I am extremely disappointed with this company. I have navigated multiple home remodels and this is the worst experience by far. It comes down to their management and sales strategy - the salesperson came to our home and gave us an amazing performance, promised us everything we wanted for a full kitchen/bath remodel, constantly told us she would take care of every little detail through a full service contract, and insisted that the contract was one inclusive price with general descriptions of the room, which ended up biting us in the butt big time. She constantly said yes to our questions, laughed and laughed, insisted that it would all be amazing, and then it was the opposite. We paid almost $100,000 and they refused to give us several key items we paid for. After signing the contract, they immediately started refusing to carry out basic items - they would do the full bath remodel but not paint the wall repairs in the end; they advised us to move our refrigerator but then wouldn't do it unless we paid an additional sum after the contract was signed; they refused to hook up our plumbing and ceiling fans; they refused to install GFCI outlets in the kitchen even though they were the ones who told us it needed to be in the contract; they refused to upgrade a bathroom shelf; they refused to replace the medicine cabinets; and more! In the end, our project was left uncomplete, I was forced by them to pay additionally for items they promised us, and I was forced to bring in another contractor to clean up all these outstanding items. Their installers were okay, but their salesperson was dishonest, sat in our home with us for three hours promising us everything we wanted to hear, and then screwed us in the end. The management of this company should be ashamed of themselves. Run far away from Payless, they are not ethical businesspeople. read more

Prices are not bad but product selection is very limited. If you like their products then you will be happy. Customer service is great but the problem isn't with that. Couldn't commit to something less desirable than what was really wanted. Tried to like it but couldn't pull the trigger. 5 stars for customer service and 2 stars for the limited product available. I recently saw Carpet Wagon/Payless Kitchen Cabinets at the 2025 Bridal Fashion Week in Garden Grove, California. There I briefly met Albert who swiftly set me up for an in-home consultation. A few days later, senior design specialist, Andrew came over to take measurements and go over designs and pricing with me. I was pleased with the thorough explanations, the pros and cons, and the transparent pricing. Once I signed the contract, I was set up with a project coordinator and my primary point of contact, Carlos. It was easy to reach Carlos via text and call and by that point it was just a waiting game for my chosen materials to ship. What I like about this company is they make sure two separate individuals come out to take measurements to ensure accuracy. At one point, Danielle came out to take measurements again. When the project is ready to commence, Derick and Daniel also we're great communicators, worked swiftly and started, and finished the project within less than two whole days, and honestly left my place more pristine than they found it. They wanted $18,000 for a tiny wet area shower remodel with basic acrylic/plastic shower for each bathroom! They also said that it's the discounted price, so $36K for a small just wet area acrylic shower :))) Now I got a full bathroom italian polished procelain remodeling for the full...wet are and outside the whole bathroom for $15,000 each! Not only that, but it's been around 4 months, and they still try to solicit me with their cheap acrylic bathroom...I even told them I had remodeled already, but they are still chasing after me...I guess they want me to take down my newly renovated bathrooms with porcelain tiles and re-model with their cheap wet area acrylic. We love our new kitchen! We spent a long time removing all dishes and food from the 13 cupboards we have. We did a total demolition of our kitchen and removed the "soffits" and had to make a few alterations to our plans as changes came up and we had to alter both what we had planned for and the length of time it took. Our house was old from 1959 and so we ended up having to get a lot of new plumbing done to make sure our new large sink and sewer pipe (40 feet long) got replaced. It took 6 weeks instead of 3. That was the hardest part. We also had our dining room painted and a new floor put in. We bought all new appliances and that was a challenge to go find the right ones and make sure they were the correct dimensions. Even buying our faucet was a challenge. We got a new Lowe's card and timed it so we got the black Friday deals and saved 100s of dollars that way. We chose white for our new cupboards but they have a 12 cupboard limit. So when they finally finished i then had to hire another painter to paint our 13th cupboard white. Bassel was the man coordinating all the work and workers. He was very kind and tried hard to help us at each step to get our kitchen just how we wanted. I was thrilled once I could wipe down all the cupboards and tops of all the counters and the backsplash. That alone took me a few days and only then was i able to put things back. It was cathartic to remove a lot of old plates and other dishes we had accrued over the 66 years. We had so many things it allowed us to reduce the ones we never use and donate them to a battered women's shelter. Getting the new refrigerator in was harder than I knew, as we had to connect the ice maker and water dispenser to the lines under the sink. Stewart was the company electrician and did his bit to help us with a lot of supervising of getting our appliances in and running, not to mention he came the last day and did any and all little touchups to make all perfect. So in the end we are happy with the result. It cost a lot but less than other companies and offer more choices. We