You get half of what they sell it for. For me this is nice. Rather than sell each item myself, along with waiting for those that are late or never arrive and haggle when they do, I drop them in one place. There's a website where I'm able to see what I've got there and the status, available and sold and what they got for it. Every month a check is issued. They sell items in the store and some items on line. They also sell antiques tools if you're a collector and fishing equipment. I've referred co-workers and friends to the shop.

Alison designed an incomplete bathroom, ordered a sink cabinet that did not have room for plumbing, lied about visiting the job site every day and so had no idea how badly the project was going. Eric the carpenter spent about one day a week at this project, regularly left a mess, did not complete assigned tasks. We paid someone else to complete his work. We are dealing with product issues still--on our own. I would never recommend Cox Kitchen and Bath.

But, a hinge on one of the cabinet doors broke. I went to the showroom with the broken hinge and Allison, the next generation of the family helped me. She warned that she would have to do some research on the hinge, and would have Quality Cabinets send me a replacement. Less than two weeks later a box arrived with not, one, not two, but six replacement hinges, in case another broke. Talk about going above and beyond- Cox Kitchens is the best.

We're sure as shit gonna grow. And it's our mission to convince our friends to grow, as well. We're planning on presenting a group of friends a new housewarming plant - a clone from our mother, Lady Martok (a klingon name for a warrior plant that we originally thought we dead when our cat pulled her out of her pot when she was a tiny, baby). This will be our first time growing in dirt. Lady Martok (our mother) and B'elanna (the one we're gonna smoke) are growing in coco. Needless to say, we needed a little education and the dude running the shop was more than willing to give it to us. Some people are born teachers. They teach you without making you feel like an idiot. This guy is like that. And he teaches a grow class at the shop. He helped us choose the right nutrients while simultaneously helping another customer choose the right pots and talking about why he shouldn't put rocks inside the pots (the roots don't like that). We definitely found our new supplies store. Bonus, it's in the same shopping strip as Taco Love Grill (see my review of that elsewhere on my yelp page)!!

Perfection, professional, courteous and reasonable are a few words that come to mind in describing…read moremy experience with Classic Furniture Works. Mike McDowell went above and beyond to ensure perfection and that every detail was to my exact liking. There was an immediate rapport as I explained how the one-of-a-kind coffee table I designed more than forty years ago while attending university in Tallahassee and how I found the planks of cherry wood to use in building it at a small sawmill near Whigham (GA). Although I was able to create the legs, I had no idea how to assemble the design. To my surprise, my father showed up one day at my apartment with the completed table. He was just that kind of guy--part of the Greatest Generation, fought in some the worst parts of the Battle of the Bulge, and went on to serve more than fifty years in public education. People and things have come and gone through the years, but the table remained with me as I traveled across the country and around the world. My most recent move to Bel Air (MD) did not break the table, but at long last, there were enough marks and dents that could justify turning it into kindling. Mr. McDowell intently listened as I explained how the table was not perfectly square. My father also added braces that were not part of the original design. Mr. McDowell assured me the table could be preserved and asked to study it before offering to provide an estimate. I soon heard back from Mr. McDowell with a detailed description of what would be required to restore and also achieve the original design. He never rushed nor did he try to speed through the restoration. He took his time to make sure his work reflected the high quality and precision of his craft. I also received periodic updates from him at each step of the process. The finished restoration is now indeed the work of art that my father and I originally envisioned more than four decades ago. I feel very fortunate to have connected with Mr. McDowell to restore this table, which for me holds a sentimental value. I highly recommend Classic Furniture Works to anyone who wants to restore a fixture they feel is precious and irreplaceable.

Apparently, Toolbank started out in Georgia at a local resident's house that lended out tools to people who needed them. Eventually, others found out about this resource, and it became community known. Home Depot and another company that is headquartered in Georgia offered to partner with this tool bank, and I suppose that was how the organization became at large and continuing to grow. In Baltimore, they lend tools and equipment to other places like the National Aquarium so you can see that they provide as a vital resource to the community. I think it's great that we have some thing like this in the area! Their Hammers and Ales was a great event and there were many valuable items being sold for the auctions, including a Cal Ripken signed baseball bat, Ravens football game tickets, and baskets full of hardware tools.
