Joe dropped the ball this time. I took my desk top in on 1/29/26, and was charged $130 + tax. He informed me next day that the ssd drive in my computer was bad. He recommended an m.2 ssd that was faster, and I was charged an additional $180. (60 for the drive and 120 to put it in). On Feb. 2, I picked it up and was informed that he fixed the old ssd, but put in the new one anyway because "it was faster". I got the unit home, and it was STILL doing what it was doing to begin with!! I brought it back on the 3rd of Feb.. To make a long story short FIVE TIMES BACK AND FORTH TO HIS SHOP AND HAD THE SAME ORIGINAL PROBLEM!! Finally, on Feb. 17th, I brought it back in, he put the original ssd back in, and refunded me the $180 BUT NOT THE $130!! He had stated earlier that "With 20-30 computers being worked on in a week, it was hard to find an 'intermittent lag problem." SO, in other words, collecting between $2,600 and $3,900 dollars a week in "estimate fees" , HE REFUSED TO REFUND MY $130 which I had paid expecting of course that he would FIX IT, which in my eyes is saying, tough luck Charlie; I would rather keep your money than keep a customer!! Well so be it. I would not recommend Payless: I guess if you pay less you get what you paid for. read more

My laptop monitor was suddenly black. Nothing I did brought it back and I needed it fixed quickly. The Genius Bar appointment was days away, so I went local - and I will never go to the GB again! Talking to Joe on the phone it was clear he knew his stuff! He was so nice when I dropped my computer off and kept me informed during the repair process. My problem turned out to be weird and minor but he didn't make me feel foolish about it and I got my computer back in better shape than ever. Took two computers to him, he charged me $180 upfront simply to look at them, no guarantee of being able to fix them. I should have walked but he has good reviews and reputation, been in business for a long time. He determined they needed keyboards and sent me on a wild goose chase to find them on ebay, he felt new parts would be too expensive. His guidance in what to look for was weak, I found a board for one and not the other brought it to him and it was the wrong board. The supplier refused to provide a refund. Now i''m out $280 but decide going elsewhere will cost even more $. I order another, it does not work, I did get a refund. Ordered another and this time it works. He installs it, the computer works but now it's unbelievably slow. I go back AGAIN, he keeps it for a few days, says it's better but not great and he will do me a favor and not charge me anything additional for this last service!!!!!! It worked slightly better, not much. He has me on a list awaiting a secondary market part for the second computer, it's been a long time and I have heard nothing not like I would even drive by his place again. $380 plus four visits, a lot of eBay time and I left with a computer that barely worked and one that did not. So unethical and did I mention the place is a mess? Take your computer to You Break I fix on Niagara Falls Blvd, they charged me nothing and advised me they to buy a new computer. Ethical. THIS IS THE PLACE TO GO. My mans joe belongs in a damn marvel movie because he is a SUPERHERO. This is the second time I've gone to him to fix my laptop and he's done it both times no problem! A fix that would've cost me $800 at the apple store only cost me $168 here! (Including the $60 original fee) I thought my laptop was for sure a goner and it happened at the most unfortunate time (one week before finals) but joe managed to save my computer that I began to think was going to be gone forever and I owe my life to him. Joe did an amazing, quick and inexpensive job on fixing my laptop. I wasnt able to connect to my brand new router and he found I had a ton of viruses blocking the connection. So he cleaned it up for a great price (compared to geek squad or other places I searched) and gave me some helpful tips on how to make it run better. Being a college student my laptop is probably the most important thing I need to have and he understood that. So he fixed it up and had it back to me in no time. Great service for the price. I usually don't review but in this case I want to do this as a "thank you" to Joe for saving me money &$ with a repair vs buying a comparable laptop that he did on my 2012 Samsung i7 laptop. The computer after start up would just freeze up, allowing you no options. The repair consisted of taking it apart to clean the 2 circulation fans and also starting fresh with a Premium version of Windows. He also added some upgraded anti virus and updated software for my office work. The only thing I had to do was to go to Samsung on-line support which is "FREE" where they took control of the laptop and reinstalled "Easy Settings" software to enable the Function keys to operate again. So a big shout-out to Joe for the repair and to Samsung who still support a six year old machine, can't beat them apples (or can you!). read more

My touch screen was cracked and I called around to hear the best price was $300+ with no guarantee it could be fixed, Joe got it done for less than half of that and within a couple days! Brought in my Dell PC a while ago when it took a nose dive. Joe was able to get it back up and running in a few days. Price was extremely reasonable considering it was full of viruses and malware. When I came in to pick it up, he explained everything to me as well as how to prevent it from happening again. He loaded Windows 10 on it as well as virus protection and malware. This guy deserves more than 5 stars! A power surge took out our (pretty old) computer. Joe fixed it, fast, for a very reasonable price, and with a warranty on his work. Since he was going into his days off he worked late into the night to get it fixed, and he met me at the shop the next day so I could pick it up, even though he was closed. I found/chose Payless based on other 5-star Yelp reviews and am now here adding same. I had a excellent experience at this repair store for my laptop. My laptop was not powering on. Before i brought my laptop at this store, I took to repair shop near by my place who kept it for 6 days and told me that my laptop motherboard is dead due to overheat and needs to be replaced. I bought new motherboard and replaced older one. Still it won't power on. I got frustrated due to time and money spent due to wrong diagnosis. Then I took it to Payless repair and gave some advance to diagnose the problem. Specialist at this store diagnosed the problem in few minutes and returned the fees. It was just that I had to buy a new charger. I am impressed with honesty as well common sense and skills the specialist applied at this store to fix my laptop in matter of minutes at no charge. This is a super small spot that if you drive too fast down Kenmore you'll miss it. But if you're searching for someone to troubleshoot your laptop man this is the guy. I came in panicked recently that my computer died. Well, the hard drive did, but nonetheless I lost everything. He was able to squeeze me in, hook me up with a new drive, antivirus software, Microsoft office, AND get it back to me the following afternoon. I mean I couldn't ask for better. Essentially now I have a new computer. He's holding onto the drive and maybe some time he will crack it and retrieve some old stuff but more importantly I didn't have to rub to buy another computer when I financially wasn't ready. $50 consultation fee and $130 labor supply fee later I am back and in business. This guy is simply put, awesome. He does the job exactly how it should be done if not better. And he keeps his promises. My husbands laptop was broken a couple months back. So was mine but we could only afford to pay for one at the time. So we gave in his for resurrection. Joe said he'd do mine for just consultation price. We said that we'll pass that day and he said the the offers still up if we want, just don't come a year later. (He probably would have agreed a year later too) We agreed and took my husbands good as new laptop home.