went down to their showroom and picked out our floor (grey woodgrain looking long boards). Alfredo painted all the walls and ceilings and did a fairly good job. But Stewart came back and did all the little touch ups that he had missed. We like the daily communication from Bassel about who was coming to do what and at what time. The designer woman Danielle was so smart and was able to show us what it would look like when we were in the planning stage. Her vision and her ability to put it into the computer made it magical for us to envision the final product. I wish at the very end they would have had a team to wipe down the inside of all the new cupboards and the floors as they were covered in a fine dust..our bay window had quite a lot of debris we didnt notice until the company had left. So I spent several days wiping it all down and mopping and vacuuming up little chunks of plaster. There was some dots of white paint I need to remove in our bay window. All in all, I believe redoing a whole kitchen is very complicated and expensive and not to be taken lightly. I worked hard each day as did their workers. The team effort resulted in our lovely new kitchen that will last the rest of my life. I think it is nice they have a timeline but remember most of the time it will take longer as things come up they didn't anticipate like the plumbing and the Air Conditioner freon tube and wires that presented themselves in one of our soffits. There was one week in the middle no one came at all and believe it or not, we didnt mind as we were struggling to live normally with no kitchen and no way to cook except one small microwave. Our cats also were upset as they are used to being able to roam around the whole house and that was not an option obviously. All the workers and sales people and everyone in the company tried to do their best, so I was pleased with that. This company is better than most and I liked them as we live in the same city. It was a challenge for us and them, but we were finally able to get the job done. Food is back in our cupboards and refrigerator/freezer and we can finally cook on our new range. It will definitely raise the value of our house too, so in the end, as hard as it was, we needed to do it. Change is inevitable and hard, so expect that, but after it is done you have more cupboard space and it forces you to clean out the crap and old food you don't use. It makes you feel healthier to know your kitchen is clean and new! Thanks to all involved. read more

We had Payless do our kitchen renovation this year. Their team was communicative, professional, helpful, and honestly a pleasure to work with! Tina, our project manager, answered all our questions and kept us updated on what was coming next, when we needed to have what things ready by, etc. She also expertly managed and coordinated schedules when we asked for changes to some of the work, and worked with delays caused by work unrelated to Payless' scope. Luis who built our cabinet additions also did a really great job! He was always on time, worked fast, and gave suggestions when something we were asking for wouldn't work quite right. Andy who came to do the estimate was great. All I needed was a small shower replaced. I did the demo myself. All of the problems started after the job was handed off to Ahmed the project manager. I was told I would be getting a floor to ceiling shower. He then said that they couldn't do it and there would be a gap at the ceiling and there would be an extra charge for trim and etc to cover the area. It took multiple phone calls with him to figure out why. Eventually my dad (who's a construed worker) and I got it out of him that their materials wouldn't be long enough. I told him no on the extra charge. When he sent the documents to review for the change I saw that they were ordering the shower pan in a different color than the sides. I immediately messaged him and he told me it would be an additional $300 to change the color which wasn't my mistake to begin with. After messaging Andy and complaining about it they did cover the cost. Then on the day installation was supposed to happen, the pan that they measured for was the wrong size. They had to reorder it again. The guys doing the install left all of the materials, including drywall, outside in the rain. When I messaged Ahmed about it he told me to just cover it with some plastic. Someone did come the next day (after it poured rain all night) to put it in my garage. It took 3 additional weeks before they came to install. When the guys came to install they asked me about the odd shower hight. When I explained to them what Ahmed told me they measured and said no they can install to the ceiling it was no problem. At the end they installed a magnetic showerhead which I told them from the time of estimate that I did not want. When I messaged Ahmed about it he sent me a picture of the cheapest piece of junk showerhead and asked if that was what I wanted. I responded with screenshots of shower heads that I would find acceptable by the same brand that was installed. The next day I was brought a no-name brand shower head that had clearly been labeled for another project and not used. I tried to look up the shower head for reviews and couldn't even find that brand online. I told Ahmed why I refused it and the response I got was basically keep the shower head I said I didn't want from the beginning or pay them more money to change it. Throughout the process he has treated me like I'm difficult and tried to nickel and dime me. He was the worst and clearly had no intention of helping me with any of the issues that arose. The magnetic shower head won't even stay seated when it's positioned properly and falls off with no alternative way keeping it up. The job cost was 13k. I would never recommend them to anyone. In fact, I have a family friend that was going to use them for her kitchen and I told her not to use them. It's not worth the trouble. I would give no stars if I could. read more
