Great car selection from their Emeral Isle, but this location doesn't use the Emerald Isle, rather there's a booth in the garage where you need to wait in line for someone to give a car. I find this very inconvenient, but it is what it is. Car selection here was adequate, not the best. Service was nice and friendly, both on pickup and checking back in. Overall, I'd most definitely return to rent from National, but this isn't my favorite location.

(Open lot parking at the airport is $8 per, I assume also plus tax, but not sure.) In any case, it doesn't matter. I might be willing to pay MORE than the Airport price for the simple fact that after flying into SYR at 11 pm after a 10-day trip and a 17-hour journey, I DIDN'T have to brush off my car, de-ice my car, and cross my fingers that my car would start. Working with Americar was simple and straight forward. I didn't have to wait long for the shuttle on either departure day or arrival day. Staff were all friendly, and one gave me a heads-up that my reverse lights were out when I picked up the car. Recommended, particularly in the winter.

I arrived to get the van earlier than agreed upon, but it was no problem, they had the van ready to go and I was out in about 15 minutes after we took care of the paperwork. As I approached the service counter I noticed that the same young lady was on duty. OK let's see what happens today. Completely different experience paper work and car were ready, in fact she handed the keys to me so I wouldn't have to wait. She also remembered me and addressed me by name. Maybe she had a heads up that I was coming but the service was much appreciated. Even upgraded my car without asking. Later in the day I got a call from the manager making sure everything was good. It was. But and this is a big but. When I got my car there was only one other car in the lot and there were four people on line after me. Do the math. I don't want to jump to conclusions but unless there were more cars on the way in this looked like a potential problem. I hope it wasn't and Dollar Car Rental of Syracuse has their act together. I'll be back again. Bottom line: Yelp does have an influence as long as we use it responsibly. LAST EXPERIENCE: Let me start by saying that I have been a loyal member of the Dollar Car Rental club for over a decade. I rent several times a year and am always happy with them. So what happened to Dollar Rent. Car in Syracuse, NY. Last week I reserved a car for Tuesday and Wednesday of this week. I scheduled the pick up for 9:30 so I'd have plenty of time to get to a meeting. At 9:50 I'm at the counter. Most Dollar Car Rental offices have a setup for members. It's very simple: You go to the booth see your name and go to the designated space where your car and paper work is waiting and away you go. A little different in Syracuse. First the young lady had know clue about how this works. Apparently Syracuse does not use this system. OK fine. Now she starts trying to up sell me. Luxury car? No thanks. Insurance? No thanks. EZ pass? No thanks. And on and on. I finally explain that I made all these choices when I reserved the car so why are we going over this again? OK so see shows me my estimated bill which is several dollars more than I was quoted. Turns out she decided I should buy Roadside Service. Now I'm getting annoyed. If your car breaks down I'm calling you not an independent roadside service. Just show me my car. Oh it's waiting for you in the lot. Well I get there and wait 30 minutes and no car. All I keep hearing is it will be here in a minute. 40 minutes later they bring my car. Finally on my way. Just outside the airport a warning signal comes on telling me tires are low on air. Fortunately I'm now in front of their repair center. Another 15 minutes and I'm back on my way. I will continue to use Dollar Car Rental, but never in Syracuse again.

Not done yet!, we get to the car, it's terribly dirty, the windshield is so covered with bugs, the wipers won't clear, we had to drive to a gas station, and clean it with a brush.....there was food in center console....just a terrible experiance.

I called Budget Rental Car company on 11/4 to inform them that I was overcharged for my reservation…read moreat SYR from 10/28-30/16. The Budget representative first told me that I didn't return their car on time and was charged and extra day. I informed the Budget rep that I was on an AA flight 4714 that left SYR at 6:30 AM on 10/30 and couldn't have kept the car any longer. I also told the Budget rep. that I had previously rented a car from Budget on 9/23-25/16 as I have a sophomore daughter going to college in upstate NY. That when I returned the Budget rental car the last time, the two Budget employees who were supposed to check-in returning customers were both sitting in a minivan on their cellphones and not helping customers. I actually went to the Budget counter inside the airport to complain, something I very rarely do. The Budget rep. then told me that I would need to send her gas receipts to prove that I hadn't kept the car for an additional day. I asked her how providing a receipt that I filling up the Budget rental car was going to prove that I didn't keep their car extra hours, since I had actually filled up the car the night before. She couldn't answer my questions so I asked to be transfer to a supervisor. I was put on hold for over 5 minutes and then the same Budget rep. came back and told me that no supervisor was available to speak with me. She asked for and I gave her my mobile telephone number so that someone could call me back. They never did. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE AND PAY MORE, IT'S WORTH IT!!!

Decent. Signage was terrible…read more Usually, there is a sign telling Gold member to proceed to the garage. There wasn't, so I stood in line at the counter. Then they told me to go out to the garage. The guys at the garage started to tell me to go back in but, upon pushback they did have my car ready. It was an "upgrade" from a smaller Nissan SUV to a huge Dodge Durango that was probably much bigger than we needed. Next time I may say nah, I'm good. The car honestly didn't look that clean. Seat had like dirt/crumbs and the windshield wasn't clean. Return was easy enough. Friendly staff.

I was stuck with an off-track driver's window AND NO A/C for most of the ride. Hertz Roadside kept sending me to the rental desk at SYR but they NEVER picked up the phone (must have called 20 times in an hour)...also no ability to leave a message for assistance. When i returned the vehicle, one of the agents gave me a card with an email address and basically said good luck as he "hadn't talked to anyone at management in 2 weeks". Your good deal won't be worth it here.
