business files!!! He is informative and helpful - always going above and beyond with a positive attitude. He is the reason I love supporting small businesses. Not only does he have excellent prices (especially compared to geek squad and other IT businesses) ... he is timely! I highly recommend Joe to any one looking to repair, or upgrade any electronic needs! Rebekah read more

We've used Joe a few times- based on the great reviews- not word of mouth or anything. He's very dedicated; knows his stuff and very reasonable. Two thumbs way down for payless repairs/Joerecent overall experience with this dude was terrible & rude and was of no help!! attitude was highly disrespectful & unprofessional as-f*ck!...& in the future most definitely will not recommend anyone to bring their computers to a rude unprofessional a$$hole!...Recommendations-Do yourselves this favor and take your money and computer elsewhere!. read more

This guy deserves more than 5 stars! A power surge took out our (pretty old) computer. Joe fixed it, fast, for a very reasonable price, and with a warranty on his work. Since he was going into his days off he worked late into the night to get it fixed, and he met me at the shop the next day so I could pick it up, even though he was closed. I found/chose Payless based on other 5-star Yelp reviews and am now here adding same. Though there are computer repair places much, much closer to my house, I'll be making the trip back to Joe next time I have a problem. (Thanks, Joe!) read more

My laptop had bogged down to the point of being extremely frustrating to work on. Went in and talked over my options with Joe and we agreed on a full reinstall of windows without all the add-on microsoft crap. His prices are reasonable and his turn-around time is great! I had my computer back the next day. He is friendly and will honestly help you with laying out your options. Will absolutely return to him with any subsequent computer issues. read more

I've brought 3 PCs to this gentleman over the past few years. I've been delighted every time. He' professional, fast, very knowledgeable and very reasonably priced. His diagnoses have always been right on the mark. He doesn't pad his bill with unnecessary routine maintenance that you can do yourself, like some of the more well-known computer repair places. Can't say enough good things about Mr. Cannata. read more

guys is a cheap asshole and ill explain why Problem: power supply cannot support new graphics card but I cannot test to make sure it is the power supply for sure. So I go here for a 2nd opinion I bring it here, he charges $100 diagnosis fee He then for some reason needs to clear my hard drive and install what I''m assuming to be an illegal copy of Windows 7 on my computer for an additional $40. He sends me the computer back saying my computer runs fine and everything will be okay I bring it home and my computer continues to shut down when it draws too much power. I buy and install a new power supply and problem is fixed Fucking scammer dont bring it here. read more

Joe is a lifesaver! My 83 year old mother, who knows absolutely nothing about computers was having a problem with her laptop booting up. She took it to Joe, who not only had it running in minutes, but he also gave her some tips about which anti-virus program she should use and fixed her loose cover before it cracked. He is incredibly friendly, very knowledgeable, and he has made a customer for life! If you're in the Western New York area and have a computer issue, don't even mess around with the other shops, just take it right to Joe. You'll be happy that you did. read more

I had a excellent experience at this repair store for my laptop. My laptop was not powering on. Before i brought my laptop at this store, I took to repair shop near by my place who kept it for 6 days and told me that my laptop motherboard is dead due to overheat and needs to be replaced. I bought new motherboard and replaced older one. Still it won't power on. I got frustrated due to time and money spent due to wrong diagnosis. Then I took it to Payless repair and gave some advance to diagnose the problem. Specialist at this store diagnosed the problem in few minutes and returned the fees. It was just that I had to buy a new charger. I am impressed with honesty as well common sense and skills the specialist applied at this store to fix my laptop in matter of minutes at no charge. He also gave me suggestions on improving performance. Highly recommended!! read more

This is a super small spot that if you drive too fast down Kenmore you'll miss it. But if you're searching for someone to troubleshoot your laptop man this is the guy. I came in panicked recently that my computer died. Well, the hard drive did, but nonetheless I lost everything. He was able to squeeze me in, hook me up with a new drive, antivirus software, Microsoft office, AND get it back to me the following afternoon. I mean I couldn't ask for better. Essentially now I have a new computer. He's holding onto the drive and maybe some time he will crack it and retrieve some old stuff but more importantly I didn't have to rub to buy another computer when I financially wasn't ready. $50 consultation fee and $130 labor supply fee later I am back and in business. May seem a lot but when you're in a crunch I happen to think that's reasonable. Plus 6 month guarantee! So if you have any type of laptop, PC, Mac or whatever problem I would run it by this guy. Def worth my dollar! read more

This guy is simply put, awesome. He does the job exactly how it should be done if not better. And he keeps his promises. My husbands laptop was broken a couple months back. So was mine but we could only afford to pay for one at the time. So we gave in his for resurrection. Joe said he'd do mine for just consultation price. We said that we'll pass that day and he said the the offers still up if we want, just don't come a year later. (He probably would have agreed a year later too) We agreed and took my husbands good as new laptop home. We then came back a couple of months later when I could no longer avoid using my laptop and had to fix it. We were certain he probably forgot that deal he gave us. Well, we were in for a very pleasant surprise! People like Joe are the reason why I haven't entirely lost faith in humanity. If you read this Joe keep up the great work! read more
