Half a dozen wall outlets lost power, without tripping a breaker! After frantically going through every breaker in my panel one by one, shutting it off and back on again, with every clock and DVR display in the house going 'blink-blink-blink', I finally realized this was beyond my amateur ability to resolve, and called Steve at Pedrick Electric. He returned my call almost immediately, and was at my door in less than an hour (actually, since he's local to my area, he made it in less than 1/2 half an hour, but unless you live very close to Perry Hall/Kingsville/Glen Arm, you may not get the same super-quick response). Steve asked a few carefully specific questions about the problem, and zoomed in on the source of trouble in no time flat. Problem resolved, and a long-term permanent solution installed and in use in a very short time. The cost was extremely reasonable, and very fair. Steve is an experienced professional, who takes the time and trouble to listen and responds with intelligence, skill, and the sort of calm assurance that is rare nowadays. These guys were not like that. They could've charged an exorbitant service fee for coming to my boyfriends home on a weekend for a partial power outage (within 4 hours of us calling), but when they came and realized it was an issue with the utility company, they didn't charge him anything. The quick turnaround, honesty in their work, and willingness to help others in a pinch really sets them apart. We called nearly 20 electricians that day with most asking for somewhere around $160 for 30 min plus travel time at a minimum or for us asking for an appointment next week. They took our call right away and although they seemed lax on the phone, it's clear they knew what they were doing and understood the issue we were trying to communicate. It's not even my house, but if I need anything I'm calling them first and my boyfriend will do the same. Added bonus: this is a veteran-owned business.

His work is very clean and he cares about craftsmanship and customer satisfaction. He was personable, made me feel comfortable and was the lowest of three estimates for the same work, with the highest level of service during the estimate process. I cannot recommend him enough. We installed a 240V NEMA 14-50 plug for an EVSE, running up to 50A. Our house was built in the 70's, with no upgrade to the electrical system. The simple addition meant that we had to change the whole circuit breaker panel. We talked through all of this before he even came to the house for the estimate, and he confirmed all of this and shored up the requirements at the time of the estimate. He worked with me, as I wanted to run the line from the box to the carport for my car charger to save on the labor that I could do. He was comfortable with that and gave some pointers about what to use and how to get it there. On the day of installation, I made sure to be home so I could watch. I am curious and cautious, I didn't have any misgivings that he'd do anything untoward--I watch all the workmen I bring into the house. He had no problem with my being in his back pocket, and even took a little time to explain what he was doing and why. We ran into several snafu's during the breaker panel installation, and Mark worked with me. He kept the price as close to the initial estimate as possible despite the requirements we found where we needed additional labor and materials. Given the nature of the surprises, I don't begrudge the need to have charged to deal with them. The breaker box was updated [read completely taken down and rebuilt], the new one was far better organized and much clearer about what was on which circuit. When the county came down to permit the box, they were quite happy that everything was dress right dress. For the curious, I plugged a Clipper Creek HCS 40-P into the NEMA 14-50, and my 2015 LEAF [6.6KWH] charges to 80% from anywhere in less than 90 minutes--the 120V trickle charger took ~14 hours.
